How could you do this to us after all we have been with you and you have cared for us all our lives?” Cattle do not turn and look back They just go up the chute jostling each other with never a backward look with their big black eyes Now the young man has no ewes no little lambs He said “I just couldn’t go through that every year” Meetings: Mon & Wed 8 pm at Delta City Bldg 2 Chamber of Commerce office 76 N 200 W Delta 5 Tuesdays: 8 pm at IPP I Housing Community Center ALAN0N: For info call S TEENAGE Call PROBLEMS? Geno: lack by popular demand THE FOUR R’S The “graying of America” and the “senior boom” are becoming the catch phrases for a changing US population The combination of the baby boom generation growing up life pectancies lengthening and a general trent towards smaller families adds up to an older population This has hundreds of implications for the future of our society One of the most prominent concerns in the minds of consumers is “what will it do to health care costs?” Both consumers and health surance providers will have to reevaluate their approach towards health care to Helen according Leonard consumer spokesperson for the American Council of Life surance and the health Insurance Association of America She spoke at this year’s Adult Leaders School on the Utah State University campus Oct She said consumers have contradictory attitudes about health complain about the high cost of health care but when it comes down to our health we think money personal whould be no object” Another problem has been that health insurance providers have taken a long time to come around to accepting the notion of paying for preventive medicine Leonard said Some of the old health insurance stipulations encouraged overspending because providers wouldn’t pay for care unless it took place in the hospital This forced people to go to the emergency room for even minor problems she said The insurance industry spokesperson said health insurance providers are now doing all they can to reduce hospitalization time Outpatient surgery is encouraged and second and third opinions are being paid for by insurance companies She said the biggest area of change in the near future will be an increase in “wellness programs” Worksite wellness programs will strive to reduce health risk factors such as high blood pressure being overweight smoking and lack of exercise “It is a simple matter of statistics that as people live longer their need for health care increases Many health problems can be headed off though if the health insurance start providers teaching people now how to be healthier when they get older” Leonard said DHS teachers deserve credit After looking over the Millard County School District report published in feel a a recent issue of your paper need to address the parents of school age children particularly those with children in high school recently went back to high school must first after dropping out in 1979 commend you parents on your children They are very polite friendI’m very ly and fun to be around disappointed that I was unable to afford to go to school for truly enjoyed their company What concerns me are some of the don’t remarks heard teachers make think some of our teachers feel it’s worth it What I mean by this statement is considering the college quired the time spent after working hours (their own time) correcting papers preparing lessons and tests etc the extra duties involving the school besides teaching (that they are not payed for) the fact that so much of class time is spent babysitting the they receive from some parents and etc many of high school teachers feel they are not paid enough to make their job worth keeping have first hand knowledge that there are some excellent teachers in our high school In general they are very concerned about fair to and friendly toward their students They seem to be trying to do their best to teach the students what they need to know As I have a five year old who started school this year and who may someday don’t want to see attend Delta High resume meetings Thursday nights at 7:30 pm in the Chamber of Commerce office will on any more of our teachers change professions just because they can’t afford not to as a parent want the very best education possible for my child We as citizens of this great nation are very privileged we have the right to an equal would think we as education by law parents would want to do everything we could to raise the standard of education and halt it’s decline can think of many ways we as concerned parents might accomplish this goal For instance we might teach our children how to show respect towards their teachers we might try to look at both sides of a conflict before getting upset towards a particular teacher we might make sure our children undera basic stand how very important education is we might take a little more responsibility for our children and get lives with whether their involved more they want us to or not we also might make sure our children are in school when they should be and if they truly do not fit in at all we could get some help (perhaps counseling) for them I’m sure you all add many more suggestions of your own to my list ask each of you to take this matter seriously to look into this situation and if you could improve it please do so For it is very important your children are preparing for their careers ahead of them Not that many years from how these same students will be running our country Please I know my folks say they love me but wish they would stay off my case Can’t they leave me alone and let me learn things on my own?
