Show Milliard UDOT hopes to complete “death strip” The Utah Department of Transportation has received word from the Federal Administration Highway that Utah has received S25 million for new freeway construction in the state UDOT has announced that most of the money will be used to finish construction of Interstate 15 between Nephi and Mills Junction in Juab County About $214 million will be spent building the remaining structures and for surfacing This is the final link left in Temporary between The Nephi and Scipio strip of old Hwy 91 was labeled the “death strip” after a number of fatal accidents occurred there particularly one involving a van and a semi in which eight people lost their lives UDOT officials are hopeful the work on the remaining 178 mile piece will be completed 1986 The money considered a bonus for UDOT comes from what are know as "discretionary funds” Utah and each of the other states receives from the an annual apportionment for Federal Highway Administration construction interstate highway Those states that use all of their can apply for addiapportionment tional money from discretionary funds The extra money is made up of funds set aside for that purpose and from apportionments that other states have not been able to spend during the year The unspent money reverts to the FHWA and is then given to the states which already have used their apportionments UDOT officials applied for $42 million in discretionary funds but were pleased with $25 million Delta’s Channel 12 needs programming Anyone with something on video of community programming according to Mrs Morrison “We are interesting in anything of historical cultural athletic or religious content which might be of interest to the community” she said The station has already have been submitted to the Farmers Home Administration’s office in Richfield Utah for approval to finance the construction of the proposed new Senior Housing Center Mr Clyde Hemmert and Mr Brooks Poulson of that office have advised that the application is being reviewed by architects and planners of that office for feasability A questionnaire was given to all applicants who indicated an interest in this type housing as potential occupants of the housing center Follow-uquestionnaires are being sent out to these same people by the Farmers Home Administration There is no binding
