weekend with parents Harold and Belva Morris On Saturday Carl and Beryl Hardy went to Holden to celebrate Father’s Day with Beryl’s father Clyde Wood Family members from Salt Lake were Lavon and Earl Hunter Wyla and Rulon Sherwood and Eudene Thompson We enjoyed a lovely dinner and all had a nice time visiting I can’t leave out mom She was there also and we love them both Wayne Thora Ward and NaRae Peterson left on June 11 for New Orleans The first day they drove to TX This was a beautiful Albuquerque drive After two days of driving through beautiful pine trees and swampy land and oil pumps they arrived in Lake Charles where they met Jill and husband (Jill is Ward and NaRae’s Then they daughter and drove on into Baton Rouge then New Orleans where they spent two nights We went to the French Quarter Bourbon Street and had dinner and a cruise on the Creole Queen Then we started on our way home We went to Morgan City While there we went to the swamp museum and saw alligators and one of the oldest Cyprus trees that is left standing Also while there we went to the Century House and saw some of the costumes that are on display from the Mardi Gras Parade Then on to Alexander LA then to Bowre TX From there to New Mexico and then to Colorado In Pueblo CO we went to the Royal Forge then over the Continental Divide Montrose and Junction CO and on home Everyone had such a good time we were sorry that when we stopped on our way through Colorado NaRae had the misfortune of falling and breaking her arm Better luck next time NaRae Gene and Carol Bishop held their family reunion at their home June 20 There were 33 family members present There was a lot of visiting done and sandbox swimming pools etc were provided for the youngsters A planned pot luck dinner was held and plenty to eat Out of towners were Gary and Rita Dansie sons Billy Shawn and friend from Orem Billy and Gwen Rogers and family Chad and Lary Hardy and two children Stephanie Rogers Frances Rogers and son from Milford Steven and Shaunda Bishop and two children from Enock Cragi from Antelope Springs Vicki Halsey from West Valley City Stan Bishop and two children and friend Teresa Andeson and baby Brad and Jackie Bishop and three daughters from Wendover And Carol’s mother Golda Christensen from Delta Craig went to National Guard so Carol rode up to Vicki’s with him Then Carol and Vicki visited other family members in Salt Lake and Randolph before returning home On Wednesday of last week visitors at the home of Carl and Beryl Hardy were Mrs Sheldon Turnidge from Bountiful They were one of the couples that were serving a mission in Papua New Guinea when we were there They brought with them Mrs On June 4 a group of people from this area boarded a tour bus to go to OR to attend the Portland Portland Rose Festival and see other points of interest Going from here were Cleone Tolbert Elaine Turner Bert and Nell Sorenson Max and Laurel Johnson Maurine and Karl and Campbell Eleanor Murray Karl and Eleanor’s daughter Joan and husband Bill Simpson came from Washington and met the tour in Portland Besides the Festival of Roses they attended a band concert The Symphony and a concert OR In Florence by the Lettermen Karl Eleanor Cleone and Elaine had dinner and spent the evening with former Abraham residents Raliegh and Peggy Franklin They returned home on June 11 Don and Lois Chaplin came from Kanab to spend the weekend with Lola Stoneking and attend the wedding reception for Mari Ann Adams and Tony Trillo Helen Marie Sutton came from Clover to see Don and Lois while they were here Mrs Ken Thatcher have recently made trips to Dillon Montana and Chandler AZ Their daughter Hazel Maiben went with them to Ariz The Sherrill Tolbert family spent a week in Heber City to attend and participate in the high school rodeo Troy Tolbert entered several events and came home with his share of the prizes Monte and Tina Myers from Cedar Ci- - ty joined the family on Saturday for the final day Our community was saddened by the death of Ladd Fullmer on June 20 Ladd has been in poor health for have He and Dorothy sometime recently moved to Flowell from Mammoth AZ All of his children were here from Fullmer Owen funeral for the Addy WA is staying for a while to help his mother Don Fullmer and all of his sisters were here for the funeral They are cousins of Ladd Garland and Phyllis Johnson returned home Wed from a vacation to Wyoming Montana and Idaho Bear Lake in Utah and Idaho is the bluest blue you’ll ever see The Paris Idaho Stake Tabernacle which was build in the 1880’s is really a monument to the craftsmen of that day We made a short toured stop in Yellowstone Park Butte MT and Deer Lodge MT In Salmon ID we visited my sister Faun and husband Carl Guillette and Natalie Gale and Andrea daughters In Gooding ID we visited my grandsister Thelma mother’s Peterson Butler and Jim and Nora (Wise) Bohn