The Council on Foreign Relation' goal of socialistic world gos eminent looms more darkly than ever In 1974 through financing by the Rockefeller Foundation a constitution for the Newstates of America was produced and published In 1976 Nelson Rockefeller then pres of the US Senate introduced HCR 28 cal ling for an uni im ted constitutional Convention Will we be so foolish as to consider this type of convention again? What most don’t realize is that the Newstates constitution is of what the original the opposite this Country is Roundcr'sconslitutionof World Community Globalism InterOne World New World dependence Order are all catch words from the same thing-tmerger of East and West "By assisting Communism abroad and by increasing the size of government at home the US is paving the way for the merger of nations Unless present trends are reversed the US will be abolished in socialist governfavor of a ment” (Gary Benoit: Keep Us Independent!) In 1992 Western European Nations are aiming to cede their economic independence to the European Economic In Community Europe will become more socialized than ever The Berlin Wall and other communist barriers to travel have been removed People in the West say “See Communism is dead The Wall is down Now we will have peace Gorbachev got the NObel Peace Prize We all want peace But if economic independence individually and as a nation is lost will it ever be restored? A merger of nations is the goal for the New World Order and for the global “community” by men striving for communist and socialist ideals Communism is not dead Maybe in its old form But it has been replaced by a slower more subtle way gradualism-of achieving the same socialistic aims In the book of Revelations 3:3 it speaks of the head of a beast that is killed and comes alive again And all the world wonders at iL Is communism the head of the beast that people think is dead and will come back in a different form to cause all the world to be astonished? If the Constitution is set aside for a New constitution for a New World Order we will make up too late and realize our freedoms have been lost because the beast we thought was dead is alive Let's not be deceived by overtures of “peace” being proclaimed by a smiling dictator like Gorbachev Many Soviet defectors have warned of Gorby’s plans for World Domination by the use of his deceptive front of smiles and peace agreements Let's heed the warning in Daniel 8'25' “And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand and he shall magnify himself in his heart and by peace shall destroy many” ( craft” in Hebrew means: “deceiving fraud treachery feigned subtilly betray) in Thess when they shall say Peace and safety the cometh sudden destruction" I am all for peace but not peace without Liberty Peace under socialism and world leaders is not the answer There can be no real peace unless it is under a righteous leader with justice and liberty for all “Free men can vote themselves into slavery but slaves cannot vote themselves free" Let's become concerned enough to write or call our legislators and Senators and Congressmen to let them know that we do not want to consider the casting aside of our inspired constitution for the expenmen al New World Order's New of which the UN and constitution World Bankers and bigger government will be rulers Jeanette Skeem support of proposal We take this means of speaking ouT on an issue of great concern to families with students attending Delta North Elementary School Recently a Bond Election was passed in our County which would enable the building of a much needed new Delta North Elementary School There was a detailed article which appeared some weeks ago in this newspaper explaining the proposal made by the School District to the Delta City Council which would necessitate the closing of streets and acquisition of propr rty in order to build the new school at the site of the present facility This plan was decided on by the School Board after receiving input from a citizen's committee There was much bate and serious consideration of alternate building sites before a final decision was reached The pi an as presented to the City Council appeared initially to have been well received by the Council We would like to go on record in support of the School District’s proposal for building the new school at the present site The main concern of the PTA is the safety and best interests of our children We feel very strongly that the present site is the best safest most logical and most economic site available We would like to encourage public support of this site If you have any questions or concerns or would like more information please contact any PTA Board Member We would be happy to hear from you Sincerely DNESPTA Jetta Swalberg Julie Hobson Scott Bassett Pam Gasser Julie Nelson Julie Johnson Jane Ann Losee Claudia Bassett Lois Stephenson JoAnn Denise Purcell Diane Campbell DarGeorge Carolann Christensen lene Webb Allyson Wood Claudia Pierce Leslie Lake Why aren’t we protecting our children by L Jon Buttars Utah State University “Extinct? Not childhood diseases1" So begins a brochure published for the Utah Department of Health regarding immunization of children against seven terrible childhood deceases Most childhood diseases are contagious and although children are usually bom with some immunity natural immunities do not last forever According to the Utah Department of Health children may experience needless suffering and even death if they have not been immunized for measles rubella polio mumps diphtheria tetanus and pertussis Measles the most common contagious disease of childhood isnot always harmless The National Institutes of health report that “One out of every six children with measles develops some The most dreaded is complication” or inflammation of the encephalitis brain often called “sleeping sickness” or “brain fever" USA Today reported recently that nationwide in 1990 25000 measles cases were reported (60 of which sulted in death) This is 10 times the number of cases reported in 1983 Sadly half of these deaths were to unvaccinated preschoolers Although there were no known measles deaths in this state the Utah Department of Health indicated that 47 measles (rubeola) cases four german measles (rubella) cases 40 cases of pertussis and 14 cases of mumps were reported during 1990 Health officials indicate that those at greatest risk as a result of not being immunized are those in the preschool ages as well as young adults Utah law requires immunizations with few exceptions upon entering grade school but this same law does not apply to preschoolers or young adults groups Interestingly those two are also the two groups with the lowest levels of immunization in the state according to Utah Department of Health Statistics Although in recent history children have had a very small chance of being infected by one of immunization levels these diseases have fallen off the risk of epidemics is increasing A second danger is also developing There is now a reduced chance that children will acquire immunity through natural infection That children means these