We were glad to have Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop and Mrs. Ethel Stanworth with us at Sacrament meeting Sunday night. Mr. Bishop represented the Stake High Council and gave instructions and a fine talk. Mrs. Stanworth ms a Stake Relief Re-lief Society Officer and her talk was ood and on the important sub ject Welfare. Mrs. Bishop gave a few remarks and also read a very lovely poem. A special anthem was sung by the choir with Eldonna leading and Edith Finlinson at the organ. A large crowd was present and found this program very enjoyable en-joyable and instructive. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dutson and Miss Wilna Wixom spent a f e w days at Panguitch visiting and fishing, fish-ing, also, seen their first grandchild at the Cedar City hospital before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Lovell and Mrs. Florence Lyman were Oak City visitors Sunday. William and Kae Finlinson Dutson Dut-son announce the birth of a son at Cedar City July 7th. Happy grandparents grand-parents are Willis and Thelma Dutson Dut-son and Burnis and Melba Finlinson. Finlin-son. Congratulations to all concerned concern-ed in this happy news. Another boy arrival and reported July 7th at Cedar City hospital was to Fred and Winona Tolbert. Happy grandparents are Meryvin and Ber-niece Ber-niece Alldredge. Congratulations to these happy people. Mrs. Louisa Lovell had her daughters dau-ghters Lillian and Marian and families fa-milies visiting. LaRae, Frankie and Susane Shipley Ship-ley of West Jordan were here Saturday. Sat-urday. Their brother Tom returned home with them. He has been visiting vis-iting a week or two with relatives in Oak City. Reed and Irene Talbot visited a few days in Oak City. They came from St George for the Arthur Talbot Tal-bot reunion Saturday in Oak City Canyon. Saturday, July 11th their children Georfge and Glenda and families came for the reunion. They report 92 members of this family present and a good time enjoyed by all present. Mrs. Ruth Anderson is happy to report a wedding reception for her son Glen and hride Saturday evening even-ing at the Oak City Recreation Hall. Glen has been attending school in Salt Lake this past winter. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Bradbury and children and Miss Bertha Jacobson were Oak City visitors over the weekend, also, Mrs. Ada Jacobson and daughters Nancy and Sheila. At Sunday School Mr. Vance Finlinson Fin-linson conducted the Adult Class. Mrs. Margaret Roper and Mr. Roy Walker were out of town. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Hawley visited visit-ed with Mrs. Hulda Anderson Sunday, Sun-day, also, her son Carlos and wife Beth were visitors with her Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Hawley attended our Sunday School. Mrs. Margaret Roper left Saturday Satur-day for the World's Fair and other places of interest. Sunday the children of Mr. Lafe Olson gathered at his home to honor hon-or and celebrate his 80th birthday. Happy Birthday to this respected oldster of Oak City. Lafe lives a-lone a-lone and does his work outside and inside. His garden is very noteworthy, note-worthy, also his flowers. Mr. and Mrs, Ivan, Shipley went with their children Larry and Verna Mae and families to Moon Lake vacationing, fishing and boating. Wilburn and Elaine Olsen and children visited in Oak City for a few days. They attended the Talbot Tal-bot reunion Saturday while here, also his father's birthday Sunday. Mrs. Ramona (Finlinson) Day and her daughters Colleen and Mar garet and son Curtis are visiting with her father, Esdras Finlinson and other relatives and friends for a week or two. Their home is in Enterprise. The Boy Scouts that went to the Jamboree from Oak City were Paul Anderson, Mason Finlinson and Marion Ray Anderson. This Jamboree Jam-boree is at Valley Forge, Penn. They will see other points of interest inter-est before returning home. Our Scout Troop went to Maple Dell for a week. Miss Leslie Carroll visited from Thursday to Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Talbot. Word has been received by his daughters, June Losee and I n g a Mae Shurtz and families that Eugene Eu-gene Memmott is very bad and ca'lled all the children to his bedside bed-side in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Helen Shields) Mansor and family of New Mexico are here visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curt Shields. Sunday all their families got together to-gether for a family visit. Cal Boothe came down Sunday for a visit. Elva Stone and Shirley Wright attended the funeral of her niece on Monday in Salt Lake. Shiela Lundgreen is here visiting with her sister, LaRene Davis and Donald for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen and family are visiting in Colorado with their son, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jensen Jen-sen and family for a week. Mr. and Mrs. John McCoy are taking care of their place in their absence. In Sunday School Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Taylor visited with us. La-Von La-Von gave one of her interesting stories for a two and a half-minute talk which was enjoyed by all. The Sunday night program was given by Mr. Taylor. Talks were given by Duane Jackson and Mr. Taylor. A piano selection by Linda Losee. Their talks were very inspiring in-spiring and we hope they will come again soon. Kenneth and Dianne Ashby were made members of the ward. Congratulations to Joyce Hill for SUTHERLAND Recent visitors at the Wallace Holmans ware Mr. and Mrs. Ray Holman of Bellflower, Calif, and Mrs. Alice Nelsen of Salina. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Walker went to Provo last week where Roger had surgery on his mouth so he seems to be on a soup and malt diet. Hazel Walker went with them and visited in Springville with her sister, Erma Roper, then on to Provo Pro-vo and joined Ferrell and they went into Salt Lake where they went with Bill and Linda Twitchell to "My Fa r Lady", which they en joyed very much. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnson, Evelyn Eve-lyn and Eloise left Saturday for Washington State to visit daughter, daugh-ter, Geneil and family and to see their new grandson. They were going go-ing to spend Sunday in Ely visiting Nina's three brothers. They will be gone two weeks. Joan Petersen of Orem is here taking care of the beauty shop in their absence. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Steele have their daughter, Earlene and family the Mack Dastrups of Los Angeles here visiting them for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. El Fowles and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Fowles went to Otter Ot-ter Creek fishing and reported very good fishing last week. , Mrs. Ivone Miller and three child ren of Fillmore are visiting the Ivo ugdens a few days. Lena Steele, Delia Johnson, Hazel Haz-el Walker, Zelda Ogden, Viola Law and Ethel Stewart spent a day last week in Salt Lake at the Genealogical Genealo-gical Library. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Walker visited with the Walker families last week. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Haynes and daughter Kim of Nephi visited their parents the Ferrell Walkers. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Wright visited visit-ed here with the LaVar Owens and Lori. Varla and Elwin are attending attend-ing summer school in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Boothe and family of Bountiful and Mr. Cal Boothe of Salt Lake visited with the Carl Pace family. Mr. and Mrs. Robin Hales of Logan Lo-gan visited Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hales. Robin is now out of the service ser-vice and is working in Logan wher he will be attending school this coming year. How to Attend! UTAH VENICE DAVIS winning the Bathing Beauty Contest Con-test in Nephi at the Ute Stampede Saturday night. She was sponsored by the Arctic Circle. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Boothe and daughter made a trip to Salt Lake for a medical check-up during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jenson and family, fa-mily, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Losee and family made a trip to the canyons, can-yons, Glen Canyon Dam and drove some fishing on the way, returning Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jenson and family went on a fishing trip for a while. Mrs. Kenneth Ashby is on the sick list this week. We hope she will soon recover. Mrs. Leo Davis and Henrietta and Marie Barben made a trip to Salt Lake Wednesday and Leo came home for a week's visit. Henrietta and Marie stayed for a week's visit with Mrs. June McBride and family. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Shurtz and family have moved this week to Cedar City and will make their home this summer. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oliver and family fa-mily stopped in for a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Oliver on their way home from their vacation in California Sunday. Little Bruce Clark, son of Bob and Sharon Clark, fell out of his father's fath-er's pick-up on the highway Wednesday Wed-nesday evening while it was running, run-ning, cutting his face and breaking his arm. He is now on the improve, which we are happy to say and hope he will keep oa improving. It could have been worse. Mr. Bud West of Spanish Fork visited over the week with Joyce Hill and family. Mr. and Mrs. Adrienne Greene and family of Oregon, visited Mrs. Lois Greene on their way home from Colorado during the week. Mr. and Mrs. David Wilde visited visit-ed Mr. and Mrs. Heber Rose and Michael over the weekend. Cheryl Walker went to Salt Lake to visit cousins and attend "My Fair Lady". Mr. and Mrs. Larry Clark and family of Granger visited Mr. and Mrs. Pat Barney. Mrs. Lyle Moody went to Salt Lake to accompany her sister on a trip through the record vaults in the mountain. