Holt spent the two-da- y holiday this week vis-iting with their daughter, Miss Peg gy Holt, at Bryce Canyon Lodge where she is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Riding and son Kenn-ar-and Mis Rhea Beard, from' Seatle, Wash., made the trip with them. While there they went on to visit Zion's park, and fished on Mammoth, with Miss Holt joining the Dart v. Mrs Rayda Brush and daughter, Dana of Oakland, Cal., are mak-in-E a' visit of two weeks in Delta, with members of the family of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Brush and Mr .and Mrs. Ray Owens. Mr and Mrs. C. O. Warnick left Saturday, driving to Billings, Mont, to take Mr.and Mrs. Verl Johnson home after a week's visit in Delta. Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobs, of Torrance, Cal., are Delta visitors, with their mothers, Mrs. Mollie Jacobs and Mrs. Delia Lisonbee. Mr Jacobs was looking after his prop-erty here. He and Mrs. Jacobs drove on to Ogden for a visit with his brother, Chet Jacobs, and fam-ily. Mrs. Ella Neibel visited in Delta from Wednesday to Sriday of last week, with her son, Otho Buck-ley, and family. She had been to Richmond to the wedding of her son, Dewey Buckley. Mrs. Neibel, and her husband, William Neibel, are now at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She made the trip from Canada and return by car, accom-panied by three Canadian friends on their first trip into this part of the United States. Mrs. Anita Rice, and her daugh-ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Brumfield and two daughters, of Santa Monica, are visiting in Delta with Mrs. Rice's family Glen and Stan Stewart, and Mabel King and Pearl Stapley. They went on to Salt Lake City over the weekend, to visit friends there. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Parker, from Casper, Wyoming, spent the July 4 celebration in Delta with his par-( ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert L. Parker. ;They returned home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Johnson, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter John-son, and sister, Miss Effie John-son, from Los Angeles, left Delta a week ago, on a trip into Canada. While there Peter Johnson will vis-it a sister he has not seen in 30 years. Miss Dolly Griffin and mother, from Hollywood, were visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Holt. They returned to Cal., June 30, accompanied by Miss Grif fin's fiance, Lee Holt, for a short vacation before he goes to Cedar, City, where he will be employed by the U. P. railroad company for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rymer, and children, from Torrey, visited over July 4th in Delta with Mrs. Rymer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Stapley, and Mr. Rymer's sis-ter, Mrs. Ellen Morrell and familv. Mr and Mrs. W. Ray Davis and daughter, Sandra Lee, arrived in Delta last week, for a visit of sever al weeks with Mrs. Davis' parents, Mr and Mrs. Norman Gardner. They have been living in New York where Mr. Davis attended RCA radio school. On the Fourth the family drove to Gunnison to visit Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ball. Mr. and Mrs. Marden Stapley made a short visit in Delta Tues-day returning to their home in Salt Lake City after a fishing trip. Mrs. Stapley, the former Joyce Kell-y, visited friends here. - Emir Largent, who has been in the veterans hospital in Salt Lake for the past 6 weeks, returned to Delta last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Bunker and Mr. and Mrs. Del Searle made a trip to Fish Lake last week. While there they saw Mr. "and Mrs. L. N. Nickle, also intent on fishing. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Pace, from Salt Lake and Mrs. Pace's mother Mrs. Amy Smoot, of Weiser, Ida., were in Delta over Saturday night. Mrs. Smott went on to Richfield Sunday, and Mr. and Mrs. Pace returned to Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Layton Bishop made a trip to St. George on Friday and Saturday. They met friends there, from San Bernadino and all visited the St. George temple. Kenneth Skidmore, from Martin- - ez, Cal., joined his wife and fam- - ily in Delta this past weekend. They will go on to Salt Lake City to visit family and friends before returning to Cal. Mrs. Erma Stephenson and three children, from Cedar City, visited in Delta over the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Avery Bishop and A. E. Stephenson and family. Mrs. Olive Brackett, of Los Ang-eles, was a Delta visitor during the week with hr parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hopkins. Cluli Hostess Hutcrtaisis Mrs. Dorothy Steele was hostess to the Country Club for their meet-ing last week. Dinner and bridge entertained members and guests. From the club were Verna Shep-herd, Fern Mortensen, Vie Morten-se- Lois Hinckley, La Preal Mort-ensen, June Reid, Lois Maxfield, Ann Hales, Dora Munster, Eleanor Roberts, Rayda Knight and Beulah Bassett. Guests were Nell