Riverside Marilyn Andengaard California are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Cymoni to son of Mr and Brett A Whatcott Mrs Garn A Whatcott of Fillmore They will be married in the Manti on Tuesday July 14 1987 A Temple reception will be held in their honor that evening from 7 to 9 pm in the Fillmore Senior Citizens Center No vitations are being sent locally FLOWELL Virgie Ivie Ph The family of the late Joseph and Frederekki Christensen held a reunion at the wildlife park in Fillmore June 20 Those from here attending were Robert and Zoe Christensen and their son Scott and his wife Christen of Logan Verle Christensen and sons Randall and Kathy and children of Cedar City Allan and Janis and children of Delta Paul and Peggy and family Clark Terisa and 3 children and her brother of Lehi Archie Shirley and Nancy Archie’s sons Kevin and Marlene and family Ken and Serena and children Lester and Sonja and family Sandy Ruth Allen sons Dean Rex and Lynn and children daughter Clarice Hurd Michelle and Michael of Connie Orem Ruth’s sister Lillian McArthur her daughters Sue and two children Madlyn St George Loy Ann and husband Wayne McClendon Mesquite They enjoyed visiting and good food and the nice surroundings of the park Paula Ivan and Marge Christensen and her family her husband Fred was unable to attend About 94 family members were in attendance Veta Rasmussen is home from the University Hospital in Salt Lake City She arrived this last weekend feeling much better Her son Grant brought her home along with his two daughters Jackie and Leslie and his brother Don’s son Kasey who is helping Grant on the farm Veta visited in Bountiful with her son Don his wife Lynn and family for several days after her stay in the hospital Prior to her going to Salt Lake with Grant she accompanied Bruce and daughter her everyone is invited to attend Cymoni is a 1984 graduate of Arlington High School in Riverside California She is currently attending BYU where she is majoring in English Brett graduated from Millard High School in 1978 He served a mission to Melbourne Australia and graduated from Utah Technical College in 1983 He is currently employed by Murdock’s Import Body Shop in Provo The couple will live in Orem R Myrledean Bown of Manti to Ely for a weekend the fore part of June They were guests of Veta’s sister and Marie and Smith Robinson Grant his daughters and Kasey will go to Salt Lake June 26 to attend a Rasmussen family reunion of his wife Melba’s family the Maynard Rasmussens on June 27 He plans to return to Flowell Sunday June 28 Mrs Don Tomkinson were in Salt Lake City on business June 16 They visited their son and Andy and Sherril Tomkinson They brought three of their grandchildren the twins Cherry and Trisha and Gabriel home with them They enjoyed these little folks and had such a fun time taking them for a picnic in the park in Fillmore also to see their great grandmother Nona Tomkinson at the Fillmore Hospital On June 20 Don and Ilena took the children to their home The Tomkinsons attended the wedding and reception of Ilena’s niece Denise and her husband Al The bride is the daughter of Ilena’s sister Anna Evans and her husband Ken The reception was held in the beautiful outdoor garden of the bride’s parents ena was honored by singing several numbers on the program On June 24 Janet Wright and daughter Melia came to visit daughter and Christina and Rodney Tomkinson After spending an enjoyable day Janet returned to her home in Hurricane leaving Melia to spend a week with Christina and Rodney As soon as school was over Dexter and Laura Lee Anderson and children traveled to Springfield OR They spent ten days with her parents Elmer and Orpha Chase They also visited her brothers Elmer Chase Jr his wife and family The scenery and weather were both beautiful April Johnson celebrated her first 1987 birthday on Wednesday July To help her celebrate were grandmas aunts uncles cousins big grandpas sister Jacie and of course mom and dad with cake and ice cream April is the daughter of Bevan and Jacci Johnson of Fillmore Her grandparents are Jack and Edna McBride and Abe and Annette Johnson both of Fillmore Great grandparents are Gene and Lillian McBride of Fillmore Helen Smith of Roy Utah and Ned and Madge Church of Delta FILLMORE Angie Green Zina Hunter has been more than busy with a round of family visitors Her son Larry his wife and children of Portland OR came to Utah last week leaving their son Kendall at BYU where he will attend summer classes and then driving on to Fillmore where they spent three days with Zina Shortly after their departure Zina’s granddaughters Joyce Wallace and her two children from Calif and Kathy Anderson and her four children of Salt Lake City arrived June 24 Joyce and her children flew from Calif to Salt Lake City where she was met by her two sisters and brother She spent a week visiting with them before her sister Kathy drove her on to Fillmore She will spend a week with Zina before her husband Terry Wallace joins her and they return to Calif together with children of course Steve and June Kelly and their five children Shawn Monica Chris Erin and Kaylene left Fillmore June 11 for MO a 23 hour drive to Springfield where they attended Steve’s 20 year class reunion While in Springfield they stayed with Steve’s brother Martin Kelly and family and also spent a week with Steve’s parents Louis and Ruby Kelly in Parsons KS coming home June 22 Afton Stevens recently underwent surgery for the implant of a pacemaker She is home now but having some bad days while her body adjusts to this new device Afton you have my best wishes and I know your friends and family members are all concerned and wish you a speedy recovery Henry and Nina Mitchell Eastwood of Oxnard CA spent a few days last week visiting with Nina’s brother Lloyd Mitchell his wife Helen their children and also other family members before going to American Fork and Orem where they visited with their sons Gordon and Scott Eastwood and their families They will be returning to Fillmore July 3 to attend the HS Mitchell family reunion at the wildlife park of Shirm and their way to Pleasant Grove UT from St George where they enjoyed a weeks vacation with Shirm’s parents In Pleasant Grove they will spend three days with Irene’s parents Mrs Ovid Jeppson and on June 25 attend a Carlson family celebration in Sandy honoring their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary I really enjoyed