The latter agreed and Portraits Forever was formerly launched All this may sound easy and matter of fact but dedication and hard work were the keys to successs "You can’t be a success without woiking at it” states Pat She joined the Intermountain Professional Photographers Association in Salt Lake City From this organization she learned much and received a great deal of assistance Workshops were conducted which Pat attended she took a college course in and she read anything photography and everything she could find that would add to her knowledge provide tips and improve her technique Along with portraits Pat did geneology copy and photocopy work All this was done in her home in the after she returned from the cvfcrtlttgS sewing plant She began with an Icon 35 mm camera and gradually added materials and equipment as she could afford to do so A big bedroom was transformed into the studio Pat took the pictures and then did her own developing While working full time tending her children and running her own business the energetic woman also taught piano lessons! Among other things she had been doing Pat had visited a number of travel agencies in Salt Lake City For one she became what is known as an “outside agent” This meant that she did all the leg work for people planning their trips scheduling flights getting the best prices etc all on her own time and at her own expense She then fed the information to the agency which in turn sent the tickets It was a year of very hard work a year of receiving commissions but no salary Following this experience Pat was able to connect with Skyways Travel and in a sense was sponsored to become an agent Both she and Gil took formal training courses in Dallas sponsored by the American Airlines Saber System which is a computer system Following this training they became accredited travel agents Now Delta had its first travel Travel-athe Trujillos had a new business Shack The two io been in the present and location on Topaz Boulevard was Gil’s the former Although business Pat continued to oversee the operation and she has always been in charge of the travel agency Just recently the two sold Radio Shack to I osce'M Hardware and for the first time Pat is able to apply her boundless energies in just one direction! Accotding to Pat enjoyment of people is a must for a travel agent Working with and accomodating clients is of course the purpose of the business It is obvious that Pat likes people as she talks easily with all who enter the shop and she does everything possible to Pat and make the best and most reasonable travel arrangements for Deltans Working with her and exhibiting the same good spirits and helpfulness is Marilyn Clayton who is also a certified agent trained by Pat What is involved in a travel agency? The business is more complex than it appears to be It is very exact and mistakes are usually big and costly! Travel arrangements must be planned and coordinated and these are done with airlines AmTrak and cruises Pat and Marilyn also make hotel and motel reservations for their customers All of these services are provided at no additional charge Travel is part of the action for the Trujillos and for Marilyn Clayton This too becomes a learning perience and on the job training Hotels cruise ships new resorts and travel and are experienced comodations assessed Al! this is time consuming and demanding but it is also exciting and educational From their travels they are better able to inform tourists and to help the latter plan trips wisely With various shysters waiting to make easy money from gullible Gil Trujillo travelers it is important to have a travel agent in whom one can rely Occasionally advertisements appear in a low rates to newspaper offering With trust and specified destinations excitement people send money only to be cheated and fooled “Deal with a licensed agency" advises Pat Without Radio Shack life may be somewhat quieter for the Trujillos However they continue id involve themselves sponsoring community such as the Miss Millaid Contest the high school yearbook Tri Dels and as members of the Chamber of Commerce (Gil was a charier president ol the Chamber) Then there is travel the ranch and seven grown children with families that occupy time With the Trujillos one thing always appears to be replaced by another Their wheels are ever turning manifesting new plans from numerous ideas Pat is looking forward to more involvement in Skyways planning tups and other packages that will appeal to and benefit customers Gil will have his input Together this enterprising couple will continue to do their best lor all iends and customcts of then Why Receive Less? thru Dec 25th Our rooms are available by reservation for $2900 per night (one or 2 people) Do some Christmas shopping then slip away to experience the thrill of downhill skiing (Or if you prefer ski first then shop or send the kids skiing while you shop or to heck with it all and just go skiing) EAST (Bring this ad) Special Introductory Ski a lesson and (Equipment Rodeway Missionary Addresses II SHOP ’n SKI illmore City Gaibage lectors will pick up your ashes il they are cold Any ashes that are hot or warm cannot be picked up Coal ashes cool rapidly and may be placed in a bucket that can be emptied into garbage trucks Wood ashes contain pieces of unburned wood or charcoal and will stay hot for several days They must be pm boxes in plastic bags or cardboard so they can be placed on the truck Wood without being dumped ashes in buckets will not be picked up The Ihurv Skyway’s Owners jEnterprising by Dawn Carder Talking with Pat Trujillo at Skyways Travel is always a rewarding experience for she is an interesting person as well as an enterprising business woman One might be reminded of television's Barbara Walters for the two women appear to share traits in common Both both are willing are very determined to work for what they want and both exude a self confidence that is conwell as as tagious inspiring How does one become an en“That's an interesting trepreneur?
