Show KANOSH Dathel Whitaker Ph Axel and Eileen Engstrom have just returned from an enjoyable trip to San Diego California where they attended the special 80th birthday celebration of Axel’s former boss Mr SF Nielsen and also the Nielsen Company’s 40th year anniversary party Axel was one of their first employees and he worked 28 wonderful years for this wonderful man Axel retired from the company in 1973 This company is now the largest and number one construction company in San Diego They are known for their fine work honesty and dependability There were a total of 10 employees when Axel started with them and today they have 450 employees with 55 of them in the office alone This company is known for its closeness with its employees as Mr and Mrs Nielsen treat them like one big happy family Axel and Eileen then drove to Temple City Calif to visit Eileen’s mother Lola M Archer Axel and Eileen Engstrom were happy to spend Father’s Day with their son and Mike and Elena Engstrom and their darling new baby grandson Alex of Fillmore and with their son and Karl and Tamara and boys Steven and Engstrom An Casey Ray from St George enjoyable time was had by all Axel also had a very happy birthday on May 29 when Mike and him with a new Elena presented Alex who was born that grandson day which makes him and Eileen three wonderful grandsons Claudine (Hendrickson) Sutherland Amanda and her little daughter Florida were from Fort Lauderdale at the Mac and Roena guests Shields’ home on June 15 and 16 Little Amanda brought a lot of joy and Grandpa into her Grandma Shields’ home We welcome Jack Lee and Anne Eve McCloskey and their children and Jacob into Oliver Elizabeth the Kanosh Ward They occupy the former Max Whitaker home recently vacated by Mr and Mrs Robert moved to who have Masner Fillmore had the Christensen Beverly privilege of helping to welcome a Lance Cassady new little grandson Cluff into the home of her daughter Shawn and Shelley in California Cluff Hollywood 1985 Little Lance was born June 15 oz and was 21 Vi weighing bibs inches long Beverly flew from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles Calif where she was met at the airport by Shawn and where she driven to Peterson she got acquainted with nieces and who joined the group for nephews then movies barbecues taking watching themselves on video All of this along with attending a ward party was very enjoyable to Beverly making her trip to California a special one returning home June 22 Around 43 family members attended the Rey Greener Family Reunion onJune 15 which was held at the Kanosh Ward Cultural Hall some from the Sacramento traveling Idaho and New Mexico areas The activities of the day consisted of partaking of a delicious chicken and visitdinner doing genealogy ing which was enjoyed by all A Southern Utah State College as a Girls State Delegate While there the girls learned of the working of our government by filing to run for office campaigning and carrying out their appointed offices Danene was selected as her town’s banker and as a voting delegate Out of the 350 girls who attended she also was one of 20 who was honored to receive a $350 scholarship to SUSC Danene has also been chosen to Millard High as their represent Social Studies Sterling Scholar for This experience will help her complete projects toward her goal Danene is the daughter of Lynn and Terry Perkins of Kanosh Terry Perkins in company with her seven children left Thursday June 20 to drive to southern Michigan to attend a family reunion Terry's brother Tom Guest came up from Mesa Arizona to drive along with the Perkins family Terry has two other brothers Tim and Ty Guest who will welcome them in Michigan Lynn Perkins boarded a plane on Friday June 28 to join his family and will drive back home with them taking insome of the Mormon history areas on their way Sacrament held in the Meeting Knaosh Ward on Sunday June 23 was conducted by Bishop Vernon Christensen The memberships of Kevin and Melanni Lang Sally Kanosh DUP attending the County Convention in Fillmore on Saturday June 22 were Lula George Nora Price Sylvia The Penney and Dathel Whitaker convention was very well attended and very enjoyable An especially enjoyable patriotic was prsented by the program Kanosh Ward Choir on Sunday June 30 in connection with Sacrament of under the direction Meeting Choir President Roena Shields Vice Choir President Leavitt Christensen Director Elayne Halsey and Accompanist DeAnn Perkins entitled "Patriotism” Programs with the American flag and Uncle were Sam printed on the cover for the available congregation Inside was also printed the names of young men from Kanosh who had served in both World Wars Twenty with men had served in World War Vernon Whatcott and Jean Stowe In sacrifice giving the Stake To prepare for camp these girls worked very hard to learn survival before skills and pass requirements Colette Brunson going to camp passed all four levels of camping this summer Greater love
