Show Millard County Chronicle SUTHERLAND MRS. HEBER ROSE i It's so good that little Dean Ad-' ams is able to be home again after. an extensive stay at the Children s Hospital In Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Turner and family spent the weekend In St. George with their son, Kent, who is attending school there. Dixie also al-so celebrated its Homecoming. We saw Verl and Judy Tolbert at Cedar City last week. We also, saw Mignon and Ervin Hatch and children. Mrs. Hatch was the former form-er Mignon Erickson. Ervin is attending at-tending college there and likes it very much. We also saw Eloise Johnson and talked with her. She is acting as Sunday School Chorister Chor-ister in Mike's ward. Congratulations to Tillman and Virginia Johnson for their new baby girl. This is the second girl In the family. Kim Moody and Stephen Johnson John-son were ordained to the office of Deacons last Sunday. Stephen is the son of Tillman and Virginia, and Kim is th son of Thurman and EvaDean. Again we congratulate the Delta football team on their winning games. Do hope they win this next one for State! Mrs. Norma Jensen spent a few days with her son and daughter-in-law. Because of her daughter- in-law's illness, she made two trips up to Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Max Johnson received re-ceived a letter from Ralph Good man, who had stayed with them He reported that he will graduate from High School at Kayereta, Ar izona this coming spring. All of us in this area send our deepest sympathy to Gus and Nancy Fowles at the loss of their baby. May they keep looking onward on-ward and upward. The Relief Society held a special spe-cial work day last Thursday, because be-cause of the Ward Bazaar being so near at hand. The, bazaar will be held Dec. 2. Mr. nd Mrs. Heber Rose and Beu-lah Beu-lah spent the weekend in Cedar City, last week, visiting with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hap-worth Hap-worth and Michael Rose. Mr. and Mrs. William Bunker visited vis-ited in Price last week, with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. DaWayne Kimber and family. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fowles and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fowles were here for the graveside services of their brother's baby. They also at tended Sunday School here. Mr. Richard Henrie and his wife, Marsha, were Sunday night speakers. speak-ers. They both gave very good talks. Music was furnished by tne Choir and Sutherland School 4th and 5th grade students, under the direction of Mrs. Eleanor Roberts. Miss Beuiah Morgan spent last Friday night in Delta with a friend, Miss Ethlyn Yazzie. To visit Sutherland ward were Mr. and Mrs. Iverson (Elaine Done) Mrs. Choral Clark and Mrs. Sharon Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Steele returned re-turned after a five week's visit with their children. They spent a few days in Nevada with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Steele and family and then went on to Los Angeles, where they visited with their two daughters, Sharrie Steele, and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Dastrup and family. fam-ily. They had a chance to spend a week's time with Sharrie, who had her vacation at that time. They went swimming and spent some time along the coast; visited several sev-eral sake wards, went through the temple, etc. Their son-in-law is a High Councilman in his ward. They had the opportunity to visit the Speel Colosieum in Los Angeles. There they saw new homes, com plete with furniture and lanscap-ing, lanscap-ing, all under one roof. They reported re-ported that they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ferra Little. Ferra has work there but it was frightening job to get to his place because of such congested traffic, sometimes there would be an accident and cars would pile up, 30 or 40, at one time. The temperature on arrival was 104 in the shade then smog moved in. I think by all reports the Steels' would much rather live where, there is no smog, not so much traffic and a little less rain. The Ellian Fowles' had family members with them last week: Mr. and Mrs. Bryce (Gwen) Chappell and Colleen Fowles of Kaysville, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fowles of Salt Lake. Gwen stayed with her folks while Frank and Ellian went elk hunting at Fish Lake. They were some of the more fortunate hunters. They brought back an elk Mr. and Mrs. Golden Erickson mi cflft received word from their son, Monday. Mon-day. He was at his mission headquarters head-quarters and was assigned to tract at Wallsend, England. He said the weather was clamp and eld. He flew over Windsor Castle, and in New Castle, there are approximately 3 mil. ion people. The Ericksons also received a letter from the Mission President. Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Moody and family made a trip to Provo last week. J. Grant had some special spe-cial treatment for his injured knee, received playing football. DESERET zsz Mr. and Mrs. Donald Croft and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Rowley spent last Monday in Salt Lake on business busi-ness and shopping. Mrs. Rae R. Jensen and daughter daugh-ter Bonnie, spent from Thursday until Sunday in Logan, visiting a daughter, Diane, and in Salt Lake with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Vic-tor Roberts. Funeral services were held Thurs day for John Adelbert Bennett. Burial Bur-ial was in Deseret Cemetery. We extend our sympathy to his wife, Myrle and his sons, Randle and Leon, and to LaPreal, Glen and Blaine and his brothers, Jerold, Lawrence and Leslie. Mrs. Evva Croft left Friday for Las Vegas, where she will visit with Leon and Erma Dean Croft, and then on to Calif, and a visit with Wallace and Jerry Croft. We extend our sympathy to Gus and Nancy Fowles and grandparents, grandpar-ents, Dean and Jackie Black and great-grandparents, A. T. and Iga Black at this time in their great sorrow of the passing of Gary Lynn Fowles, 10-month-old son of Gus and Nancy. Marlow Cropper, of Las Vegas, spent several days during the week helping with the farm work and cattle. Rep. David S. King met Wednesday Wednes-day at Old Fort Deseret with a arge group of Daughter of Pioneers and .other townspeople looikng ov er the prospects of preserving the Old Fort and making a park there. This is a project I am sure every one would like to see completed. When we have such a pioneer land mark we should do everything possible pos-sible to preserve it and make it a site that everyone from far and near would like to come and see. Cecil and Fern Warner left Friday Fri-day morning for Garrison, where DELTA THIRD WARD BE A WILLDEN Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Al Willden visited the Northwest and came back by way of San Francisco. We stopped in Weiser, Idaho to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Dee Wilkins and family. Visited Visit-ed in San Francisco with Mrs. Ray (Arlene) Lynch and Mrs. Eugene Simmons. Visited in Sacramento with Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Ross; and Pollock Pines, with Mrs. Letti Tho- they were joined by Jim and Agnes Dearden and win go 10 Arigona, Calif.. Mexico and other points of interest. They expect to be gone about two months. Miss Alice Gave Bliss and Dar- rel Scow attended the "Preference Ball" held at Snow College, Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Fairchild of Midvale, Idaho, who are spending some time at Deseret accompanied Mr. and Mrs.' C. P. Ashby to Las Vegas, Nev., Page, Ariz., and thru the parks. They enjoyed a lovely week. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Black from Tooele, spent Saturday and Sunday with Verl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Black. LaVby Erickson, who is employed employ-ed at Todd Park, spent the weekend week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Erickson. A family dinner was held Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. L Dutson in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dewsnup, who were celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. an-niversary. The program at Sacrament meeting meet-ing Sunday night was presented by Mr. and Mrs. Russell Black. Talks were given by Russell and Marlene and a musical number by Marlene, and Paula Black, and Debra West ern. A large crowd was in attend ance to enjoy the program. We were glad to have the Newel Knight family present and also Max and Evelyn Robison, there to enjoy the Sacrament meeting with us. Individual awards were presented present-ed Sunday evening to the MIA girls for their attendance at all meetings meet-ings and other requirements which they had made. Those receiving a-wards a-wards were: Marilyn Mace, Sherrie Palmer, Paula Black, Shelia Sampson, Samp-son, Audry Black, and Kristine B Snow, borne by bitter winter winds, will soon be whistling around your door if it isn't already. Saw many points of interest along the way. Several West Millard DUP members mem-bers had the privilege of meeting with Rep. Dave King and his lovely ly wife, who is also an active DUP member in Washington, D.C. The meeting was to show the Old Fort Deseret to Rep. King, and to try to get recognition from the state to help preserve the walls of the fort that are fast deteriorating. Present were West Millard Capt., Zelda Ogden, 1st Vice Capt., Mrs. Al Willden, Maurine Anderson, Olive Ol-ive Barney, Romania Porter, Louise Cropper, Cleo Eliason and Harriet Eliason. N. S. Bassett accompanied Rep. King on the tour. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Al Willden this past week have been several friends, who were once residents of our area. Mrs. Mike Henrie of Las Vegas, came to Delta to help celebrate with her family the birthday of Mrs. Sarah McCullough. A family dinner was given at the home of a daughter, Fern Sampson. There were 11 present, including children child-ren and in-laws. Mrs. Marian Godmunson and her daughter, Stacey, of Lander, Wyo., are spending several days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Petty and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Killpack. Also visiting vis-iting is Mrs. Lela Petty of River side, Calif. Roger Henrie flew up from Las Vegas. Darrell Willden and Richard Hare joined him and they searched for the missing plane, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Vance (Karen) West of Brigham City, are rejoic ing over a new baby girl, born Oct. 28. This is another grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Evan Christensen, and the third child for the West's. Evan Riding visited in Delta Saturday, Sat-urday, with his mother; also, attending at-tending the football game. Mrs. Eulalla Riding visited in Granger, last week, with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Riding and family. A new grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton McCullough was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Carol) Stewart a son. Mrs. Erma McCullough McCul-lough visited and helped care for the new baby. After a week, Hamilton Ham-ilton went to visit and bring his wife home from Washington, Utah. Visiting with the L. F. Gordon's for the holiday, is their daughter, Shirley and family, from San Diego, Calif. They will visit in Delta and Sandy with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gordon, Gor-don, before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Dutson and daughter visited in Delta and Oak City over Saturday, with the Keith Ross family and the Emery Dutson family. Knight. A Thanksgiving program was presented, Sunday morning, by the Junior Sunday School under the supervision of Cleo Eliason, Blanche Jensen, Alice Webb, Dora Black, MarGenne Rowley and Joyce Moody. Moo-dy. The entire Jr. Sunday School took part on the program with songs, stories and poems telling what they were thankful for. A very special date for everyone to keep in mind is Dec. 1st, because be-cause on that evening the Deseret Ward Relief Society will hold its annual bazaar. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davis and Shiela Lundgreen, of Salt Lake, visited over the weekend with parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Rom Shields made a trip to Provo, Pleasant Grove and American Fork, for a visit with their relatives. Eve Shields came in from Ely, Nev., for our bazaar and supper, and stayed a week. They will be back in for Thanksgiving and maybe may-be for the winter months, we hope. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen and Dick, made a trip to Salt Lake for a medical checkup for Dick. He now wears a cast on his knee. He was injured some time ago and may require surgery. We hope for the best. Mrs. Jensen is caring for Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jensen's children child-ren while they are in Salt Lake, having surgery on one of the other oth-er children. Mrs. Fern Sampson entertained with a dinner for Mrs. Sarah Mc-Cullough's Mc-Cullough's 84th birthday, at her home Thursday evening. Those attending at-tending were Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton McCullough, Mrs. Kyle (Mildred) Henrie of Las Vegas, and Mrs. Fern Sampson. Later La-ter they all visited at the Harlon Stone home in Sugarville. A large crowd attended and enjoyed a very good program. Come again. Mrs. Porter and family also visited with us and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Johnson. The Relief Society held its bazaar, ba-zaar, Thursday night, with a supper sup-per and lots of beautiful articles for sale. Many came from all the other wards and we appreciate it. We read in Sunday's paper where a good friend and neighbor of years ago, passed away in Lindsay, Calif., Mr. George Webster. He and his wife ' had the Woodrow Store for many years. He ran the first picture pic-ture show in the Woodrow Hall for the many people who didn't have transportation into town. He also helped build and run the Woodrow Hall. He was a very prominent man in this community and we do sympathize sym-pathize with his wife, who is blind. Our love and sincere sympathies go to all the family.
