Show Millard County 1 Delta Middle School Thurs Mar LISPS 5 1987 - Page 7 f t Musical lights up stage on March 25 South Pacific the musical scheduled for production by Delta High students is sailing toward an opening night of March 25 Performances will be at 8:00 through March 28 With only 11 more practices until show time the crew is busy polishing a performance that will continue the drama department’s other productions including Grease and Guys and Dolls Mr Lamb and Mr Wankier joint directors of the musical double cast the leads with David Bird and Jim Larsen playing opposite Kodi Roholt and Gloria Roper Although South Pacific is not a new production for Delta High’s stage Mr Lamb says this version will be different since the TriDels will choreograph the dancing MHS NEWS by Maren Bailey MHS Decathlon Selgaes place 3rd in places 12th at State region competition The Millard Decathlon Team spent the weekend in St George taking tests at State Competition The team was competing against A 2A 3A and 4A schools and although they only placed 12th they came out on top of all the schools in our region Special congratulations go to Shauna Huffaker who took medals in Fine Arts Economics and Math The Decathlon Team has worked very hard over the past few months and Middle School Spelling Bee winners RHONDA HARRISON SPELLING BEE CHAIRMAN congratulated the following winners: Jeanette Morrill fifth grade Lance Greener eighth grade John Greathouse sixth grade and Natalia Mankin seventh grade LORI CARLING’S PICTURE of Bob Jensen’s marriage to his wife Debbie is one of the many illustrations featured in “The Life of Bob a biography produced by Mrs Hunter’s third grade under the direction of Brenda Robinson student teacher Jensen” Third Graders publish book about Bob Jensen The Millard Selgaes hosted the Regional Competition this past weekend The Selgaes placed 3rd in dance and prop and 1st in novelty We gave them a 3rd place standing overall Selgaes on all your Congratulations hard work! Students in Mrs Hunter’s third grade recently finished work on their biography of Bob Jensen a project they began early in February Working under the direction of Mrs Brenda a student teacher from Robinson the University Young Brigham students published enough books for we want them to know how proud of them we are for their efforts Thanks goes to advisor Mrs Shirley Robins also g9SS8SSSSSSS8SSSSSSSSWSm! tells of the BYU quarterback’s childhood and school periences The authors then talk of his football days at Millard High School his missionary work his marriage and his feelings as a football player at BYU The students also write of Bob’s goals for the future and talk about his visit to their class “He signed autographs and threw a football to the students” the authors write “He said he could throw a football 75 yards or more All we know is that it was way over our heads!” The students obtained most of their information for the book during an terview with Mr Jensen Bob visited the Fillmore Lovell) visited Delta North Second graders to talk about patriotism and the American red white and blue The fifteen minute assembly was enjoyed by all 95 second graders at our school Delta North salutes the Farm Bureau for sponsoring such a worthwhile program Yankee and Doodle helped to still in our hearts an added dimension of patriotism for the great land we live in We hope they will return Finlinson’s Mrs Kapler’s and Mrs Suggs’ classes competed in our annual Spelling Bee that day There were thirty students in all who participated We were very proud of each of the participants They are all to be commended for their academic efforts Mrs Barbara Nielson Dr Eleanor Dalton and Mr Scott Bassett served as this year’s contest judges Ms Rhonda Harrison was the pronouncer for the event Third and fourth graders along with participant’s family members were the honored guests After about 40 minutes of spelling Cassy Thomas daughter of Bob and Paulette Thomas emerged as the 1987 winner Heather Comeau daughter of Roland and Caralyne Comeau took cond place We are especially proud of these two girls Cassy will now advance to the District Spelling Bee to be held March 18 1987 at the Wednesday School District Offices in Delta She will compete with students from Delta Garrison and Eskdale to Fillmore determine the district winner Other participants in this years bee Joshua Jennifer
