Nov 14 from noon to eight in the evening at Delta High’s cafeteria School will be closed for the day for any classwork but report cards will be handed out so parents will be able to refer to them in the conferences Principal Simmons said “Teachers will be in the cafeteria to meet the parents and talk with them about their student’s progress” will not have to be Appointments made Mr Ron Petersen said “The parents and students too if they’d like to come will be able to come any time throughout the day” Mr Petersen hopes students will come to the conferences wfth their parents since a student’s educational responsibility is shared with parents teachers and the student himself is Sannes competes for Senate Youth Program better next year” The Youth Senate Program was established in 1962 with a unanimous vote for the Senate Resolution 324 and was later amended to provide for the participation of the Dept of Defense Schools which are overseas The resolution specified that the program should be “supported by private funds with no expense to the Federal Government” The William Randolph Hearst Foundation arranged for the provisions of the funds For the past years that foundation has paid for all expenses hotels meals including transportation insurance and a $2000 scholarship for the Washington DC winners The program has been placed on the Advisory List of National Contests and Activities for by the National Association of Secondary School Principals Delta High sent a representative to the State Capitol to participate in the United States Senate Youth Program Joel Sannes was selected because he scored higher than any other Delta student on a political science test One person either a senior or a junior from every school in the state had the to participate opportunity had three student teachers this year Student teaching has for Miss been a great experience Fowles the students she has taught and her cooperating teachers Miss Fowles has worked in the Kindergarten with Mrs Flora Wood and more recently in the First Grade with Mrs Virginia Pelaez Both teachers hated to see Miss Fowles complete her work with them Miss Fowles will finish her student teaching "experience with Mrs Deb Pace at the Delta South Elementary Miss Fowles has done an exceptional job during her stay at Delta North Her teaching skills are highly developed and she has won her way into the hearts of both the children and staff at our school Miss Fowles was born in Delta Utah and has four brothers and one sister She grew up in Sutherland and Delta and graduated from both Delta Elementary and Delta High School She attended Utah Technical College in Provo Utah and will graduate from Southern Utah State College in Cedar City as soon as her student teaching is complete news Coupon project The entire Fowles family is devoted to educational pursuits Miss Fowles’ father is the director of the West Central Utah Vocational School her mom teaches first grade at Delta North Elementary and her brother is a coach at Delta High School! Miss Fowles has enjoyed her stay at Delta North Her only complaint is that the stay was tooo short!!
