Most high school students don’t eat enough of the things they should and some of them don’t even eat enough period As almost everybody knows the four main food groups are grains dairy fruits and vegetables and meats Breakfast is said by nutrition experts to be the most important meal of the day When some Delta High students were asked what they did and didn’t eat 50 of the boys ate breakfast and 50 of that percentage ate eggs or oatmeal toast and milk andor juice Of the girls 40 eat break fast and 60 of them eat a big breakfast 60 of the teachers on the other hand eat breakfast To eat a well balanced breakfast one must include eggs or oatmeal juice or milk toast and bacon or sausage For lunch milk meats some kind of fruit or vegetable and bread or a roll is what should be eaten Between of the girls in Delta eat lunch of the boys and compared with 80 95 of the teachers Most of the people asked said that they do not eat school lunch Included in dinner should be a meat bread milk and a vegetable or fruit Out of the teachers asked 95 of them said that they usually eat dinner at home 60 of the girls eat dinner and 90 of the boys said that they eat dinner Almost everybody snacks on cookies chips cake etc and this is where the most sugar usually comes from 93 of the boys snack while onof ly 60 of the girls snack and 40 the teachers snack Alot of people are also addicted to pop and have to make a Harts run at least once a day Only 30 of the girls say that they drink pop and only 30 of the girls said that they drink pop and only 20 go to Harts drink regularly Among teachers 40 pop and 20 go to Harts With the boys its a different story with 84 Harts to drinking pop 75 going Alot of people (girls especially) don’t eat enough For instance one girl terviewed only eats dinner all day no breakfast or lunch This is probably just as bad as eating to much as it slows down the speed at which the body should grow Nutrition experts say that Americans generally eat too much food and have to much cholesterol fat sugar and salt All these things increase chances of having a heart attack later in life Kevin Wasden Daniel Cummings Art Show ’Til Feb 21 Sterling Scholar Jason North Fantastical pictures of elves and dwarves are part of Kevin Wasden’s art show at the Fillmore public library The show uses several mediums - pencil watercolor pen and ink and pastel Kevin prefers pencil or pen and ink but he wants to learn acrylic Kevin’s favorite subjects are people They come from “a world in my head Those (the subjects of his art show) are just some of the people” Kevin plans on illustrating novel covers Darel Sweet Boris Valejo and Elmore are the illustrationists Kevin admires The art show lasts until February 21 at the public library Come and enjoy some excellent works by “Guys & Dolls” auditions this week MHS Drama Director Ben Carling announced last week that Millard’s musical this year would be “Guys & Dolls” Casting will be done a little differently this year After auditioning all the interested High School students will be open to the community Wednesday Feb 15 and Thursday Feb 16 students will audition Friday Feb 17 from 9:15 to noon and before school at 7:45 am anyone from the Lead part community may audition candidates should prepare a short musical number and will then read cold from the script Audition scripts will be available Feb 13 from the office for those wishing to prepare a reading Bring your own accompanist “Guys & Dolls” is a wonderful show set in the early fifties in New York’s downtown area Gamblers nightclub dancers and salvation missionaries all come together in an intriguing story full of fun and laughs Production dates are April 21 22 and 24 Time ard ticket prices are yet to be announced Anyone who would like to set up a spcial appointment for an audition due to conflicts with the announced times may contact Mr Carling at the high All performance school parts are open as well as any crew or technical ROW: Erica Moore Katherine Bunker Sarah Spencer Josh Creathouse Marisha Corey bottom John Styler Tim Johnson Suzanna Larsen Erica Moore Not pictured: Megan Rawlinson positions TOP Is - JL k' 4 fP I Ao x T S m v W k 's r Annie Draper Kirk Owens Skyler Nielson Stacy Tasker bottom Heidi Draper Tony Lang Kimberly Wood Becky Bunker Not pictured: Megan Rawlinson TOP ROW: DNES PTA Reflections Program winners announced The judging is complete and the winning Reflections entries have been announced!
