Show Page I Millard County I 1hur hPS - - (ffommenta li is hard 10 settle down and write a column after all the traveling we have been doing lately It is feast or famine for a long time we go nowhere and then all the traveling opportunities come at once have many things to write about actually too many Our first trip was to Puerto Vallar-tMexico hate snow and cold weather so bad that when a deal came up after all those winter months that was too good to pass up we didn’t lew is and Shelley and Dennis and Dawn Carder grabbed our birth certificates and bikinis and were off for 5 glotious days and nights in the sun How does one describe and surf heaven? 1 he only bad things were the wonderful prices which really spoiled Mar 13 2$ ji 1986 Community Calendar it e us when we had to come back to reality and coming home We talked to a waiter about wages and cost of living His English was limited and our Spanish was t but we learned a lot He said his wages were about $80 a month and that often included 16 hour days We ask him about the power for Puerto Vallarta and he said it was hydro We ask how much he paid for power He said they bill every 2 months and the government pays half so his bill is $3 for two months Lewis then figured his most recent bill in pesos and he told us that was what the hotel we stayed at paid for two months Continued on back page Postmarks by Postmaster Tom Hamilton 3 How to handle suspected mail fraud When you order an item from a mail order company they will tell you to allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery Often they will even send you a card telling you that your order was received When the time goes much beyond this you begin to worry One thing to remember is that most of the companies that we in the mail order business have a good reputation There are a few that are out to make a last buck and provide you nothing that does happen no Unfortunately matter what the business You will need to write a letter to the company with which you placed the order It’s best to send it certified with a return receipt so that you have proof of when the letter was received and who signed for the letter Here are some tips on what to do "Standard & Poor's Register of Corporations Directors and Executives is a good reference source w Inch lists over 37(XX) American business firms The book can be found in most libraries When you find the address write its national president "Include your hame address and home and work phone numbers in your letter "Type your letter if possible If it is handwritten make sure it neat and legible "Make it brief and to the point clude all pertinent facts (ie date of transaction item involved check numbers etc) and what you believe would be a fair and just settlement of the problem State that you would like an answer by a specified date Give a reasonable amount of time for them to return you letter Attach documentation to support your case but send eopies not originals "Remember the person reading your letter is not personally responsible for your problem but may be responsible for resolving it Therefore avoid or writing a sarcastic threatening angry letter it may lessen your chances of getting the complaint resolved a letter the for of "Keep copy your records "If you have not received a response to your letter by the time that you have contact me or your local specified Postmaster so that the Postal Inspection Service can be notified TO THE 1 Mar Older Workers Week Mar 13 Farm Bureau Banquet Delta 2nd Ward 200 N 2 W at 7 pm 7 Cub Scout Den Chief Training Delta 8th ward 4th 3rd bldg pm Mar Terry Scottorn plant display Fillmore City Library Saturday pm weekdays Mar 14 Deadline for Sheep and Swine tags for Millard County Jr Livestock Show Millard District Scout Recognition Banquet 6 pm Fillmore Utah Stake ' Center Senior Citizens’ St Patrick’s party and dance M E Bird Center Pot luck 6 pm program after Orchestra "The Misfits" special entertainment by the Cloggers Mar 15 Rod Clark “Barbecue" sponsored by Delta Area Chamber of Commerce Colette Hunt and Dr lcRoy C 7 to 9 Taylor Open House pm Sharon and Roger Olpin’s home 830 East Highlands Sandrock Ridge Road Fillmore West Central Writer’s Workshop Vocational Center 10 a m -
