Cahoon, son of Clayson Cahoon of Delta, Utah, was among 75 students in the College of Human Hu-man Development at Pennsylvania State University who were honored at the annual awards banquet here tonight. Cahoon, a doctoral candidate in child development and family relationships, re-lationships, was awarded the Fisher-Price Fellowship for the second year. The $3,400 award Is given to a doctoral candidate in child development who has outstanding out-standing scholastic, leadership and character qualifications. A graduate of Delta High School, Cahoon is a member of the honorary honor-ary sociology fraternity, Alpha Kappa Delta and the National Association As-sociation for the Education of Young Children. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Brooklyn, New York, sponsor of this Bible educational program, has made arrangements to use the Price Municipal Building Build-ing located at 191 East Main Street, Price, Utah. Hilton has assumed responsibilities re-sponsibilities as assistant dean in the Southern Utah State College School of Business and Technology, it has been announced by Dr. Roy-den Roy-den C. Braithwaite, SUSC president. Mr. Hilton is a native of Hinckley, Hinck-ley, Millard County. He graduated fro Utah State University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree and received a Master of Science degree from the same institution !n 1965. Both degrees were in Indus trial Arts. He received, a doctorate in Education from Colorado State College in 1969. He was a teacher-principal in the Hincklev Elempntarv SchnrVI from lyii to J.y4( ana taugnt at Tooeie High School from 1951 to 1957. He was assistant principal in the Brigham Young University Laboratory Labora-tory School and taught in the BYU Evening School from 1957 to 1968. He also taught part time at CSC while working on his doctorate. He was employed by the U. S. Signal Corps as aircraft radio mechanic me-chanic and completed radar school at Philco Training School in Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, finishing as top man in the school. He also worked as a radio announcer while in Tooele and was draftsman for Tooele City. Mr. Hilton was a radio technician techni-cian in the U.S. Navy and enrolled in Special Devices School where he studied optics, hydraulics, meters, me-ters, projectors, amplifiers, and other electronic subjects, accumulating accumu-lating the highest record in the school. Mr. Hilton is a member of Phi Delta Kappa education fraternity and is active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has worked in the scouting program for 19 years and has been active in choir and chorus work. He is married to the former Valeda Swensen of Hinckley and they are the parents of four children, chil-dren, Eosalee 27, Glen Ross 26, Raymond 19, and Jeanette, 15. Millard County Chronicle Thursday, December 18, 1969' Hunter Training Dated for January The tenth annual hunter safety training course, conducted by The American Legion Post 135, will begin be-gin Monday, Jan. 12, 1970, 7:00 p.m. at the Delta Junior High School. Kligible to attend are eleven-year-olds and up. Registration fee is $1.50. The class will run concurrently I with the training class conducted by the Division of Fish and Game over KUED, Ch. 7. Many local youngsters will probably prefer to stay home and catch the course on television. The telecast is scheduled for every Monday evening eve-ning from 7:30 to :00 p.m. Over 600 west Milard youngsters have completed the American Legion Le-gion class during the past ten years. Drug Abuse, Other Topics discussed On Dec. 11 the West Millard PTA -Council held an interesting and educational meeting at the District Office in Delta. Dr. Herbert Fowler, psychiatrict, was featured speaker. Parents and teachers were invited in-vited to attend and participate in the discussion. Drug abuse was the main topic of discussion but many questions were submitted in written form and from the floor on methods of ' grading in school and the responsibilities respon-sibilities of the juvenile judge. "We feel that having Dr. Fowler work with us is a tremendous assistance as-sistance to the community," express ex-press council members. Members of the council are Lola Burraston, Pres.; Cora Sabey, First Vice; Talmage Taylor, Second Vice; Lois Maxfield, Third Vice and Delia Johnson, Secretary.