The weather was nice and cool and it was good to get away and always good to come home DELTA Eddys Barken Ph: On Saturday evening June 27 Arch and Eddys Barben celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary and Eddys’ birthday They enjoyed a delicious dinner hosted by Colleen and Joe Stewart at Rick’s Restaurant Those attending were Colleen and Joe Stewart Russell and Kristann Stewart and Jennifer and Brittney Stewart Mr Gordon Barben of St George UT and Arch and EdBarbara and Bevin dys Barben Thompson joined the group and they all had a very nice visit together The Thompsons live in Salt Lake and had just returned home from a beautiful trip to Oregon and California They traveled down the coast and enjoyed the sights along the oceanside Rod and Melva Shields and and Dorene Meimburg of daughter Salt Lake City just recently returned from a On trip to Louisiana their way going they stopped in Hobbs NM for a visit with their granddaughter Julie and Blair Curtis Julie is the daughter of Shirley and Pete Shields In Fort Polk LA they visited another Kenneth and Jamie granddaughter Kohl Jamie is the daughter of Jim and Dorene Meimburg The main purpose of this trip was to see the baby girl born to the Kohl family recently She was blessed and named Whitney Bianna Kohl In Denver CO they visited their grandson Zachary Frampton (son of John and Ann Shields Frampton) and his wife who is the daughter of Bob and Joyce Ashby They traveled through 10 states and enjoyed the clean lush and ' beautiful scenery Mrs Deona Black took Shelly Aaron and Sarah Black and Megan with her to Montpelier grandchildren Idaho for the wedding reception of Kevin Tolbert and Kari Lynn Hanson 13 June The wedding was at the Boise LDS Temple and was attended by all of Paulene’s sisters and husbands: Grayson and Cheryl Roper Dorothy Arbuckle also from Bountiful They will be leaving for Papua New Guinea in July The day was spent visiting and telling mission experiences Mike Brown had the misfortune to fall I hear that he is wearing a cast Hope you hurry and get better Mike A Wright family reunion was held at the Hinckley Chapel on Saturday of last week There were over 300 hundred in attendance A pot luck lunch was enjoyed and the afternoon spent organizing a Joseph Wright family organizaArabian horse tion A thoroughbred was raffled off and Belva Morris was the lucky winner Games were played and everyone had fun meeting family members that they had never seen before What I am wondering is what Belva will do with an Arabian horse afternoon On Saturday Rodney Wright left for a trip to Israel and Egypt with Marlow Neilson group that is making a tour of these places Family members to see their father off on this trip were Bob Elwin Edward John and Mel We will have more on the trip when Rodney gets home A happy surprise for Russell and Leslie Talbot came Tuesday morning when the phone rang and it was from Social Services telling them that they had a baby girl for them They were to be in Salt Lake by 10 am Wednesday to get their bundle of joy Everyone is happy for them After waiting for so long home waiting for the wee little She miss is big brother Brandon weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long Grandpa Cluff said she looks just hair on top but the family barbecue and dinner at the home of Mrs Joe Stewart in honor of Father’s Day Gor- don was traveling to Park City to atseminar for a tend an educational week Norma Hanson Sonne wife of Richard B Sonne died June 10 1987 at the Stanford University Hospital after a long illness She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Saints and a longtime of member of the Palo Alto Garden Club Bom in Fillmore Utah February 23 1914 Mrs Sonne was the eldest of five daughters of Lorenzo and Ora Rose Hanson On September 5 1939 she married Richard B Sonne in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Of their three children Shirley Ann Griffin resides in Sacramento California Karma Jean Hills in San Ramon California and Richard H Sonne in St Louis Missouri There are eleven grandchildren The Sonnes have been continuous residents of Palo Alto since 1942 Mrs Sonne’s church activities include service in the children’s Primary and in the women’s Relief Society of the Palo Alto Ward For five years she served as Matron of the Oakland LDS Temple while her husband was president She also filled supporting roles while her husband was a bishop stake president regional representative and temple president as well as vice president and controller of the Del Monte Corporation She served on the Board of Directors and several committees of the Palo Alto Garden Club In addition to her husband and children she is survived by her four sisters LaPriel Palmer of Danville Jean Stephenson of Sacramento California Enid Sonne of Salt Lake City and Leora Wilson of Logan Utah Funeral services were held
