visiting Thurs Sept 6 1984 with Bob and Inez Moody’s grandparents Mrs Jackie McCoy and little son Timmy from Topeka Kansas are here visiting with Aunt Mrs Fern Foote They made a tour to California also to visit with relatives there All of the Burt and Nina Johnson family members were here for the Open House of Ben Johnson and his new bride Bishop Kenneth and Della May Spanish Fork Gordon and Pat Johnson Provo Evelyn and Carl Larsen and 3 daughters of Price Elouise and Joe Sutherland Sometimes differences between the real thi ig and an imitation are obvious and unmistakable but sometimes the differences And are subtle and difficult to detect sometimes when we don’t know the difference we don’t care But as long as there is any difference when we pay for the "real thing” and get something else we have cause for complaint This is true whether we know it or not Perhaps this is the cue for someone to say “What difference does make if we don’t know the difference?” One answer is that someday we will know the difference Truth doesn’t change because of our norance or indifference and somewhere along the line we have to face facts dividuals and institutions have been wiped out financially because they forgot the difference between the real thing and something that didn’t have any substance to secure it It isn’t enough just to look like the “real thing” The substance must be there as well as the surface Sound sure safe standards Principles from which we do not depart there wouldn’t be anything that anyone could count on This Weeks News To visit with Max and Laurel Johnson was son Neal Blake from California Neal also attended Priesthood Meeting and other meeting with Max and Laurel Lyman and Kay Henrie from Bountiful visited with mother Mary Henrie and their brothers and sisters came especially to be here for the Confirmation of their nephew Damon Henrie He was Confirmed by his father John Henrie with Grandfather Bishop Hartley and Uncles assisting To receive her confirmation also was Nicole Jensen daughter of Phil and Jackie Jensen She was Confirmed by her father with Grandfather Bert Jensen assisting Bert and Norma Jensen were visitors in Sutherland Second Ward Sunday Mrs Hartly also was here with the John Henries LaVar Owens helped with the Confirmation There was a special Fireside held in the Delta West Stake on Sunday night Jack Christiansen was the featured visitor The Youth of the Stake was present A Book of Mormon was given by te Seventies and presented to Nicole and Damon On Saturday September 8 the Young Adults will ride on the Stake bus to Lagoon All Young adults are encouraged to attend Keith Johnson son of Elwin and Judy Johnson became a Priest and was sustained on Sunday Congratulations to Allen and Kathleen Edwards for their new little son who came to them last week Congratulations to Ryan Tippetts and Zachary White for winning their divisions in the Cub Scout Olympics They took third in the district All the Cubs and Leaders are winners Donna Walker Teri Turner and Deb Carter chaperoned the Camp All the girls enjoyed it very much Dan and Elma Frazier were here over the weekend to visit with folks Doyle and Lena Steele They are from American Fork Garth Jones spent the weekend with Rulon and Ruth Jones He is attending School in Provo Elder Richard Porter arrived home from his mission and will report his mission on Sunday next at the Sutherland Second Ward Debbie Rose and friends attended the Bridal Veil Falls dance on Saturday at Provo It was a special dance Zelda Ogden is a patient in the Hospital in Salt Lake We surely hope she will be able to be released soon We wish her lots of luck Welcome to the new family here Nadine and Corey Dye On September 5 will be the Mother Daughter Fashion Show Sounds charming A pretty warm beginning of school this past week for all the teachers and students They probably won’t be to concerned as the cooler days will soon take the place of the warm ones and then this winter sets in Congratulations to the 24 people in this area for having birthdays in the month of September There are to many to list Last week Louanna Keates and Susan Johnson both visited with parents Frank and Both grew up in Sutherland Virginia Lyman and attended school in Delta On September Marti Bishop invited her Laurels to a surprise “Come as you are” breakfast Everyone was happy to attend Having to many unfinished tasks before us is confusing There is a limit to what we can pursue effectively at any one time and