After an enjoyable lesson given by Na Ree Stanworth, the ladies were invited in-vited to the cultural hall. Tables were beautifully decorated and a lovely luncheon was served. A short program was given and enjoyed. Erma Styer gave a brief history of the Relief Society's organization and told of Oasis Ward organization. organiza-tion. There have been 13 presidents nine of them were present at the table. The other four having passed pass-ed away, two of them while in office. Mrs. Ethel M. Stanworth sang twe beautiful solos, accompanied accom-panied by Ila Stanworth. Leona Anderson gave an Easter story. Mrs. Betty Johnson of the Stake Board was our visitor. A very en joyable afternoon was enjoyed by a large, percent of our membership. member-ship. Four ladies over eighty years old were especially honored with corsages. Last Wednesday Ethel M. Stanworth Stan-worth arid LaVeda Bishop accompanied accom-panied Dorothy Gardner and La Priel Sperry of Delta 1st Ward and Myrle Bennett of Deseret on a trip to St.; GeOrge. They attended five sessions at the temple and returned home Thursday evening. A very enjoyable trip. Carlos Bishop of Cedar came up Tuesday and helped his father, Clark Bisihop repair some machinery. machin-ery. He returned home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Harris returned re-turned home Wednesday evening from a fifteen day stay in Las Vegas. They were visiting- their children. We are happy to have them home again. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dillenbeck visited with their aunt, Ewa Ca-hoon Ca-hoon last Tuesday. Mrs. Amy Brinkerhoff of Beaver is visiting her children, Fay and Morgan Howell and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Anderson and little son of Dugway visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson Ander-son over the weekend. Grandpa Sam and Grandma Eathel Skeem, Uncle Kelly and Aunty Evelyn Hawley went to Spanish Fork to attend church where little Linda Rae Webb was christened. She is the infant daughter daugh-ter of Gary and Evelyn Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Rowley and children, Scott, Sharon, Shane, and Stewart, . also attended the service in Spanish Fork. After the meeting the group all met at the Webb home and ahd a lovely Easter dinner din-ner and family get-together. Scott Rowley, Dean Bishop and Gary Stanworth, Tony and Doug Stanworth were all home from school over the weekend with their families. Miss Carolyn Stanworth visited her grandmother, Ethel M. Stan-wrrth Stan-wrrth over the weekend. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Stanworth of Magna. Friday Ethel and Carolyn drove to Cedar where arrangements were made for5 Caro lyn to attend college. They really had winter weather, snow and ice and wind in Cedar. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop were happy to see their good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hunter of Hol-den, Hol-den, Friday afternoon even if they did stay but a short time. It's always nice to visit with them. Vance ' and Kay Pewtress and little granddaughter, Brook and their sons, Lyle and Don of Idaho Falls, Idaho visited their mother, Mrs. Isabell Wadsworth Saturday and Sunday. They also visited Vance's sisters, Mae Cahoon and Beth Moody and their families. The boys, Lyle and Don are attending attend-ing school at the BYU. Ward and Linda Leech and family stopped Friday to visit their Ray and Gloria Martin and family spent the weekend visiting their parents, Dave and Rose Nichols. The girls, Judy, Debra, and Teeny attended Sunday School. We are always happy to see these girls they are always smiling and friendly. Randy Jenkins and his girl friend Karen of Sandy visited Randy's sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Nichols over the week end. We were happy to see them to church also. Randy is a student at the university in Logan. It isn't everybody who can hold a two-day celebration for their birthday, but Val Styler did. Sunday ' there were 25 of his children and grandchildren nd great-grandchil dren gathered to celebrate with him. Arlyn and Mary Styler, daugh ter, Karen and son, Brent and his wife, Dorene and little son, John. Arlyn and family live in Bountiful and Brent and family live in Provo while he is finishing up some school ing. He is in the service but has a furlough to get this quarter, in. Maybe it's a leave of absence. Then Robert and Ellen Anderson and children, Max and Jean of Ephriam and another daughter, Mary Ellen and her husband, Rue Nielson and their three children, Sherrie, Tommy and Jimmie of Pleasont Grove, and Arlo and Ila Messinger and children, Mark and Jeanne of Beaver, and Russell and Jennie Styler and childen, Mike, Kevin, David and Erma Kay of Oasis. Another daughter and husband, hus-band, Nella and Ed Coplin of La Habra, Calif, planned to be here for the occasion, but Ed's mother took seriously ill and they couldn't leave. So there were 25 out of the 45 members of their family present and they all enjoyed a lovely birthday birth-day dinner and visit. Monday Mrs. Hilda Gillen, Val's sister was their guest. We all extend our congratulations congratu-lations and send love and best wishes for many more happy birthdays. 1 Beth Day and daughter, Mary Lynn went to Provo a week ago to attend the wedding of Beth's niece. They stayed all night and went to Salt Lake Saturday and had a nice day. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Willoughby took little Chris to Provo Friday to an eye spceialist. Dan and Yvonne Willoughby and children, Mary Ann, Tenny Marie and Robin, arrived Sunday. They are moving from Grand Junction, Colo, to Delta and wi 11 ber esidents of Delta 2nd Ward. Sorry we can't keep them in Oasis but there's a housing shortage. Visited Inga Peterson on the hospital Friday. Sure wish her a sspeedy recovery. Also her room mate, Afton Fullmer. We need her column in the paper. Hurry and get well. Garrison Hews BLANCHE RICHARDSON Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bell were Delta visitors on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dearden made a business trip to Salt Lake and back on Monday, March 23rd. Mr. Robert Eames returned to Garrison Sunday evening after taking his wife and small daughter daugh-ter to Syracuse, Utah to have the daughter's tonsils removed. