Ken World War II project The Utah Slate Historical Society has launched a major program to collect firstof Utahns during hand experiences World War EL These accounts will be entered in the Society’s library and will be available for researchers family members and other interested individual who wish to understand better Utah's experience during the war In addition the Historical Society plans to use the accounts for several major projects to be undertaken during the upcoming 50th anniversary commemoration of the war The Historical Society is planning a museum exhibit on Utah and the War special issues of the Utah Historical Quarterly and Beehive History and in conjunction with Utah State University Press a book entitled Utah Remembers World War II which will be published in the fall fo 1991 The Utah State Historical Society would like to see information about Utah and World War II come from all counties and cities of the state and from individuals who represent a wide variety of experienced including not just those who served in the military but those who were mothers fathers brothers and sisters of those in the military wives those who came as war brides after the war those who came as immigrants and rcf&gees because of the war individuals who worked in the defense industries railcoal and roading and transportation copper mining steel manufacturing construction livestock industries sugar orchards beet farming agriculture business education medicine religious and government activities In short the Utah Slate Historical Society is interesed in documenting as completely as possible accounts the experiences from of Utahns from all backgrounds during the World War II period The World War II project is being conducted under the direction of Utah State Historical Society Historian Kent Powell Dr Powell is actively seeking the following: Personal narratives of Utahns alive and deceased about their wartime experiences 2 Letters documents and artifacts which might be added to the Historical Society’s World War II collection and be used in museum exhibits 3 The names of individuals who would be candidates for taped interviews about their wartime experiences 4 Individuals who would be interested in conducting interviews with formants about the World War II and individuals who might be interested in helping transcribe the interviews Individuals who would like to provide the Utah Slate Historical Society with copies of written experiences suggest the names of individuals who might be interviewed or participate in any way in the project should write to married Eddys Bennett June 27 1935 in Fillmore Utah later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple Archie attended the Sugarvillc and Delta schools He was active in the LDS Church served as Secretary of the High Priest Quorum and as a counselor in theh Sunday School Archie served cm the Delta City Council for 8 years He was Millard Co Road Supervisor for a number of years at one time he had a fleet of trucks and contracted to haul 80000 ton of Manganese ore to the Geneva Steel Plant at Orem It was the first Manganese ore to be used at Geneva He is survived by his wife of Delta sons A Keith Marysville Gordon E Sl George U daughters Mrs Joe (Coleen) Stewart Delta Mrs Wayne (Linda) Crabb Portland OR 25 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren a great granddaughter Brittany Stewart age 6 died in neighborhood has missed his singing and whistling since his going to the care center His hobbies were working with cattle and riding the range He is survived by wife Oak City sons and daughters:
