MEADOW Norma Gagon Ph Seems like I have been away a long time but it has been an exciting time Tor me I flew to Los Angeles on Aug 4 and spent several days in Garden Grove with my youngest son Paul and his family My daughter Ralene Hansen then picked me to up go to her in Harbor place City That weekend attended the Redondo Ward 50th Anniversary Reunion My husband was the 5th Bishop of that ward in 1957 wns privileged to represent him at the reception and speaking in Sacrament Meeting Many old friendships were renewed On Aug Ralene her daughters Sheila and Melinda and took their camper to drive back here We spent a few days in town then went to Salt Lake to visit other family members Ralene and girls left for home early Fri morning and don't mind saying I’m lonesome haven’t heard all that went on while was gone but can report a few items of interest and still maintain that for a small town a lot goes on here Friday night the 22nd an Open House honoring Terry and Lorrie (Jones) Peterson who were married in the Los Angeles Temple on Aug 16 was held in the Meadow Ward Cultural Hall Though this was not formal as the reception in Calif had been Lorrie was gorgeous in her wedding gown and Mary Ella was both proud and lovely in a lavendar street length dress Most of Terry’s brothers and families were in attendance as friends came to offer congratulations to the happy couple Don Beckstrand and cousin Mark were here for the bow hunt and Harold and Nadean were also pleased to have Jim and Cathy Hinds from Thompson Canada visit for a time They knew Richard when he was on his mission there There has been a steady stream of cars in front of Roma Bird’s home but the latest visitors for a few days were her brother Dwain Gull with his wife and daughter Isabel! of Delta Their son Jan was volved in an accident at the mine where he is employed in Green River WY At atn the morning of Aug 8 he was operating an auger and the glove in the on his left hand caught machinery before the power could be shut off the auger had crushed and All the elbow his arm to promangled cedures possible were used to save his arm but the damage was beyond repair and it was necessary to amputate just below the elbow When his arm heals sufficiently he will be fitted with a prosthesis which has just recently been marketed and closely resembles in coloring texture and movement a human arm Jan Pace is the nephew of Marjorie McBride and Angie Greer of Fillmore We are all very saddened by the news of Jan’s accident and pray he will soon recover and be able to return
