Gill and Mrs daughter Lois Greene made a trip to Petaluma Calif to see June’s brother Don Davis and family They had a good trip both ways and Don and family are fine Busy like the rest of us Coming for a week end visit at the home of their parents Mr and Mrs Cecil Shurtz were their children Mr and Mrs Keith Shurtz and family of Mr and Mrs Gary West Jordan Walker and four daughters from Salt Lake City Mrs Lisa Halsey and son joined them for dinner and visiting Mrs Barbara Shurtz and son Cory attended the mission report of Elder Mathew Holmes son of Wendell and Laurel Holmes of Salt Lake City Mathew returned from the Portugal mission Mrs June Losec says her wrist is improving Hope it will soon be well June and Eugene have had Sheila and Warren Allen’s two children while they took a trip Roger Shurtz and some of his family have been visiting and helping June and Eugene on the farm Also visiting were Steven and Melody Losee and family from West Jordan Mrs Evelyn Hardy of Delta Mrs Lois Greene and Mrs June Lounsbury made a trip to Ogden for a Tops convention They spent two days in meetings They had a good time Mr and Mrs Cecil Shurtz Cory and Mrs Troy Halsey and son attended Barbara’s family reunion in t iovo There are fourteen Utah living brothers and sisters in Barbara’s famiAbout ly and grandchildren one hundred fifty family members spent the day together getting acand exquainted and reacquainted Mr and Mrs changing geneology Gary Walker and four daughters and Mr Roy Shurtz and Miss Maggie from Barbara’s Matloney attended family Mr Troy Halsey recently spent ten days training with the National Guard at Cedar Ridge Mr and Mrs Reid Tippetts and Mr and Mrs Cecil Shurtz entertained at a patio party in honor of Mrs Vivian Holman friends and neighbors enjoyed a lovely chicken dinner with all the delicious trimmings They enjoyed visiting and reminiscing Mrs Holman has been here since 1919 She is a wonderful neighbor Mr and Mrs Ralph Lounsbury spent the week end in Rigby and Ririe Idaho where they attended a family reunion of Ralph’s children and grandchildren There were about seventy members in attendance Also a family from Mississippi that Ralph's son and wife met on their mission On the way home Ralph and June picked up two of her grandsons Jeremy Gill and Erik Montoya from Salt Lake and brought them home for a visit They’ve been a big help in weeding burning weeds and picking currents Mr and Mrs Manley Abbott had three of their grandchildren from Clinton visit with them They are the children of Mr and Mrs Danny Abbott Mrs Hilda Oliver attended the Losee family reunion in Green River She went over on Friday and took two grandchildren with her and then Larry and Mary went over on Saturday It was a three day reunion They had a wonderful time with about one hundred fifty people attending Hilda also attended the RSVP dinner and meeting in Nephi The Jolly Stitchers met at the Pizza Parlor for their Spring Luncheon Twelve members attended The food was delicious and the visiting was enjoyable After the dinner a surprise birthday cake was brought in and Happy Birthday was sung to member June Lounsbury Mr and Mrs Tony Clark are the proud grandparents of a grandson born to their daughter and husband Suzanne and Bryan Christensen He was born on June 5th and weighed in at 10 pounds and 2 ounces His name will be Brandon Oliver Christensen Both mother and son are doing fine Congratulations Mrs Ireta Shurtz and Mrs Yvonne Shurtz visited with their mother Mrs Mary Robinson in Fillmore She is feeling better Elden and Ireta and son Adam went to the Spencer reunion in Provo Jay and Yvonne Shurtz were in charge of it About seventy people attended and it was very enjoyable ABRAHAM Phyllis Johnson Ph: On June 5th Jan Turner underwent surgery on her elbow and hands in Payson Hospital Her folks Pete and Lois Kakunes came from Salt Lake to help out for two weeks Jan reports she is recovering nicely On June 16th Loretta Tenney went to Logan with Tom and Sandy Tenney She attended a week long music clinic at the USU Marilyn Tenney and grandsons Nathan and Aaron Tenney went to Logan on the 21st to attend the concert and to bring Loretta home Loretta received a nice trophy for being chosen outstanding student in the concert band She plays the trumpet Tom and Sandy Tenney are going to spend the summer here They will move into Betty Johnson’s house Betty Johnson is moving into the new Delta Sands Apartments in Delta Karla Corry came from Santaquin one day this week to help her with the moving All of her children have been giving her a helping hand Merrill and Carol Johnson from American Fork and Kim and Betsy Bauer from Orem will be here this week end Betty will be missed in Sutherland but she will be out to visit often A baby boy arrived on May 23rd for James and Juliene Withers at the Delta Community