Show SANDS APRTMENTS helps Elda Munoz and Enrique Salazar check spelling Scholar volunteer DHS Girls Team Basketball Region 10 Champs Lady Rabbits to State this weekend The Lady Rabbits captured the Region 10 title this past week with a record of 10 wins and no losses There was no tournament this year for Region 10 due to “Budget Cuts” (they say) Without this tournament the Rabbits will be going to State with 2 or 3 games less than the other region Word is that Region 9 was won by Morgan with Delta’s former coach Liz Wiscombe at the helm They defeated the Wasatch Wasps Hopefully the Rabbits will get a chance to play them at State Coach Acor was able to line up a practice game with Emery last Thursday The Rabbits dominated the entire The girls game with the score of were really working together but were having trouble on their rebounding Shelley Fowles with assists from the other team members managed to put in 23 points Jannette Larson had a total of 17 Janice Francom 4 Laurel Simmons 3 Deb Fowles Neysa Plummer and Sherry Wardle each put in a basket which rounded out the scoring for the Rabbits The team finished up the year with a record of 16 wins and only 3 losses Those coming at the hands of Wasatch Hurricane and South Sevier All three Swimming pool news Joan Dutson of Delta has done it again On Feb 10 she completed another 50 miles of accumulative swimming at the West Millard Pool This 50 miles brings her total to 150 miles Joan is one of those early morning swimmers who lives to start off her day with an invigorating swim Joan says she can face the day much easier after a swim because swimming makes her feel so much better Congratulations Joan on your 150 miles the pool management knows you will have 200 miles before long Some special events are coming up at the pool On Saturday March 26 between 12 noon and 5 pm the pool will be celebrating its ninth birthday There will be free swimming and free refreshments for everyone that day The Friday before Easter April the pool will be holding its annual Easter Dive for Money and Prizes Day at 2 pm This is always a fun day for all the youth Session six of the winter swimming lesson program will begin Monday March 7 Also on Monday March 7 a Boy scout Swimming Merit Badge course will begin Monday March 14 an American Red Cross Advanced Lifesaving Course will start at the pool For more information and to register for these swimming courses call the pool at Delta men’s basketball standings off teams are in the same bracket at State as Delta so we will be able to get our revenge The team travels to Heber City this week for the State Tournament at Wasatch High School Delta has a bye Wednesday then will play Thursday at 7:45 Depending on the outcome of the Wed games we will either play South Sevier or San Juan Then on Friday the games will be at 4: 5 or 6:00 depending on Thurs games Saturday’s games will be 12:30 or the championship game at 4:00 The Delta Rabbits aie the defending champions from last year and would like to make it two in a row We need the support of the students the staff and the community to cheer us on to victory These girls and their coaches have worked as hard as any other group at the school and they deserve the same support that the Wrestlers were given last weekend They would like to win this one for themselves as a team and for Delta High school and only hope that DHS is there to see them do it They know they have a “tough road ahead” but they know they can do it with your support Good Luck at State Lady Rabbits! the project of teaching foreign speaking adults to read write and spell English The students come from Meadow Kanosh and Fillmore Since they have a wide variance in culture and educational backgrounds tutors are very helpful to them Four students from the Millard High School are working with a Spanishstudent in the Fillmore speaking Elementary four days a week: Loren Jodi Ashman and Andrea Stephenson with the reading and English and Tami Rasmussen with math They rotate class periods so there is a one on one relationship with the student The Taylor family moved here just 18 society meeting for all our ladies to take care of the visiting teacher lessons etc We enjoy these nights together Margaret Callister has gone to Calif for a wedding of one of the grandsons Lathel is staying at the care center for a few days while she is gone Juanita Teeples from Holden prepared a delicious lunch and brought it to her mother Lola Young’s home here at the Sands She served the lunch to Lola
