"Very” Rex says "It’s :haUenging exciting ft’s fun to woik with people I really enjoy people A id it’s also rewarding to get to know ea h family a little bit better and to help hem with then needs especially when iisses occur We pride ouiselves on giv n the service we have over the years W c (eel like we’ve done ith the people and they ’ve a super job been gieat to us” Association has no direct authority over it "They have maybe advisory responsibility but nothing more than that" he said A similar problem exists with the Mental Health Authority Board Styler said "So we said why don't we just put the structure the way it really is?" he said "Let’s help the commissioners understand what the limits of their authority really are" Clarification will firm up the group’s authority over some boards "but in the majority of cases it loosens it" Styler said Several meetings have been held recently to discuss the reorganization Mayors in Millard County cities and towns met with county commissioners at the Jan II commission meeting m nilmor e to discuss the plan Styler said already includes mayors but the reorganization would change the role they play in the gioup "Our Lconoroic Development Board as it is now set up has one commissioner and one mayor from each county" Styler said "That could become our association of governments "We’d have municipal and nonAH municipal entities represented you’d need to do to make it the Economic Development District Board is add a few private citizens from business and minorities Then according to federal law you have your The future looks good to Rex Day '“We’re excited about it" he says "We have one of the largest if not the largest agencies in central Utah And it looks like it's doing really well We’re really happy with it" Leaving the Delta area is not an option in that future "We’ve had some opportunities to leave" Rex says "but we really love this area We really do We like the people and we like their titude We’ve been happy here" Retirement is also not in the near future lor Rex '“Right now I could just go on forever" he says '“J really really do enjoy working with the public especially in the Delta area These people are really great We’re hoping to expand over into Eillmoie and into that area because that’s another bunch of good people ovei there and we want to do ail the surance business we can" Rex’s business philosophy: "1 think if you work hard at things and you’ie honest and try to treat people lair then the hving will come You have to woik hard you have to play hard but il you really put your enetgies into farming oi whatever you’re doing it’s going to pay standjxnnt" W henever IPA and the tax commission are at odds Peafson said the county pays "We’re the ball" he sard "they’re the teams We’re just being passed back and forth and dribbled around We have to insist they continue to negotiate The longer tliat money sits there in the trust account it certainly does not benefit us" Jer’E Brinkerhol! Commissioner characterized the talks and the prospects for improved relations with JPA as good "Our a'forneys are going to meet and talk I think they’ll work things out" he said DD Boaid Make it a true association ol governments And simply by adding a tew more people to it you also have your Economic Development Board " Commissioner Jer’E Bnnkerhotf attended another meeting in Nephi Wednesday Jan 25 "They presented a plan that combines Panoramaiand and Economic Development" Btinkerholl said "T hey used to have two people hired to do that They may hire one person to be over it They got a committee to review it and make a recommendation" Yet another meeting on the plan was held Wednesday I eb I in Gunnison hat involved members of the Economic Development District Board “They have approved the concept" “styler said Presentations have been made to the Pmate fndustiy Council the Economic Development District Board the Panoiamaland Advisory Board and the itself Commission Styler said So far he said reception has been good "So many people are involved heie that you need to explain to them all" Styler said "It’s a difficult thing trying not to get the cart before the horse ft’s veiy complicated " Chronicle Progress Gel results with Call Rita at or Evelyn at ads AA MEETING SCHEDULE Monday 8 pra Chefs Palace 225 Past Main Open Meeting Wednesday - 8 pm Mental Health Office 51 North Center Closed W Health Office Mental Onfral Ufah Vocational Wt-- ORDER EARLY!
