affairs and youth leadership gave a special program at the Fine Arts Club of Delta Thursday March 3 in the club room of the M E Bird Recreation Center Her audience of 30 club members and guests of the Fine Arts Club were treated to special reports given by three Hugh O'Brian scholarship recipients and special musical numbers by a Delta High singing group Shenlyn Johnson daughter of Mr and Mrs Max Johnson plans to attend Utah State University next fall to pursue studies in computer technology Her brother Brent a former Hugh O'Brian scholarship recipient was assistant to the President of the Japanese Mission for a year and plans to graduate from college m the field of mechanical engineering Sherilyn is class president of a leadership organization went to Girls’ State and placed fourth in the state in the 100 meter breaststroke swimming competition Mitch Atkinson 1988 HOBY winner and Curtis Turner 1989 HOBY winner gave short talks which are reported elsewhere in this issue Mrs Turner gave a brief history of the Hugh O’Brian learning philosophy where the young people meet with business leaders in their own state at a seminar to learn about special and economics in the management market today Mrs T urner gave a short synopsis of achievements of Joel Sannes first HOBY recipient at Delta High Joel’s parents are living in Alaska Joel is attending Arizona State University and has applied to Harvard Law School She noted that Murray Clay also given the HOBY award his sophomore year was Delta High valedictorian achieved a score of 98 on the ACT compilation with a perfect score in He was appointed math to the Chemistry Society of America and was chosen to be present at President George Bush’s inaugural ceremonies He made application to the Air Force Academy and received formal
