I was afraid that you would not find time during the holiday season to write. I'm glad you did. Did you have a good Christmas? We did. Christmas Day was very quiet at our home, though. After dinner and two or three hours of watching a football game and a basketball game on television, Bob and I decided to fake a walk thru the snow. Right behind our house is a big field of undisturbed snow. That's where we went. Our little dog, Caesar, went with us and you'd have died laughing at him. His legs were so short and the snow was so deep that he didn't dare run ahead of us. He walked in my tracks all the way. When we start ed back to the house he was shiver ing so, and his chest was crusted with snow, that Bob picked him up and carried him. It was kinda fun to be out. We thought we'd surely see rabbit tracks or bird tracks.but we didn't. Oour tracks were the oniy ones in the whole big field! Seldom a Christmas goes by that I don't recall being in a cantata with you when we were seventh graders. Remember our angel outfits? out-fits? And remember the three wise men with their sandals? And how we got the giggles- Poor Miss Brabbzson. We were surely her "cross to bear". I still don't know why I consider her my favorite teacher, but I do. She could make a person feel insignificant, couldn't she?. Is she still teaching? Mama LACLEAD NIELSON for 16 years. Pyland wrote me quite a long time ago about her sister, Miss Ella, retiring. re-tiring. Years fly by, don't they? It seems only yesterday that you and I were practicing to be the best paperwad "Shot" in all of Central High School! I think some of our little capers would win for us a title of "juvenile delinquent" today to-day don't you? ' Can't you see us now being called call-ed on the carpet in this day and age and questioned about some incident. in-cident. Bet two cents the conversation conversa-tion would go something like this: Authority: InezMarie, why did you do this thing? Us: Giggle, giggle. Authority: Don't you realize the consequences? Us: Giggle, giggle. Authority: Aren't you girls hap- py? Us: (Here we'd probably nod our heads that could mean either "yes" or "no".) Authority: How do you get along with your parents? Us: (Here we'd probably hang our heads!) Authority: Are your parents mean to you? Us: Oh, yes. They make us sweep the floors when we'd rather be at a movie. They make us pump water I for the stock and they make us come right home after school to do our chores. They don't give us money when we want it an they expect good grades from us at school. Yes, they are mean to us. Authority: Well, we'll just go down and talk with your parents. I'd frankly like to have heard Mr. Craig or Papa Pyland receiving such a visitor, wouldn't you? Papa Pyland's "brush", with Mr. Jones years and years ago when he was pruning grape vines and Mr. Jones was trying to get him to let me-play me-play basketball is still enough to make me cringe. He was chewing tobacco (whenever (when-ever wasn't he?) and he had no use for basketball playing girls anyway. The uniforms weren't proper enough for him. But, to be followed from vine to vine by the coach was a bit too much for Papa Pyland. Poor Mr. Jones. He was arguing a losing battle and never did know it! The kids are all well. Are you making an New Years' resolutions? I think I won't this yea.. Resolutions only succeed in making me feel guilty that I can't keep them! So, to heck with it. I'm not exactly pleased with "me" but then I can stand '.me" better with out adding a guilty feeling. I'm beginning to get anxious to learn what city councilman has what department for 1968. I hope that we'll have a good strong coun cilman over the "cleanup". Right now Delta looks pretty clean. Snow covers a lot, you know! Mayor Ma-yor Morrison will probably announce announ-ce the appointments at the Jan. 8 meeting. I'll let you know. Write when you can. As ever, Inez To Spenk Vows Miss Karen Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin P. Olsen, will become the bride of William E. Carroll in wedding rites performed in Idaho Dec. 28, 1967.