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Young were Ely visitors on Monday. The Garrison Branch Primary presented their spring Sacrament service program Sunday, March 22. It was well presented and all that were in attendance report it was very good. Mrs. Billie Osborne went to Ely Wednesday afternoon to visit with Glenn's mother, Clara Callica, who is a patient at the Ely hospital. She reports her spirits are real good. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gonder and Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Gonder returned re-turned on Wednesday evening from a business trip to Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Dearden return-turned return-turned from Salt Lake Thursday evening. Miss Edith Ann Warnick who is attending SUSC was a house guest of Bill Dearden for the Easter weekend. James Wheeler spent the Easter weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wheeler. Michael Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hill of the Great Basin Lodge was kicked in the head by a horse. He was very fortunate no bones were broken but has a swollen black eye. Mr. and Mrs. John Whitson and son, Barry were accompanied by Chub Richardson to Brianhead to Inelly of Eureka. Catholics of the area celebrate mass every two weeks in a member's home while the remodeling of the building is being copleted. According to Mrs. Gemperline the work is rapidly progressing. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Topham attended at-tended a resturant convention in Salt Lake Wednesday and Thursday Thurs-day of last week. Going with them were Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper of Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Topham, Jr. and son, Christopher of Salt Lake spent Easter with hisi parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Topham. Preserve Early Pioneer Artifacts by HARRIET ELIASON A concerted effort is being made throught the continental United States to preserve early pioneer letters, diaries, and documents as well as pre- Columbian Indian artifacts, ar-tifacts, items which crossed the plains and early pioneer relics. This new effort is being sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President of the Deseret Stake, E. L. Moody noted, "It is imperative that members of the Church consciously and actively active-ly preserve articles they have inherited in-herited which are piece by piece being lost to posterity and the Church through the buying and selling market today." Mrs. Eldon A. Eliason, chairman of the Deseret Stake Historical Committee, is assisted by the fol-lowins fol-lowins persons: Mrs. John I. Pratt, Mrs. June W. Mrs. Judy Kaufman returned to her home Wednesday after spending spend-ing some time in Overton, Nevada with her mother after her father passed away. Mrs. Tabler returned with her daughter to stay for an indefinite period. Lillian Brumbly has returned from a winter's stay in Foxhome, Minn. She now has her place open for business again. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Richardson re ceived word from their daughter, Margaret that she spent her Easter vacation in and around the Port-j land, Oregon area. Owen Gonder who is attending USU arrived in Garrison Friday night to spend the weekend with his parents and other family mem-' bers. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Swallow and their family, Mr. and Mrs. George Swallow and daughter and the family members of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Swallow. A very delicious dinner was enjoyed by all and a lot of visiting was done. Mrs. Diane Dautre of Ely hadj her baby son blessed by O Merlin j Terry on Easter Sunday. Her mother, Mrs. Dee Heckethorn accompanied ac-companied her to Baker after the Sunday sedvices they drove up to Lehman Caves to visit with the Chub Richardson family. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Satter and children of Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Heckethorn of Spring Valley were visitors at the Lehman Caves and also the Richardsons on Easter Eas-ter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Larson and family of Salt Lake spent the Easter Eas-ter weekend at the Lee Dearden's. They returned to Salt Lake Sunday evening. Mrs. Wayne Gonder took her daughter, Lila Faber and three boys to Ely on Saturday to catch United Airlines to return to their home in Merced, Calif, after spending spend-ing their week's vacation here in Snake Valley. Thelma Anderson of Delta was a house guest of Blanche Richardson Richard-son for the Easter weekend. Henry Ramsey of Parowan reports re-ports some of his family members visited with him at Parowan on Saturday the 28th. Saturday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Bud Richardson drove to St George spent the night there, did some driving around the city Easter morning then returned via Parowan and visited with George Yersin and Henry Ramsey who are living there. They report they are both fine and looking well. They also stopped in Beaver and visited with Mr. and Mrs. James Hicks and children. They report there was quite a bit of snow in the Cedar and Parowan area. Garrison had a light snowfall Sunday night but it was welcomed by all. While eating Sunday another son, Merlin called from Brigham City. His oldest old-est son, Mark will be entering ths U. S. Navy soon. Merlin's daughter, daugh-ter, Barbara, who is teaching school in Tacoma, Wash., stopped in Delta recently to see Mrs. Workman. Work-man. Easter weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Riding were Raymond and Bonnie Vest and four children of Salt Lake. Jim and Beverly DeWyze and daughter, Michelle, have returned to their home in Minneapolis, Minn, after visiting with Mrs. DeWyze's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer U. Petersen.