their visit It has been five years since last seeing them and my how the boys have grown They have eight sons The oldest Ron is serving a mission Scott is in the mission home in Provo preparing for a mission and Mike is in Washington DC on a tour he won in high school ' were Well I did! and now it’s over and we’re trying to get back to normal (whatever that is!) I went to Arizona for a couple of weeks and missed horpe very much while having a good time with my sister We read books talked about others and visited libraries among other things Now that we have surveyed the libraries at Pima Thatcher Safford and the Eastern Arizona College we still feel fortunate to have our new facilities in Fillmore The space and arrangement of our library is much superior to all of them The College library has many more volumes of course but there is no space between ranges to speak of We also investigated the overdue book situation and found that they all for overdues--thcharge college charges 50 cents per hour for overdue reserve books! Video We wish to thank Video for the videos loaned to the Summer Reading Program Story Hours Their fine generosity is appreciated by the children as well as the library board and staff They are furnishing videos for three sessions of the Story Hour This weekly program continues on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room (north end) ending the second week in August Increased Use We are happy to report a large increase in the use of the library over last The children summer by ADULTS have always used the library a lot for the summer reading programs of the Elementary School and the library but the biggest increase this last month was in use by adults books and a Many new greater number of periodicals in addition to more fiction has made the selection more tempting We also have new publications of old classics which make it enticing to those old loved stories Two new softcover books from Utah Tourism have been put out which are beautiful to look at: Canyons of Utah and Ski Utah Come in and enjoy the “cool” with us there are comfortable chairs to sit and read — Art show is delightful! Ph A Lula George of Kanosh was among the forty who have returned from a trip to Europe Among the fifteen from Ferron UT were Lula’s two Eleanor George and Bertha Peterson Most of these forty passengers were members of the ALSG American Leadership Study Group Lula and some of the other passengers had a chance to fill in so took advantage of this very interesting tour Leaving Salt Lake Airport on June 9 they traveled to Denver CO where there was a two hour stop then on to Dallas TX where there was a three hour wait before flying on to London England Being 9‘i hours difference in time the passengers were surprised to see workers in the field when their watches showed it being 1:30 am Following their breakfast on the plane the forty boarded a bus (some from Tenn and GerOkla) for many where they viewed the ruins of the 1600 They explored folklore on Rhine Steamer Cruise passed castles and vineyards visited a winery to see local shiles in action then back to Heidelburg they drove through the black forest with different kinds of pine trees The Gorges of Hollental and Resorts of Titisee were Lakeside beautiful The mighty Rine Falls at Schaffhausen is Europe’s most powerful Arriving in Lucerine Switzerland they were taken on a field trip by cable car to Mt Pilatus the haunted peak where there were trails of all kinds to follow That evening the group enjoyed a walking tour of the old town of Lucerine and a cheese fondue dinner where they watched folk dancing Other places of interest were Dijon Paris where they had lunch in the French Mustard Capitol visited Cultural Center drove through northern France to Brussels visited Renaissance Mansions traveled across Dutch farmlands to Amsterdam Lidy where they saw charming districts s cluding Dutch and Flemish in the Ryksmuserim where they enjoyed an evening on a canal ride which took them past pretty floodlit houses They saw plenty of cobble stone walks and bicycles all over Having the very best hotels to stay in helped to make the trip very enjoyable Lula and her two returned home in time to attend the wedding and reception of Lula’s grandson Lloyd Kesler and new bride Kathy Lloyd and Kathy Kesler are at home in Kanosh following a honeymoon trip to Yellowstone Park They were married June 20 at the Kanosh Church Many friends and relatives were there to help them celebrate this lovely occasion Dean Perkins was on hand with his horse and cart to give the bride and groom and anyone else who desired a ride The people coming to Kanosh for the first time thought Kanosh was a lovely little town and that our church is beautiful Lloyd and Kathy wish to thank everyone who helped make this a memorable occasion for them These newlyweds will occupy the former Ethel Barney home recently Robert owned by Kathy’s grandfather Leach Willard and Dathel Whitaker and Nora Price drove to Tooele Utah on June 20 where they attended a large The Robert B Sagers Reunion Whitaker’s daughter Christine Fullmer and Brant George property north of the Steve and Patti Sorensen home We welcome these new neighbors Eddie Martin of Grantsville is a Willard and guest of his grandparents Dathel Whitaker and will be helping on the farm this summer before returning to Rick’s College to further his studies this fall Vic and Lillian Rogers spent the weekend of June 20 and 21 in Logan at the home of their son David Rogers where they also met each of their other children for the purpose of witnessing the Farewell Testimonial of their Jeff Rogers in the River grandson Heights 3rd Ward Sacrament Meeting Also present for the occasion were relatives and friends of David and Tam from Idaho Arizona Washington and Colordao making a total of 50 guests to honor Jeff before he leaves to enter the MTC on July prior to his leaving for his mission to the Fresno Calif Mission Others Rogers’ news: Lynn and Peggy Rogers have now sold their home in Springville and plan in the near future on moving up to Idaho Falls to be near their son Robert Rogers and family On Tuesday June 23 Vic and Lillian went with the Senior Citizens to the Jordan River Temple During the noon hour they had the privilege of visiting with their Helen M Rogers who lives in West Valley City She is serving for a second time in the Jordan River Temple as an ordinance worker old when he completed his piano |
