November 24 at Millard High School to select 6 finalists to compete against Delta on Nov 25 The finalists who were chosen are Julie Kelli Hansen Christina Limburg Huffaker Shawna David Tracey Remkes FES students during the day In all the PTA sponsored program has given away over 5000 books during the past three years Mrs Students receive free books November 26 Wednesday students at t illmore Elementary eelebrated their first RIT Day of the school year Their enthusiasm as they chose a book from the hundreds ol titles available reflected the l un spirit of the Tillmore Elementary student body RIE stands for Reading Is Funa federal damental program which provides large discounts from children’s book publishers On three im different RIF Days each year students are given the opportunity to choose a free book from a variety of popular children’s titles The program is funded mostly through the Fillmore Elementary PTA The Fillmore Elementary PTA has sponsored the RIF project for the past three years During that time over 5000 books have been given away to Fillmore Elementary students The next RIF Day is scheduled for Jan 13 1987 Monday December 1st four lucky names were drawn out of the West Millatd Community Swimming Pool box contest lot the month ol November people who came to swim at the pool place thcii names in the box Mary Casey of Shetwood Shores did The first two the team will be traveling to Delta to compete against the Delta High Swim Team in a duel swim meet at the West Millard Community Swimming Pool The Delta High Swim Team members are continually improving their times and will be ready for Pleasant Grove This meet should be a very exciting event The Delta High Team is inviting everyone to attend this duel meet which the is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am team wants to show the townspeople how well it swims and competes against larger schools Admission will be free Swimming December is a busy month for everyone We all are racing around getting ready Tuesday December 30 at 2:00 pm Balloon found in Montana after held 775 mile journey scrimmage Blue-Whi- A balloon launched by Tiffanie Rowland of Miss Weight’s first grade on September 19 was recently discovered 775 miles away A hunter found the balloon near Great Falls MT and gave the balloon to a Mr and Mrs Tooke They wrote a letter to Tiffanie informing her of the discovery The balloon had been launched along with over 500 others as a part of the Fillmore Elementary PTA membership drive Launched on a windy day many of the balloons have been discovered many miled from their point of departure Reports from balloon finders have come from areas in Utah several spots in Wyoming and two spots in Montana So far however the 775 mile trip made by Tiffanie’s balloon has been the longest The discovery was given in the local coverage prominent newspaper at Great Falls Montana They also reported on the enthusiastic reply which the Tookes received in a Tiffanie after she letter from learned that her balloon had been found Tiffanie Rowland is the daughter of Dwain and Elsie Rowland of Fillmore If Since the West Millard Pool will be holding a duel - Pleasant Grove High School swim meet on Saturday morning December 6 there will be no morning lap swimming scheduled for that day The pool will open for swimming at the regular time of 12 noon The Delta Middle School has started swimming lessons these lessons are held every afternoon but Monday The pool will no longer be able to have lap swimming from 12 noon to 3:00 pm on Tuesday through Friday but on Mondays the pool will still be