will not be able to pass on any immunities to their children Who will subserisk even be at quently greater Why don’t we immunize ourselves and our children? Few can object on the grounds of cost since each of the Department of Health District Office offer immunization at a reduced cost and if a family cannot afford to pay these will be offered free The majority of parents in this state who fail to immunize their children do so because they forget or lose track of time rather than out of fear of health risk If you are uncertain of the level of protection your family has get in touch with the Department of Health District Office in your area or your personal physician GREAT BASIN MUSEUM IN DELTA NOW OPEN 329 Watt 100 North SPRING 1991 HOURS: Starting March at To 4 PM Cloaad Sunday Toor and abar hour eaN DAILY 37np by Kea (De plane! The good ol’ Zionist Entity is pretty ticked off about ducking 40 Scud tacks they haven’t struck back and nobody knows what their hole card is Publicly they say they won't nuke Baghdad but they may send in a girl scout strike team to kidnap Saddam war triaL Hussein for an Eichm That would prove Saddam Hussein was right when he said the West was out to get him This could be a good thing It may relieve TV netwotks worried peace will bring no news which is bad news in the news biz It may provide jobs for pollsters facing unemployment with the onset of peace It may provide diverting activity for otherwise idle pros and antis to demonstrate for and against Israel is clever They may be deceiving the world by telling the truth that they intend to ignore Saddam Hussein This may be the greatest punishment that could be imposed on him Even if the concept cornet from Israel it deserve thought A concept based on ignoring religious and nationalistic posturing and hyperbole by armed zealots could be the cornerstone of a New World Order that might work Honk honk Large classrooms tough to manage Sometimes tell me that classes with more than 30kids shouldn't be all that tough to manage “After all" they say “when I was in the fifth grade we had 40 in my class" “Ye" I reply "but the children of today live in a different world" And sometimes I tell them about Jake Jake was years old that morning when he tugged on my sleeve “Can I talk to you?” “Not now Jake I have to get the kids lined up for lunch or Mr Summers' class will get there ahead of us" I said “I can wait" Jake said The next time he approached me was just before recess “Can I talk to you now?" he asked “Not now Jake I’m on recess duty come with me and we can talk outside" Jake shook his head and said it was "kird of personal” and that he could wait So he and the other 33 kids in my class had their teacher's complete attention as they filed out to the play ground After school I was gathering my papers for a faculty meeting I al way s sit in those meetings and grade papers because it drives the principal nuts Then I felt a tug at my sleeve "Mrs Eskelsen can I talk to you now?" Jake asked “Oh Jake I’m late for the faculty meeting So you’ve got five minutes "“Well you said if we ever had trouble we can talk to you about iL My brother wants me to do drugs with him" I stopped put my papers down and listened as Jake told me about iL I never made it to the faculty meeting We got Jake’s parents the counselor and the principal together and I think we helped them Later I thought: How many more of my 34 kids have to tug on my sleeve twice? And I feel a little bolt of fear when I remember the incident and think I almost didn't have time for Jake Sorting recyclable plastic by Dennis Hinkamp Utah State University For most of us sorting trash is the first obstacle to recycling We have become accustomed to throwing everything into a central container and then leaving it at the curb to be mysteriously whisked away in the predawn stillness For recycling to work we are probably going to have to go further than just sorting into paper plastic glass and mental bins There are divisions within these categories According to Dr Leona Hawks Home management specialist in the Utah Stale University College of Family Life here are at least seven distinct The problem is categories of plastic compounded by the fact it isn’t easy to recognize the types of plastic just by looking at them Hwks says the Society of the Plastics Indusry (SPT) is trying to simplify the sorting problem by starting a national container code system She says there has been a lot of talk about making plastics biodegradable but there are problems with approach One is that plastics that are degradable in the sunlight may not be degradable underneath tons of trash in landfills As a result you will notice that some new plastic beverage containers and trash bags carry the designation Another problem is that some of the byproducts of biodegrading can be hazardous to groundwater The ultimate solution is recycling die plastics products already in existence Hawks says The SPI coding program is voluntary but Hawks says it is being widely used You can find the triangular symbols with a number in the middle and an abbreviation of thematerial name on the bottom of most household product container The program calls for the symbols to appear on the bottom of all bottles 16 ox and larger and other container that are 8 oz or larger These seven number and codes: PETE terephtha- - late): The designation PETE is used to avoid infringement of the trademark bever“PET" which is found in age bottles and some other smaller bottles Since PET can withstand heat it is also often used for frozen food pouches 2 HDPE ( high density polyethylene): HDPE is opaque and is usually used for milk jugs detergent bottles cosmetics medicine containers and heavy duty trash bags It is the most widely used category of plastic containers 3 V (Polyvinyl chloride): “V" will appear on container instead of the industry trademark “PVC" Almost all meats are wrapped in transparent PVC It is also for clear bottles that contain nonfood oils and other products 4 LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene): This is often used for food wrap bread produce bags bags dry cleaning garment bags and flexible squeezable food bottles 5 PP (Polypropylene): This is used for syrup bottles yogurt containers some detergents shampoo medicines screw on caps and lids and liners for cereal and cracker boxes 5 PS (Polystyrene): It is more commonly known by its Dow trade name "Styrofoam" It is used in a variety of fast food container including the “clamshell" burger box Polystyrene has came under fire from environmentalists because it is made with CFC's which are implicated in damaging the ozone layer 7 Other this is the dcsi gnat ion for the of plastic containers that consist of several layers of plastic You should note that the SPI coding system is not mandatory to manufacturers and presence of the code doe not insure that die product will be recycled The coding system is a step in the right direction in that it make sorting plastic easier for communities that want to recycle It also allows consumers to vote with their dollar regarding particular types of packaging |