Callister Neva Robinson, Rose Black and Alta Ashby. La Preal Mortensen held high score in the club, and Mrs. Robinson among the guests. Mrs. Callister held low score, and Mrs. Munster received the travell-ing prize. Young Couple Make Home Here Mr. and Mrs. Allen Thomas, whose marrigae was solemnized in Spanish Fork Jlne 22, are now mak ing their home in Delta. They are living in the home of Mrs. E. Black burn. Mr. Thomas came to Delta this spring, and is in charge of the meat department at the Delmart. Mrs. Thomas was the former Miss Grace Ann White, of Spanish Fork. Is Honored At Ilridal Shower Miss Maurine Callister, whose wedding to Edward Dalton Jr., will take place early in August, was honored at a bridal shower Wednesday night of last week.The party was given by her aunt, Mrs. Merlene Callister, and attended by members of the family and a few close friends. Guests included Mrs. Millie Callister, Mrs. Jean Paxton, Mrs. Mattie Ann Callister and Mrs. Leah Black, of Fillmore, Jean Allen Cherie Hannifin, Sherlene Steele, Kalae Knight, Carolyn Callister, Josie Peterson, Nell Callister, Lola Dalton and Patty Dalton. The guests made a bride's book for the guest of honor, and shower ed her with gifts for her trousseau. Refreshments were served. Itest Wishes Are Extended To Newly Wed Pair Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Petty were honored Monday night, June 27, at a wedding reception held in the Delta Seminary. They were married Friday June 24, in the Salt Lake temple, and a reception was held in their honor Friday night in Brigham City. The bride was formerly Miss De Lone Jensen daughter of Mrs Clara Jensen, of Brigham City. Mr. Petty is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Petty, of Dela. The new Mrs. Petty chose ivory satin for her wedding gown, made with lace insets in the yoke, ,and styled with a long train. A finger-tip veil was held by a pearl cap, and her wedding bouquet was of orchids and white carnations. In the wedding party were Miss Dawn Hilton of Delta and Mrs. Ina Poul-se-of Garfield, Mr. Petty's sis-ter, as bridesmaids. Small Darlene Petty was flower girl, and Dick Hunsaker stood as best man. A program was given, with Ken- - nard Riding as Master of Ceremon-ies. Taking part were Virgil Lpsee and his accordion, Cherie Hannifin Bonnie Black and Lila Mae Samp-son, trio, Eugene Holman, Piano solo, Dorothy Starly, vocal solo. Darlene Petty and Larry Schlappi danced, and Eugene and Iris Hol-man gave a whistling and vocal number, composed especially i for the occasion by Eugene. Mrs. Chlora Twitchell gave a reading. Mrs. Emma Hunsaker was in charge of the serving tables, as- - sisted by Mrs. Doneta Hardy, and Noreen Clothier, Dorothy Starley and Elizabeth Moody. Mrs. Jac- - queline Hunsaker was in charge of the gift table. Following the reception Mf. and Mrs. Petty returned to Salt Lake where they are making their home. Fishermen Take Trip in Uiutas A party of 13 men, armed with a formidable aray of fishing equip ment, spent the weekend of July 4 on a trip to the UBar ranch, for fishing in the high ULntas. They were M. Ward Moody and E. L. Moody, of Delta, and brothers Man ton Moody, Oakland, Cal., and Dr. Milo Moody, Spanish Fork, Grant Snow, Warren Henderson, Cutler Henrie, Orvil Jeffery, Eldro Jeffery, W. J. Starley, Ross Esplin, Spencer Wright and Archie O. Gardner. They left Delta Friday, returning Monday night. Mr. Snow was re-called Sunday, when word came of the death of his grandson, Court-ney Wayne Holt at Enterprise. Camping for the stay was in cabins at an elevation of 10,000 feet, and they packed in horse-back over a 22 mile trail. They re-port that, although eating meals from the mantle piece this week, they do have some fish to reward their labors. The general weekend rainstorms hit that area with part-icular strength, so the men went garbed in winter clothing. J. A. Skidmore, from Salt Lake, visited his children in Delta over the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Tolbert and family, and Melvin Mitchell and son, Delbert, spent July 1, 2, and 3 at Parowan, where they the Mitchell family reunion. This was the first reunion held in the family, and 175 members at-tended the supper Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Santord, and daughters, Kathryn and PhyllisAnn and Mr. and Mrs. Brown Sanford are spending this week travelling in Idaho and Wyoming. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. Bishop and other relatives were Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Hilton and Mr. and Mrs. Arden Allen and son Joe, of Oak-land, Cal. Dr. and Mrs. Hilton con-tinued their trip into Canada, and the others will visit in Ida., before returning to Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Barney, and two children, returned to their home at Martinez, Cal., last Thurs-day, after a visit in Delta with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. S. Barney. They drove through Yose-mit- e and Sequoia national parks on their trip home. |
