We hope every family in East Millard will read and remember this notice The Spring meetings of the Library Beard brought out the need to find more finances for the running of the library This is the first year there has been a cost for heating and before we have used the library in the City Office Building For several months the board members have been trying to find a way to crease winter we mailed out st letters to request at great expense donations to all the families of East Millard The response was not rewarding In June the Fillmore City Council set the same budget as last year which will have to include heating etc They are presently paying about $16 per family for the library because of the registered patrons are from outside the city If these funds were relieved either by the patron paying for a card or their town board sending money for their citizens we could maintain our service and also open extra hours for the patron’s convenience After discussion all town boards with the options were contacted Meadow elected to pay for their means any person in Meadow may use the library free (with the exception of a small postage fee for loans) during the fiscal Holden and Kanosh year of are still considering the proposal but Scipio declined and is asking theii citizens to pay their own These cards will become due every July In an oral survey Mrs Hunter conducted at Library Workshop at the University of Utah last fall it was found that no library allowed the use of their facilities to anyone outside their taxing district without paying for a card It was also determined that these cards cost not less than $10 per dividual and up to $25 each We are suggesting a charge of $5 per family Services Offered We have approximately 15000 books on hand 60 periodical subscriptions current and back issues for research atlasses maps six sets of encyclopedias plus one set on gardening one on sports (4 sets may be checked out) an outstanding set of for both youth and adult a good religion selection copying service loan service audio visual equipment (to be used in the library only) supervised testing for those takfrom courses ing correspondence universities information service bicentennial shelves of books on the constitution children’s story hour book festival art exhibits and other displays public meeting room (free to and presently groups) teaching adult reading to two classes each three times a week One of our most appreciated assets is our air conditioning and pleasant spacious library We certainly wish to express our gratitude to all who have helped in any way to build this new facility We know the citizens of the entire East Millard communities (and others also) have sacrificed greatly to make this dream come true Now we want all to come in and enjoy it —See you in the Librar- y- Doug Stott attends NLCSO Doug Stott of Meadow Utah has just recently returned from the National Leadership Conference for FFA State Officers held in Tuscon Arizona State FFA officers representing Utah Arizona Colorado and New Mexico attended the seminars featuring Problem Solving Decision Making Public Relations Positive Attitude FFA Activities and other related subjects Two National FFA Officers Kevin Yost National FFA Secretary from Nebraska and Dean Harder National FFA from Minnesota conducted the conference and officiated at all the sessions and activities Doug enjoyed this great conference and felt it would be very beneficial to him and his fellow officers He reports that the training he received in Tucson will be a valuable asset in his upcoming year as State FFA President Q M application for a A pension was turned dona several years ago because my income was too high There have been some changes in my health and income over the last few years Should I apply again?
