Show Millard County Eighteenth Annual National ATV Jamboree Shern Shepard ( B i hairman of the Jamhoree Fillmore is a quiet peaceful little hamlet at the foot of the I0(XX) fmit Pahvant Mountain Range in central I'tah until Jamhoree Week the last week in June and then it comes to life This year will be no exception there were nearly As of June 250 registered riders with ready many phones calls each day for formation and a normal last minute rush in registration expected Plans for the eighteen annual National ATV Jamhoree began even as last year’s was still in progress Additional rides and activities promise the best jamboree ever Fillmore City welcomes the ATV riders to their community Streets are designated for ATV travel and these are clearly marked with bright blue signs as well as writing on the paveIt is possible to access ment any business or other area of interest on Once a participant arrives your ATV in Fillmore they can park their truck or car They won't need it for a week unless they plan on a trailered ride On Monday June 20 2005 participants from all over the nation and sometimes from foreign countries will begin to congregate at as well Jamboree Fleadquarters friendly Jamboree volunteers to answer their are The first group of about 2' riders depart from thcPt )D at p m for overnight ride to the Fremont dian State Park but Tuesday morning is the official opening of the Jamboree with breakfast from 7 to 9 a m a brief welcome and orientation at 9 a m There are several guided rides to choose from for the day w ith a w ide w ill an of scenery possible and riddifficulty from easy to advanced Rides vary in length from a few hours to all day Riders enjoy looking at the “ride board" which lists the rides showing pictures of them and then affords them the opportunity to sign up for the rides they want to take Jamboree volunteers are available to swers questions and make suggestions according to the type of scenery the riders want to see and what their level of riding ability is Rides vary widely from the grotesquely shaped lava flows of ancient volcanoes and the explorable lava tubes they have created as well as a bird refuge and a ride to the top of an ancient volcano to the lofly ridge tops of the Pahvant Mountains on the Paiute ATV Trail which reaches elevations of over 10000 feet This year as in some past local residents will be seen shoveling trails to clear them for Jamboree traffic Special interest rides include such things as the Photography Class on Wheels the Fillmore Loop Flower Tour an Ride a (il’S Treasure Hunt the Triathlon here riders toss horseshoes shoot skeet and golf traveling to each on their ATV’s a Whodunit mystery on wheels and others Wednesday and Thursday are days filled with guided rides along with the usual morning breakfast where riders enjoy visiting about the previous day's ride with plans and suggestions for the days to come variety ing well questions Evenings are filled with fun as These befitting their activities It is always great time - especially for those who get to watch others be a little embarrassed all in fun Saturday there is a wide variety of activities beginning with breakfast and the triathlon There is also a morning Kids ATV Rodeo This year the rodeo is under the direction of McKay Shields and his family with trophies furnished by Kern River Guides are available