Medical Center His name is Rhyan His two year old brother Brad is glad to have a playmate James works at the Jackson dairy Eighteen girls from Sutherland and 1st Ward are spending this week at Camp Crafters Camp at Three Creeks Reservoir in Beaver Mary Preston is camp director and Patsy Patreecia Thomas She came especially to be a bridesmaid for her friend Chris Fowler On her return trip to Seattle she just boarded the plane and everyone had to get off the plane while it was searched for a bomb They finally took off four hours later when no bomb was found Frances and Horace Harmon were in Salt lake June 23 for the wedding of their son Lawrence in the Salt Lake Temple and a reception that evening in the Hotel Utah Forty members of the Tabernacle Choir came through the line including the conductor as the bride has been a member of the Tabernacle Choir for 15 years Frances and Horace went back with their son Gene to Oakdale CA to spend a few days LaVaar and Marilyn Coats met their Cindy and daughter and husband James and four children in Yellowstone They brought Cindy and children back to Holden with them for a longer visit Diane and Jason Monroe flew up from Mesa to visit her sister Cindy Ann Bailey and son Benjamin flew to Michigan to visit her parents Mark will be leaving for and children Michigan on July 5 Visiting Marilyn and Lee Broadbent last weekend were Marilyn’s sister and husband Linda and Keith Murray and son Glen and his friend Brad Grammer all of Pam Freeman went to Logan June 21 to get her son Saturday Robert He had spent a week at a music clinic at USU He played in an ensemble and also a concert on Saturday Pam reports these young afternoon people performed very well She was proud of Robert for his dedication to long hours of practicing for this event Mrs Don Tomkinson went to Salt Lake City June 22 to see their son Andy and his wife Sherril Don came home the next day leaving Ilena to help while Sherril was in the hospital with a new baby born that day June 23 Little Nathan weighed 6 lbs He has twin sisters Trisha and Cherry and brother Bagriel who are anxious to help out with little brother Mrs Dexter Anderson and children arrived home last weekend from a vacation to Springfield OR where they were guests of her (LauraLee’s) parents Mrs Elmer Chase and their families who live in Oregon Alicia Bundy has finished her schooling for this spring at Snow College She is employed for the summer at Dugway and enjoys weekend visits here with her father Dean Bundy and her sister Dena and their grandmother Noma Jackson and other relatives Beth Allen and her sister Faith Davis arrived at the Allen home the evening of June 23 from their parents home in Lovell WY The ladies had been with their mother Daphne Despain for a couple of weeks following the death of their father Earl Despain The next day Beth and her husband Arthur Allen took Faith to Las Vegas where she boarded a plane to her home in Mesa AZ where she was met at the airport by her husband Douglas Davis and their daughter and son On June 23 Mrs Jack Higley and children arrived from their home in Sandy Lisa and the children remained here with her parents Delial and Virgie Ivie while her husband Jack went on to Grand Junction CO on business Surely do appreciate the help both side the home and outside Aaron old enough now to mow the law also helped weed along with the other Benchildren helping too Jessica Nathan were right in there jamin weeding too Of course two year old Jacqulyn helps too with just being a pleasant smiling baby Jack came June 27 and the next day the Higlcys returned to their home The Ivie’s are happy with the news Christine that their granddaughter with has just graduated Morrison honors from Pierce College with an I AA degree (That A A jokingly She add isn’t alcoholisfn anoymous) is the daughter of Dr Wayne and Deon Bennett family reunion was held at the Nephi June 28 1986 City Park Saturday About 50 members were in attendance Games were played and visiting was enand a delicious joyed by everyone lunch was June 27 Members of her family came with ice cream and birthday cake in the evening and they all enjoyed a nice visit together Mrs Verdella Adams of St George a former Delta resident called to say she has had a mission call to San Bernardino CA for the coming year and maybe longer Her mission farewell will be in her ward in St George on Aug 10 and she enters the mission home on Aug 13 in Provo s rattlesnake can strike about the length of its body from Draper The events were a dinner followed by a meeting where a member of each family reported the events of the year and prizes were given Sports followed the meeting then there was a dance in the old hall with the moonlighters doing the music That was the end of a perfect day Family members here were Mrs Clisbee Lovell Mrs Reed (Zclla)
