We wore our dresses at the knee and our rayon stockings were real pretty colors. 1 had a pair of orchid ones, they looked real snazzy with the round garters all fancied up, with ribbons and bows. And can you imagine, we wore them below the knee so every one would be sure and see them. The girls' hair was worn real short and straight. The boys hair was long on top and combed straight back with a lot of Gook on it so it would lie smooth and straight. The dances were much the same as they are now. I can recall a few names: the Charleston and the Camel Walk. WHOW! What fun we had. I can still hear the older people peo-ple click their tongues, shake their heads and say, "What is this young er generation coming to," as we went through our weird manuevers, in what we called dancing. I envy you people. I don't condemn you. The family of Mrs. Nels (Edith) Anderson had a birthday party for her at her home Jan. 14th. There just isn't any substitute for electricity elec-tricity for comfortable, clean, care-free living. That's why almost every family is using more electricity today than ever before. So if your electric service bill is more than it used-to-be it is NOT because you pay me more for an hour's work (one kilowatt-hour of electricity). elec-tricity). Quite the contrary. It's higher because you're using more electricity. Just take a look and see how many electrical helpers you have in your home. In fact my hourly pay to run them is only half of what it was in this area 20 years ago even though the price you pay for almost everything else has almost doubled. That's why I say that electricity is by far the biggest value in modern living. Electricity is plentiful . . . and cheap . . . in the area served by 5Jteh Power & Light Co. i !ipEp?7 (-SB |