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Porter returned from a vacation in California. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Jackson took Mrs. Rhoda Jackson back to Salt Lake after a week's visit here with her children. Mr. Lawrence Abbott is able to drive his own car to Oak City each day and visit Mrs. Abbott. Debbie Markham of Granger is spending the summer with the Boyd Bunkers. Mr. and Mrs. Oz Johnson and Sally Sal-ly went out to Ely to attend the Centennial Celebration. They also spent a day in Salt Lake last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holman went into Salt Lake for a medical check-up. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Adams and family of California spent a week visiting here. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Bunker Bunk-er -entertained on thek patio at dinner Mrs. Concha Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Adams and family, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Adams and family, fa-mily, Mrs. Verdella Adams and family fa-mily and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ad ams and family. All enjoyed the get-together. . Leon Smith, Wayne Edawrds and Boyd Bunker left Monday morning with a group of boys to spend a week at Yellowstone National Park. Boys going were Tom Christensen, Ken Bunker, Blaine Turner, Lee and Tom Tippetts, Sherman Petersen, John Henrie, Paul DeLapp, Richard Adams, Rodney Fullmer, Walter Hales and Bob Owens. Betty and Ralph Taylor came from Glen Canyon City. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Tayior and Reva stayed for the rodeo. Mrs. Clara Stewart had her dau ghter, Mrs. Mary Abbott and Mrs. Ricky Richard of Spanish Fork as visitors Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Hurst came especially to hear Elder Ray Bish- op give his report Sunday. Two of George Talbot and Glenda Wulfen-their Wulfen-their daughters, Lucille and Jan-1 stein were in charge of the reunion nette, siayed Sunday night with for this year. Mrs. Clara Stewart. Mrs. Fern Hepworth had a family cook-out Saturday night. Those attending at-tending were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hepworth and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Palmer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hepworth, Mr. and Mrs. Jex Hiatt and Mr. and Mrs. Heber Rose and Michael. Visitors at Mr. and Mrs. George Cahoon were Wayne and Jane Cole of Bountiful. They also visited the Albert Nickles family. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hardy and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Skeem spent a few days fishing on, Otter Creek. Lyle and Anna Lou Stanworth and family have moved into the Forrest Taylor home. We are very happy to have them in our community. com-munity. The Rookettes met at the home of Jacquie Hardy. Guests were Carol Bishop, Beryl Hardy, Chris Cropper, Paige Hawley, Charlotte Morrison and Valynn Dutson. Prizes went to Shirt Bailey, high, Elaine Hardy, second, Lyla Rae Morris, low; high guest, Chris Cropper, grand slam and Leora Ivie and Carol Bishop, go-set. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Theobald attended at-tended the Croft family reunion in Sar.t Lake. Their daughter Eda and her husband Blair Maxfield and children Russell, LaDawn and Anita also attended the reunion and came down to visit friends and relatives in the area. Biair was just sustained sustain-ed to be the first counselor in the Bel View Ward, Seattle East Stake, Washington. The Literary Club held their sum mer party on the lawn of Ruth Talbot. Games were played and a lucious supper was served to the following members and their husbands: hus-bands: Mr. and Mrs. Verdell Bishop, Bish-op, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris, Mr. and Mrs. George Ekins, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Todd Turner, Dean Moody, Neno Hoelzle and Lloyd DeLapp. A good time was reported by all. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Smith vacationed vaca-tioned last week. They went to the Manti Temple then on to Panguitch Pan-guitch to do some fishing. CELEBRATION UTAH OUR 1ST ANNIVERSARY PEN FOR MOSS Eugene Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Dana Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Talbot, Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Talbot, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Damron, Gladys Carter, LaFay Corey, Cor-ey, Elaine Hardy, Violet Robison, Rebecca Schena, Clara Stewart and Golda Talbot. Hostesses were An-gie, An-gie, Elaine, Ruth, Golda, Dana and Clara. The Arthur J. and Clara J. Talbot Reunion was held at the Oak City Canyon July 11. There were 92 present. pre-sent. All had an enjoyable time. Those from Hinckley present were Carol Bishop and children Vicki, Bradley, Doug and Steven, Golda Talbot, Linda Riding and the family fam-ily of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Skeem. Jimmy Talbot is vacationing in Yellowstone Park with Mr. and Mrs. Cleone Talbot and family. 