| Show Millard County Chronicle Page 5 Progress January Shane Rowley PTSA salute Show stealer Chris Stan worth steals the show at our Delta South Christmas sing He was cm stage as the Kindergarten sang Jolly Old Sl Nicholas Nathan Taylor and Kimberlee Nebeker enjoy the Christmas phere at the MHS Senior Ball atmos- Singing carols The student body of Delta South Elementary get into the Christmas spirit by singing carols together What fun we have meeting together to sing Steve Sabin recites his interpetation of the during the Senior assembly Twelve Days of Christmas Senior Ball 1993 - The Best Ever Winter is here and everyone’s cited The season is right and oh what a sight Senior Bail was on the agenda so let’s have a look at the events Senior Ball assembly at MHS was a great success Amy Wood came out in a pretty dress With Ben Davies by her side they told the story of how Santa (Jeremy Teeples) almost died Then after musical numbers by the chorus Kodi Penney and Jamie Speakman and Santa still didn't come too we tried a poem by Mrs Fuller which didn't do So Steve Sabin tried to tell him about the twelve days of Christmas and Nancy Christensen and Josh Probcrt played him Bells” to get him going But "Jingle nothing seemed to work not even a letter to Santa from Cortney Christensen Marcia and Marcie Starley sang him a number but nothing could wake Santa from his deep long slumber Till with the help of Mrs Claus Janet Watson the elves Jcrid Bennett and Van Whatcott hit him on the head with a star and Santa's remembered who was who and that he was he So he loaded up his sleigh and went up up and away to the Territorial State House for Senior Ball Day The stockings were hung by the Fireplace with care in hopes that students would soon be there The couples arrived in horse and buggy hoping to dance and get a little snugly The evening was fun it had no faults everyone enjoyed doing the waltz Dean’s list Christmas program The third grade classes performed the Christmas program for the school parents and families on December 21 1993 Thanks to the third grade teachers: Darcic Gardner Mary Singleton Karen Brinkerhoff and Grant Frandscn It was a great success Millard County Recreation is now organizing a 1994 Winter Racquetball League The fee will be $20 which cludes a or $15 without for each participant and court time for each scheduled match We will run recreational and begincompetitive ners leagues for both men and women if there is enough interest Please register according to your league preference Registration will be from Wednesday Dec 29 1993 through Thursday Jan 13 1994 at the Recreation Office 81 South Manzanita Ave Delta from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday For more information call the Recreation Office at 3 North Elementary News In The Mary Scoville Scoville saluted Delta North is happy to welcome Mary Scoville aboard our instructional assistant staff Mary works as an aide in our Special Education department under the direction of teachers Judith Hamaker and Marceal Hansen Mary was bom in Hebcr City Utah She has one brother and three sisters She is married to Rodger Scoville a native of Medicine Hat Canada The couple met at B YU during their college years Their first official date was one arranged by a mutual friend The couple has seven living children: Juliette Spencer Amic Phillip Sarah and Rachel "No grandchildren yet" Mary reports Mary likes to keep busy She has worked as a secretary a receptionist and as a substitute teacher Mrs Scoville has lived in many places including Midway Provo and Delta Utah Calgary Red Deer and Medicine Hat Canada St Charles Missouri and Weiser Idaho! In her spare time (when she isn’t busy moving) Mary enjoys gardening tennis reading historical fiction autobiographies and biographies Mary attended Midway Elementary and graduated from Wasatch High School She completed post high school work at Snow College and Utah Stale University She holds a BS degree from B YU From her elementary years Mary fondly remembers the time Mrs Derry her 2nd grade teacher took the class to her house to bake bread She also recalls the yearly dance reviews and still loves square dancing to this day! He lost part of a finger in a farming accident last year but ildoesn't stop him at all The one award he will share and the one he values most is the “Most Missing Hair Award" he received at his class reunion Mr Jensen is well liked by his students and fellow teachers We have no idea why he has earned the nickname of "Quizo" That's one story he has yet to share Mr Jensen has enjoyed many years of working at Delta High School “It is a great school and we have outstanding youth Most of our students are excelling and making an effort to improve themselves and their environment It's nice to be part of that" C C below mystery in the puzzle They go across backward up down and diagonally Dale Jensen PTSA salute kids" Della Racquetball League Johnson & Wales University has announced that Roy Olpin majoring in International Business formerly of Fillmore is among a total of 636 students who have been named to the Dean's List for academic achievement during the fall trimester To receive students Dean's List commendation must earn a cumulative point average of 340 or above Founded in 1914 Johnson & Wales University is a private coeducational institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in business hospitality and technology Based in Providence RI Johnson & Wales also maintains campuses in Char-lestonSC Norfolk Va North Miami Fla and Vail Colo When he is not out spraying mosquitos (his summer employment) you will find Shane Rowley outside playing something Whether it is playing or basketball himself or watching his children Dustin Kyle Jarcn and Shara or wife Camille or coaching the DHS Track Team he will be enjoying himself He would much rather be outside than inside buildings Coach Shane Rowley was bom in Delta He attended Delta schools graduating in 1972 He was a member of the State Championship Basketball Team of 1972 He served a mission for the LDS Church in the AlabamaFlorida mission He graduated from Southern Utah State College with a BA in Education and a minor in English He taught at North Summit for 3 years and then returned to teach at DHS His accomplishments as a teacher and a coach for the last 17 years are too many to list He has been the English department head for 10 years He has had several state champion girls and boys track teams and has been coach of the year several times He has also coached JV football for 14 years and like any good coach can remember the score of every game he ever played in! When asked his philosophy of education he replied "I believe schcxils should provide an opportunity for all students to learn to think and reason and to use these skills to prepare for future employment or education Just as important we as educators should teach integrity and citizenship and make kids feel worthwhile and important Students need to know we care about them and arc interested in what kind of people they turn out to be I don't think there are better people int he world than happy telling us something smart vour dog has done Hector!