one way to keep ineffective fretting is to finish to complete what should be done It is priceless to find a person who will take responsibility and who will finish and follow through to the final detail - to know when someone has accepted an assignment that will be effectively and conscientiously But when half finished completed assignments keep running on and on to take repeated attention obviously someone has failed to follow the doctorine of completed work Those who do complete their work will find a greater return and satisfaction of completed work HINCKLEY Sharon Western Ph: 864-333- 5 Taking advantage of the Labor Day weekend the Alton Theobald family gave their father an extra surprise an early birthday party A lovely luncheon was served The Birthday cake was super with a western motive The following were in attendance Earl and Thilda Remington and granddaughter Jessica of Salt Lake DeLoy and “Chickie” Theobald and son of Las Vegas Nev Tom and Karen Theobald and family of HinDon and Wyla Carlile of Woods ckley Cross Ut Lena Busey Salt Lake City Alan and Mary Irby and foster son of Las Nev Fenton and lone DeMille Vegas Ogden Ut Mr and Mrs Ed Theobald and daughter Pamela of Delta Edward and David Stewart Las Vegas Nev Everyone had a lovely visit and really lifted their dear father’s heart Deona Anthony Adams of Orem Utah visited Sunday He is on Sabatical leave of career this year He is doing at BYU The University of Utah research on the social conduct Mexico and Sweden of students And betting back to the basics of Education in all parts of the world Mrs Cordell Logan (Ruth Adams) and two sons visited in Delta over the weekend with Ruth’s parents Mr and Mrs Cameron Adams Mrs Grant Crane had their two daughters Mrs Dan Wood and three children of Smith Field and Mrs Tom Bladen and four children of Hyde Park visit with them over the weekend They all tended church in the 1st Ward Sunday Mrs Anna Billings just returned from a real nice trip with her son Mrs Bryce Billand two children She was ings of Bountiful gone from the 15 to 25 of August They traveled to San Diego California where Bryce had some business to see to they then visited the zoo Balboa Beach Thousand Oaks Coronado Navy Base Huennene where they had fun playing in the Beacher ocean It was a special trip for them Then on Wednesday Mrs Billings went to Smithfield to visit her daughter Lucille Western then they traveled to Jackson while there they visited the Jim Wyoming Wilcox Art Gallery then they picked up Patti Western who has been working in Jackson and brought her home so she could enroll m school at Utah State University for this school year On Thursday they visited in Logan with Blanche and Ruth Ann Mathews who had just returned home from a trip to Australia She visited Wanda and Thurman Barker in Salt Lake and on Saturday her son Terrah and Jay Billings brought her home after a very enjoyable time and visit with us his teaching with her family Mrs Billings returned home from trip with her family she was delighted to find that some good “Samaritan” had mowed all of you tall weeds in her back yard around the corral and stack yard area and it really was appreciated by her She said Thanks to those who were so kind to her Sherline and Niel Heyborne and three grandsons Dustin Kirby and Bradey from Evanston Wyo visited at the home of Sherline’s mother Ruth Steele and Niel’s family They came to attend the funeral of Lee McAllister Sunday Aug 26 Evla Stone had all her kids to her kids grand kids and home for a special family reunion Those who attended were Mrs Derral (Shirley) Wright and Lisa from the When her two week Minersville Mrs res SPECIALS Kevin (Shirlene) Willden and 3 kids from Beaver Mrs Ken (JoAnn) Blake and two boys from Payson Mrs Howard (Vickie) Allred and three kids from Delta Mrs Rex (Lana) Stone and three kids from Cedar City and Mrs Jay (Peggy) Stone and six kids Jay Peggy and kids were here for a few days visited both families before heading for Canada where Jay has employment for the next four year They left early Wednesday morning Aug 29 and have arrived there safely Saturday the 1st Howard Vickie and traveled to Minersville to visit her parents and sisters Derral Shirley and Lisa and Sherline Kevin and kids Kevin took Howard to where the big buck were Kasey said Howard shot at one Nephew deer missed but managed to hit a big rock with his arrow Please call me to have your news in the Chronicle Thanks over the Visiting with the Lathe!
