As the starting whistle blew and Beaver garnered the tip, Delta was in for trouble. Beaver missed their first chance at the bucket while Eddie Cole dunked one in from just outside the keyhole to break the ice and give Delta a 2-0 lead. Then Cole, and Dutson exchanged baskets bas-kets with Rollins and Dean of Beaver Bea-ver to tie things up at 6-6, which was the last tiime the Rabbits had their lead. From then until the final whistle Delta never came within 8 points of the Beavers, who out-played, out rebounded, out shot and out scored the Rabbits and handed them their first defeat of the season in league play. In the second period Delta never made a basket until Barben hit from the field with more tha 4 minutes gone. Then Dutson hit for three quick field goals to give the Rabbits 8 points in the second period. But while Delta was get- Wed 55 Years S. Cahoon, of Deseret ted between Deseret and Fish Springs. In the third quarter the Beavers aga n dominated. Hitting only two from the field, but capitalizing on the fouls called on Delta, gaining 9 from the charity line. Every man 0!i the Beaver team scored in this quarter. Delta, on the other hand, started out pretty good this quarter by making eight points before Beaver Bea-ver hit from the field, but then Eeaver started to click, and the Rabbits only got 2 more points in the remainder of the quarter, which was 5 minutes. In the final period, Beaver out -eorc-d the Rabbits 11 to 7 to give them their final score of 51 to 32 and send the Rabbits home "defeated." "de-feated." Statistic wise, Delta had a bad niTht, both from the shooting point and "hustle" department. The Rab- bits shot 42 times from the field, ir.ly eirriit less than against Paro-'vfin Paro-'vfin the week before, and hit 11 of them. (They made 22 against the Rams which gave them 26 per cent on their -hooting.) I don't have Beaver's figures, but my own observation is that they shot the way Delta did against Parowan the week before. From the foul line I saw the Rab bits hit 10 out of 22 attempts. Beaver, Bea-ver, on the other hand, made 22. They attempted, 35. The fouls called in the game were one of the big deciding fac tors of the game, with the Rabbits having 20 personal fouls called against them and the results being Eddie Cole and Gary Dutson leav , ing the game via the five foul I rule, Dutson in the third period, Cole In the 4th. , According to Coach Allred, and I quote "We were just out played Friday night. The boys didn't seem to have that 'ol hustle' they have had all season. We will be ready for them next time." j FLAY ALUMNI Delta has a Bye this weekend and will be playing a non-league game at home against the alumni.
