Keith Gillins of the Gillins Insurance Agency was selected as a candidate for mayor during the Republican Mass Meeting held MonGillins day evening accepted the candidacy selection noting that he was overwhelmed at the number of people who showed up at the meeting which was held in the Courtroom at the County Courthouse The crowd of 147 people overflowed into the fover for mayor No other candidates and Gillins was were nominated put in by acclamation were candidates Also selected for two Fillmore City Council posiwere Jack Mctions Nominated and Fred Reed Robison Bride Taylor Those attending the meeting were instructed to vote for two candidates and McBride and Robison received McBride were selected 97 votes Robison received 137 votes and Taylor received 60 votes Gillins noted the present controversy in Fillmore about the type of He said if he were city government elected he would want to evaluate the city administrator type of government and have the City Council He also vote on it after evaluation said he was for industrial growth but he was not for "just anything” that the coming in to Fillmore benefits of an industry would need to be weighed against its risks He said he is willing to listen to the public and will dedicate whatever time is needed to the office of mayor He added that although he is presently a School Board member he would resign his position on daughter Bartholomew Lafe Parrish Joyce and Fork joined a tour of American group going to the eastern states New York Boston They toured Plymouth Rock and New Jersey sights many outstanding seeing including a tour of the World Internation Trade Building They were have a magnificent panorama able to view of the city from the top of the building which is 107 stories high Their ride on the
