Lee Jensen captured All Events Handicap and Singles titles Harry Johnson and the manager won Doubles and the team of Blair Hunt Keith Sawaya Lee Jensen and Jim Nickle also took first 2 600 or better Hamilton DHS — Region 11 Swimming was on January 21 in Price Utah Only Price and RichField had divers in attendance and did very well Della's Boys team look First with 411 points and Delta's Girls took an impressive Second place with 278 points Saturday morning at 600 am the DHS swimmers were on a bus headed for Price Delta went into the competition 47 points behind Carbon (there primary rival at region) Delta had quite a job to come backl To start it off the girls 200 medley relay pulled in a First place to beat Carbon by 42 hundreths and the excitement never stopped The guys medley relay also swam to an easy victory over Carbon and RichField In the 200 freestyle Maria Stevens did very well and swam well enough to make it as First alternate at 3A State Jimie Neilson swam her personal best to bring in a few more points for the DHS rabbits The guys didn’t have any thoughts of making it to state in the 200 freestyle but Aaron Tenney Nathan lewis Mike Pruitt and David Pearson brought in 345 and 6th place to help gain a few more points than Carbon The next phase was the girlsguys 200 Individual Medley Kelly Hamilton (ranked 10 at state) wmt into it all by herself and came out with her best time ever and a second place Ethan H ami ton (ranked 4th) KC McCann (ranked 7th) and Phillip Scoville dominated over Carbon and took 2 3 4 and 6th places The team was slowly edging up Carbon In the 50 yard freestyle was dominated by the Delta lady swimmers Shellie Butterfield and Mishon Manning brought home st and 2nd place and also are placed 6th and 9th for 3A State Ethne Crawford and Susie Wright helped out they took 8th and 9th The Moore brothers John and Nate with the help of Josh Stewart held down the fort in the guys 50 freestyle Nate is ranked 5 and John is 8 The 100 butterfly is one of the hardest events but Shellie Butterfeild made it look easy as did KC McCann Shellie “flyied” into 2nd place and is ranked 6th at state KC McCann (ranked as 1) Aaron Tenney (ranked 9) Denver 12 and Nate Moore in son (ranked 1) completely (ranked as alternate blew over Carbon in this excruciating long and hard event All making it look 100 The rather easy frestyle was another way Delta Filled the 47 point gap 1 at region between them and taking region Rachel Lewis helped again with a 2nd place Mary Lyman and Susie Wright also added a lot The guys 100 free was well stacked for al three teams Delta did very well All four guys place in the top 7 of the 13 in the event Ethan Hamilton (ranked 3) and John Moore (ranked 10) made it to state Matt Nielson and Matt Pruitt also aided in the team effort The d istance event the 500 freestyle is a long and hard swim The girls two distancers did their best and helped the score a lot Maria Stevens (ranking 12) took a 2nd place and Jimie place 4th she did her best time this year Nathan lewis (ranked 6th) place first for the guys David Pearson (12) and Scott Stephenson (alternate 2) Finished with a4th and 5th place The 200 free relay is a lot of fun for the swimmers and quite fast Coach Tom Hamilton had a diffemt mix of girls than normally swims this relay They took second in this event but made it to state 5th The guys also took second with their regular team They are they will win this relay at state The 100 backstroke is pretty popular and the girls and guys did well Kelly Hamilton was disapointed with her time but managed a 3rd place anyway Ethne helped her out taking 4th place Brent pearson (ranked 7th) and Mike Pruitt contributed in this event with placing 2nd and 3rd The 100 was well attended by both the girls and the guys Mishon Manning Rachal Lewis and Mary Lyman did a great job Eachdoing their best Mishion placed First Rachel 3rd and Mary 6th Ben Johnson who Denver Finlinson shaved his head to help his time and Philip Scoville were very impressive Denver and Ben took st and 2nd and Pillip helped much with his 7th place The Final even was the 400 freestyle relay Coach Hamilton tried a new combinatcm for the girls an they took another 2nd place but didn't make it to state The guys however did and also place 2nd and one 5th for state but should do better at the state competitions The Final score for the meet was Delta Guys 44 Carbon guys 379 Delta Girls with 278 Carbon girls 423 Coach Tom was happy with the guys and impressed that the girls did as well as they did against Carbon The team is looking forward to state February 4th and 5th at South High School in Salt Lake city Swim Pool news Some old friends have begun to themselves with the pool Gayle just completed 10 miles of swimming or water walking Rodger Scoville is back and Ken Lebbon is pushing the waves again It’s always nice to see swimmers come back to the pool!
