DNES salutes The Highway 6 Truck Stop ! Delta North and Della South are proud to have the Highway 6Truck Stop as their fourth reading sponsor this year The Truck Stop is located on the east side of Highway 6 as you head out of Delta on your way to Lynndyl Leamington or other points north It is owned by Don Poulsen and Rick Farnsworth both of Delta Highway 6 Truck Stop is a combination restaurant gas station and convenience store that has been in operation since July 15 1989 Rick Farnsworth manager of the restaurant claims to have been in the food business “almost since birth" His parents' Hatch and Lola Farnsworth owned and operated Hatch’s City Cafe in Delta for several years before the Topham family purchased it in 1967 Delta North Elementary is happy to have Tina DeGraw aboard our janitorial crew Tina is a student sweeper at our school and works from 3:30 to 5:30 each weeknight Tina was bom in Farmington New Mexico and has also lived in Payson Utah She has one brother and three sisters She attended Park View Elementary and is currently enrolled at Delta High School Tina likes to keep busy She began working for Della North Elementary last spring when Lynn Works retired! She has also worked at babysitting and housecleaning In her spare lime Tina cooking enjoys reading and mathematics From her elementary years Tina remembers when her fourth grade teacher Mr Mosbarger was given an award by the PTA The PTA called him Mr Mooscburger! So far Tina has enjoyed her work at DNES She says the school is easy to clean and there is absolutely no one around to bother her w hile she is working! We appreciate Tina's good work and thank her for the lime she spends in helping to maintain Delta North Margaret Murdock the ODDM Developmental Model) philosophy which is a school improvement model One of the is that teachers must tenets of ODDM work closely together on grade level teams to develop units of instruction that will assure maximum student productivity Delta North and Delta South Elementary wish to thank the SUSC student teachers who substituted in our classrooms during the workshop Dr Kevin Robison student teacher coordinator for the Cedar City based college adminidistrict cooperated closely with stration in providing this valuable service to our community He commented that the teaching experience" was as valuable for his group of student teachers as the Core Workshop was for our district teachers We agree with him Rick is an outstanding chef and has helped to maintain the excellent reputation for fine food that has long been associated with our Delta community Highway 6 Truck Stop is happy to share in the reading program of die Delta Area Chamber of Commerce and the local elementary schools Rick comments “I love kids and we’re happy to provide this service to them for their reading efforts" Students who earned 600 Busy Bee Bucks for their December reading tivities were awarded a certificate for a FR EE big Combo (hamburger fries and a shake) Students must be accompanied by an adult wherr redeeming any DACCDNESDSES certificate We continue to encourage participating families to make this a special event for their children DNES salutes Margaret Murdock Delta North Elementary is happy to welcome Margaret Murdock aboard our Special Education staff Margaret was recently hired to work with RaNac Christensen as a three hour instructional assistant during the morning hours Margaret was bom in Dayton Idaho She has four brothers and five sisters She has also lived in Lava Ho Springs and Roberts Idaho She has lived in Logan Utah as well Margaret attended Roberts Elementary and graduated from Westside High School in Dayton She also attended Ricks College Margaret is married to Roland Murdock originally from Dayton Idaho The Murdocks have 9 children namely: Kim Robert Kathie Robin Jon Brian Scott Rick and Jana Beth They also enjoy 9 grandchildren Mrs Murdock enjoys keeping busy She has worked for Clara's Cleaners and also at the Della Middle School in the Special Education program In her spare time she likes to read and complete a variety of craft projects Mrs Murdock remembers her elementary years with fondness She is amazed at what students lcam now-- in comparison to what she was taught! are Kindergarten and even the equivalent of what was taught when she was in first grade! That sounds familiar to ALL of us doesn’t it?
