citizens attended the Seminar from the National Center for Constitutional Studies held in Delta We Friday and Saturday Thursday received many things to think seriously about We were very impressed President Millard Fillmore Library later this fall Constitution Shelves We have set aside two shelves in our section for books solely on the Constitution and its writers About half of our books are here now We have mentioned our grant from the National Endowment of Humanities but wish to report that all before books on our list have been ordered We expect shipment in the near future When the the battle against cancer cell growth Dr Morris J Robins professor of heads a team of internachemistry and graduate tional students in making new types of nucleosides (modified genetic components) that will be tested as inhibitors of enzymes necessary for the growth of cancer cells Research assistants are Mexico from Italy Bangladesh Australia Belgium and the United States The grant brings the total to more than $715000 given to BYU and Cancer Chemistry Department Research Center scientists during the past 20 years by the national ACS research office Funding for Robins’ grant began the first of July and is a continuation of a research program he developed at the University of Alberta in Edomonton “This will be a new direction in using enzyme mechanisms that have been deciphered by biochemists and chemists throughout the world” Robins said “We will use enzyme mechanisms to design compounds which could inhibit the enzyme’s function thereby stopping growth of cancer cells” Robins joined the BYU faculty last January after teaching chemistry and conducting research at the University of Alberta at Edmonton for more than 17 years The Scipio Utah native graduated in 1957 from Millard High School He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Utah in 1961 and doctoral degree in organic chemistry from Arizona State University in 1965 Robins served as a lady Zina Kelly of Fillmore She was born July 17 1892 in Fillmore the eighth of 12 children Her parents were Christian and Hannah Anderson He owned a printing office and drug store in Fillmore and as a young girl Zina worked in the printing office with her father and set type for him At that time the roller press was used and she became an expert at typesetting She also attended and graduated from Millard High School To widen her scope of friends and she moved to Salt Lake achievements City where she was employed for five years by the ZCMI Dept store and by Aurbachs’ for five years In Dec of 1931 she married James A Kelly and they resided in Delta later moving to Fillmore He served in the Utah State Legislature a number of years until he died in 1951 After his death she worked with the State Legislature for three sessions and then returned to Fillmore where she was employed by the J Francis Kelly Dept Store until she was 80 years old when she retired She has worked in the Mutual program as it was known then for the LDS Church has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary the Fine Arts Guild and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Since her retirement Zina has been active in many things and does some She participates in Senior traveling Citizen activities and likes to dance During the interview her agility keen mind and eyesight and especially her noble qualities were very evident She is truly a lovely stately lady many years younger than her 95 years Her birthday celebration which was much anticipated by her was held in the home of her nephew and wife Bill and Charlene Higgins Her dearly loved niece and husband Stena and Rufus Merrill of Pocatello Idaho attended the special occasion along with their and husband from Idaho daughter Falls At least 65 friends
