Show A IES A KELLY RELLY DIES f PIONEER OF DELTA james A kelley aged pioneer of delta died sunday from pneumonia at the advanced age of eighty three mr air kelly had been severely inbur ed in an auto wreck the week before sustaining a badly injured wrist two broken ribs and hurts on the back and head from these injuries he was slowly recovering until pneumonia set in causing his death james A kelly was mas born in edin burgh scotland nov 25 1850 he ile came to utah in 1872 later he mar ried margaret campbell removing to mills utah engaging in a stock farm which his son jack now manages in 1908 he came to delta one of its ear ly pioneers and took up land and water an opportunity came to sell that investment at a good profit and he did so investing the returns in the bank hotel which was finish ed as to the first portion erected in 1913 he ile and his family added to the hotel from time to time until today mr air kelly s holding are among the most valuable in the town lie ile Is survived by his widow mrs margaret kelly living at mills and by nine of twelve children born to that union namey mrs margaret strong strang mrs elizabeth martin of torrance cal mrs airs rachel strang los vegas john kelley mills jam es hugh and william of delta and daughters mrs airs marle purdy and mrs mearn stolz of delta fifteen great grandchildren survive and one great great grandchild the funeral was held at delta Delt on tuesday with a large gathering of friends to show their last re with beautiful floral tributes and speakers of prominence mr kelley had made a pronouns unc ed success at delta with foresight and with well directed help from his sons and daughters he be built up a large and very kalua ble holding for many years he was affection abely referred to as dad kelley he was a man of sterling qua littles thrifty keen in judgment and well liked by all even up to ten days ago he took active part in the man mai argement of the hotel delta loses one of its staunch and dependable citizens in his passing and the entire community extends condolences to the family i |
