short to Hurricane The Lady Eagles played the Hurricane Tigers on Eagle turf Wednesday January 24 Hurricane pulled away in the final minute to win Both teams came out strong playing defense and offense well Hurricane took advantage of early buckets and lead at the 1st quarter In the second quarter the Eagles picked up the pace to close the gap to four Hurricane held the lead as the teams finished the third quarter with the score for the Tigers The Lady Eagles closed the gap to two but Hurricane capitalized on some Millard mistakes to pull away and win over the Eagles Noe Yamaguchi was the high scorer Swimmers will notice the pool has new plastic floor tiles in the locker rooms The tiles are one foot square and snap into each other to cover the whole floor The tiles keep the dressing rooms dry and warm They also have a cleaner look than the old concrete floor The windstorm that ripipied through town on Jan 26 tipped a row of solar panels over onto another row up on the roof of the pool The pool’s maintenance cleaned up the mess and will get the solar panels in working order for summer Beginning February 12 the pool will once again be opened at 3:30 pm for open swim The swim team will be going to the state swimming finals February 10 and they will be through using the pool to practice in during that time Winter Swim Lessons The fourth session of swim lessons for with the Wildcats and at the end of the second quarter they were only 4 points behind “We played so well the first half and we really frustrated Cuff by playing two men on him" said Travis Blackwelder At the half the Rabbits realized they were in arms reach of easily winning the number one ranked team in the Region and Coach Jensen only had to remind them The Rabbit squad was only to face a nightmare of shooting only ten per cent from the field which was making three by shots out of thirty Three points were added to the Rabbits' score m the third quarter and eight Delta was points in the fourth oulscored a total of 27 points in the last half leaving the Rabbits with a loss which shattered their five straight win record “We seem to lose our heads sometimes I think we all had them be played Their next game is in on Wednesday Kanab Wednesday Feb 7 Eagles lose close one The Millard Eagles traveled to Beaver twice only to lose in double overtime The Eagles made their first trip on Friday January 26 but in a strange turn of event a power outage forced postponement of the game with Millard with 2:14 left in the secleading ond quarter The continuation of the game was scheduled for T uesday January 30 The game went on from where it left off Not much had changed by halftime as Millard still held the lead at Darin Cummings scored six in the 3rd quarter to keep Millard’s lead at 5 In the final period Beavers' Travis Hugh and Jared Goff combined for 12 points to cut Millard's lead and send the game into overtime with the score tied at 63 The Eagles played well despite the fact that two starters Kelly Olson and Kent Sanderson fouled out in regulation and the sixth man Casey Petersen whose play off the bench helped Millard in the losing cause fouled out early in the first overtime period In the end the Beavers just and out pi ayed Millard winning “Our shooting was percentage than theirs" Coach Fennis higher Moore stated “and we out rebounded them until the end but ahead in the first quarter but Rick Robins kept the Eagles close with 11 first quarter points and the score was in favor of North Sevier at the end of the period The Eagles remained within two at the half at In the third quarter North Sevier pulled ahead as Nathan Hallows and Robert Torgerson combined for 19 points and the wolves were up Robins caught fire in the 4th period for a total of 3 hitting 3 in the quarter Darin Cummings iced the game hitting two foul shots in the final seconds The Eagles oulscored the wolves in the Fourth Quarter to win Robins finished the game with 28 points 7 rebounds and 4 assists 2 steals and a blocked shot to lead the Eagles Cummings had 18 points and 6 rebounds and Kelly Olson had 7 rebounds “It was a team effort" coach Moore commented “We got a 100