4-H NEWS The Room Groomers met at the home of Carolyn Randall June 27 at 3 p.m. for our first meeting. We elected the following officers: President, Pre-sident, Phyllis Galli; VicePres., Dotty Dot-ty Damron; Sec, Judith Galli; Reporter, Re-porter, Rae Lyn Brown; Party Planr ners, Glenna Rae Taylor, Mary Shannon Steele, Peggy Palmer and Patty Palmer. Present were ten members. Besides Be-sides the officers there were Edith Ann Warnick and Kathleen Warn-iek. Warn-iek. Then our teacher Carolyn Randall told us what we would be doing in our project this year. We made our plans to go to the Deseret Fair grounds to complete a lamp as one of the projects in this class. On June 29 and 30 we completed our lamps under the direction of Mar Genne Rowley. The Room Groomers met at the home of Carolyn Randall at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7. Meeting was called call-ed to order by Phyllis Galli. Peggy Paler said the opening prayer. Then Judith Galli read the minutes from last week. Then Dorothy Damron led us in the song, "il'm a Little Acorn". After that we worked on NO NEED TO SUMMER... De-liah De-liah Stephenson, of Delta end two daughters of Deliah's, Amy and Mable, spent Friday afiernoon visiting vis-iting with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lovell. Then Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lovell of Oak City spent the afternoon after-noon with Ben and Millie. On Sunday Sun-day Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jones and granddaughter of Delta vis ted with them. Ben and Millie truly enjoy having people drop in to see them as it is hard for either of them to get around much. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCann of Payson are staying indefinite, y with Bud and Margaret. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Peterson have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. LaForge Lovell and family for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. David Nielson and baby have returned to Logan after having spent the week visit ng with Mr. and Mrs. Clint Nielson and family and in Nephi. Mrs. Hattie Anderson is staying in Provo for awhile with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anderson and family. Many folks from here are attend ing the funeral services for Mrs. Alverda Passwater today (Tues.). More on it next week. Mrs. Carl Gunn and two children stopped over Saturday and Sunday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nielson. Niel-son. They are on their way to New York and then on to Europe on a tour. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grygla and baby also, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Grygla were here last week visiting with mother, Mrs. Clara Johnson and boys. Mr. and Mrs. Burlon Hansen and family were in Yellowstone Park a few days last week. Community Church DICK HOMRIGHOUSE Far all you mothers who are interested in-terested in having your children attend at-tend our Vacation Bible School for this summer, please have your youngsters at the Community Church by 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 20. The morning sessions will last for three hours after the 20th with the first sess'on lasting only about two hours. The program will last for the remainder of the summer months. We hope that all the child ren interested will be in attendance. attend-ance. We are happy to welcome back Mr. and Mrs. John Wind who have been away in Provo during recent weeks. June Timmons is back from Oklahoma Ok-lahoma and Texas, and says she has had enough traveling for a-while; a-while; Jim and the kids agree. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sparke with their sons Chuck and Bill have returned re-turned from their excursion to Kansas Kan-sas via Colorado Springs, Colo. Af-er Af-er temperatures of 110 degrees it's nice to be back in a "cooler" climate. cli-mate. Mrs. Fern Crafts and sons got the camping bug and spent the weekend in one of Utah's camping spo'.s. Mrs. Etta Underhill enjoyed a short visit in Salt Lake with relatives. rela-tives. Visits are nice but being back is even more so. As for myself, I can't tell whether wheth-er I'm an apartment house manager manag-er or a student minister. Regardless, Regard-less, Abbotts! Please, hurry home! our pillow and pfilow cases.
