Show March 26 2008 Millard County Mark Huntsman Announcement of Candidacy For the past four years it has been my privilege to serve on the Millard County School Board representing the Fillmore Precinct District I I now declare my candidacy for to the school board and for another four years of public service greatly appreciate the dedication of the board members and school district staff that have served with and express my gratitude to them for helping the school district progress without conflict I also wish to conv ey my appreciation to the administrators faculty parents students and community of Millard County for our accomplishments and strong communication since 2004 We have held ourselves accountable for real improvement and have enjoyed the progress that has been made Our community has recently overcome several important challenges to our schools Through cooperation and hard work we have sustained viable programs for all grades and have established a solid foundation by committing to early intervention programs assisting our youngest students Still there are other issues confronting us as we move forward Over the next term we face the demands of increased energy and utility cost declining enrollment stand and state funding concerns committed ready to help resolve these issues and to continue building on the achievements of my previous term of service remain committed to belter learning environments resources improved classroom enhanced communication and real accountability with true measurable progress indicators i rYVx'NN'V1' Notice Millard The West Mosquito Abatement District will be burning drains again this year Having the drains cleaned up is still very important for controlling the mosquito populations in our area We are asking again that property owners bum the bottom of their drains Our most abundant mosquito is a flood water mosquito and needs a period of drying and werting between each subsequent hatch of mosquitos Many of our drains that have water in them the year round produce but few mosquitos While those that tend to dry out winters and between crops can produce high numbers of larvae These drains tend to have a rich supply of vegetation in them This organic matter is the food of the mosquito larvae Burning drains accomplishes the following: Burning will clean up this organic matter making the drain a less productive habitat 2 Burning drains makes it easier for the mosquito treatment to reach the water in places where vegetation is thick 3 Burning will clean up the drain so that the water can be found and treated A covering of salt grass or weeds in a drain makes it very difficult to find some of the most productive water Since many times more mosquitos are killed in the water than could ever be reached after they get on wing we ask for all the help we can get Please clean up the drains around your properties Please report water that stands for more than seven days And please pour out water in containers old tires or buckets Culex pipiens a West Nile Virus carrying mosquito thrive in containers and were especially bad in Delta last year This can make a big difference to the mosquito population in our neighborhoods Let’s have a summer as mosquito free as possible! JF v p V fr14 o Timothy M Arnold with these issues I have been advised warned and told in general that I am crazy to want to involve myself in the politics of Millard County that the job is too complicated the hours are ridiculous the pay and thanks are far too lean and strenuous My response to that is “ so what else is new?” Any of you who know me know that I don’t make a decision until I have full understanding of my direction and have done my due diligence A comment w as made indicating that the elected officials are the employees of the residents of Millard County As someone who is familiar with business and it’s intricacies I believe a better way to describe these elected official’s positions are to relate them to a board of directors of a large corporation The elected officials are in essence the elected board of directors of the business of Millard County and are directly accountable to the share holders who are it’s residents and tax payers and to manage and operate the affairs of Millard County to the best of their ability and for the sole benefit of it’s share holders Share holders all not share holders a few Yes I used the word “accountable” Any person willing to accept compensation from a company’s share holders must also be willing to accept the accountability of their actions and decisions None the less let’s move forward let’s proceed with confidence in our future I ask for your support If you want something done ask the busiest person you know One last comment We have all heard the phrase “talk is cheap” This is because there is such a great supply of it and so little demand facers of fillmorc bv Sherry Shepard The Face of Fillmore will change as a facelift takes shape on Main Street in the near future Main Street The Fillmore Committee met on Beautification March 10 to make a design decision on the new light fixtures for Main Street This project w ill be completed in phases as funds are available with the initial plans being to put in place the new lighting on the center blocks of Mam Street then moving outward in both directions in coming years until all of is Main Street )t completed The committee agreed on the which design they prefer Ted Nlaestas of Mountain j States Lighting presented a design and its features £0 L— ’ to comparable the committee’s choice to the City Council for their approval on March 18 Input from local businesses and individuals about the project will also be considered A draw ing of the Read Commission Minutes On-lin- ST 1 la 25 26 ar F 27 48 Trasylol a drug used to control bleeding during surgery has been linked to kidney failure dialysis and death If you or a loved one had surgery and then developed kidney for a free consultation failure call us now at l We practice law only in Arizona but assoc hue with lawyers throughout the country a mw GOLDBERG ft OSBORNE 80(ET1 (1 www 84MMherttjflccom (4iarMikiid at: e Got land? 0 or have low as down and family $30sq land! as low as WE millardcountv COSTS NO CLOSING Is Your Deed It!
