Show Yortb L dirGf) O O On Monday, June 4, about one hundred and fifty 4-H'ers from all over Utah arrived at Utah State University campus, where we spent four wonderful days at the Utah Youth Leadership Conference. The theme of the conference was "Understand "Un-derstand You and Others, Too." The convention was sponsored by the Sears-Roebuck Foundation in coordination with the Utah State University, who so graciously provided pro-vided housing, buildings and other facilities. The first night we were welcomed welcom-ed by Mr. Matheson, assistant to the president of the university. Then Glen Baird outlined the pur-1 pose of the conference. The high-' light of the evening was the get-acquainted get-acquainted party in the Student Union Ballroom. Each morning we met for morning meditation. The keynote speaker at the con ference was Dr. Glen C. Deldine, Consultant, Human Development and Relations, National 4-H Club Foundation. Each morning he talked to us and gave us many points to think about., Then we broke up In 13 discussion dis-cussion groups where we discussed the points he outlined for us. After re-assembling, we had a panel discussion by members selected se-lected from each discussion group. In the afternoons, the delegates were divided into committee workshops, work-shops, where they planned specific activities. Tuesday, June 5, we attended a canyon party up Logan Canyon. This proved to be especially fun for everyone. Mr. Paul Worthington, from the United States Peace Corps, talked to the conference and showed slides connected with peace for our country. . A smorgasbord was held in the ballroom of the Union Building. A square dance followed and everyone every-one had a wonderful time. The final candidates for mayor and mayorette were announced. Sam Overton, son if Mr. and Mrs. Dale Frampton, of Fillmore, was chosen as one of these candidates. The final program of the con ference was Thursday morning. Da vid D. Hurford, from Los Angeles, representing the Sears-Roebuck Foundation, was guest of honor. The farewell party in the Union Ballroom was a special way to end a very special week at the conference. con-ference. Fun games and dancing made it enjoyable for all.
