Show IIIX KIJ Y ELAINE HARDY Glen Ross Hilton and wife, Kathy visited with Fannie Lee Hilton, lone Christensen and family and the Randle Swensens Sunday. He is the son of Ross and Valeda Hilton. He and Kathy have been living In Orem and are moving to Washington. Mrs. Golda Talbot left the end of the week to go to Crescen where she will stay with her daughter, Celia and family for a while. Lucian Keller suffered a heart attack this week but is somewhat better now. Tim Crafts went to Salt Lake Monday. Clara Stewart had her granddaughter, grand-daughter, Peggy Abbott (daughter of Mary and Vance Abbott of Spanish Fork here to visit with her. Clary and Connie Morris and daughter visiited with the Wesley Morrises on the weekend. Ruth and Cluff Talbot Irecently attended the annual Quartet Festival Fes-tival held in Salt Lake. Diane and Ed Hornsby of Hollywood, Holly-wood, Fla. who have been visiting Dianes' parents, the Ken Damrons, have returned to their home. Mike Damron, who was also here on account ac-count of the illness of Ken, has returned to his home in Salem, Oregon. His family has remained here and Mike will return In the near future. Reva and Lynn Talbot visited in Meadow Sunday with Reva's mother, moth-er, Mrs. Lula Gull and hed sister and husband, Howard and Roma Bird. Gordon Chatwin went to Salt Lake during the week. last week I didn't have any of the details of the burning of Tom and Karen Simpson's home in Kamas. The furnace exploded causing the fire and the upstairs of the house, several bedrooms and the family's clothing and other things were lost. Celia King has had her brothers here to visit her and the family, Mr. and Mrs. John Fielding and family of Henderson, Nev. and Mr. Lawrence Fielding of McGill. She brought Clyde's mother, Mrs. Elva Stevens of Pleasant Grove back with her for a visit. Jim and Nancy Larsen and chil-, dren of Tahoe Vista, Calif, were here recently to visit Randle and. Oleta Swensen, the Dick Mechams and the Carl Corrys. Vera and Heber Bishop have returned re-turned home after visiting with their children in Payson and Bountiful. Boun-tiful. They were gone about 10 days Bobby Meinhardt returned to Salt Lake after visiting us this weekend, with Sharilyn Gifford and baby, Shawn. Sherilynn moved to Salt Lake this week. Everyone invited. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Morris received re-ceived word from their son, Eddie that he is in Hong Kong and will be flown back to the United States and be mustered out of the service. Niel-son Niel-son of Leamington announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Karla Jean, to Mr. Phil H. Christensen. Mr. Christensen is the son of Mrs. Edna Christensen of Deseret. Miss Nieison is a graduate of Delta High School. She is currently cur-rently employed in Salt Lake City. Mr. Christensen is a graduate of Delta High and served two years in the U. S. Army. He is now working in Salt Lake City. The engaged pair will exchange ex-change wedding vows Friday. Dec. 19 in Leamington. Openhouse at the Nieison residence resi-dence will follow that same evening eve-ning between the hours of 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jensen made a trip to Spanish Fork Saturday night for a family get together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Jenson. ZELMA SHALLBETTER Mrs. Dorothy Gardner had all of her children home for Thanksgiving, Thanks-giving, which was also Archie's 82nd birthday. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Cropper (Mae) and daughters, Camille and Colleen of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Jensen, Jr. (Cora) and son, David of Los Angeles and children, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jensen and Karen Jensen of BYU, and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Gardner and Sydney and Mr. and Mrs. Evan Gardner and Miss Margaret Mar-garet Gardner of Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Trussel of Salt Lake visited with Miss Margaret Mar-garet Gardner over Thanksgiving weekend. Spending a day at the farm riding horses was an exciting event for the Trussel children. Mrs. Ora Gardner went to Salt Lake with her children, Ray and Maryetta Forman and family to spend Thanksgiving with Ray's parents, the Glen Forman family. While in Salt Lake she attended the MIA Centennial Ball at the Salt Palace. She reports having a superfantabulous time with dancing danc-ing in two ballrooms and continu ous entertainment. On Saturday Mrs. Gardner had a "happened" to get together when her son Jay and Ilene Gardner and children of Richfield Rich-field and the Thanksgiving weekend week-end visitors of Mrs. Dorothy Gardner Gard-ner and Miss Margaret Gardner happened to drop in. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Nickle of San Raphael, Calif, visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nickle on Thanksgiving. Mrs. La-Rue La-Rue Nickle underwent surgery in Salt Lake Dec. 1. Her husband, Albert Al-bert brought her home Friday. We wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her out again. Mrs. Adaline Jeffery spent Thanksgiving with Zerma and Oliver Oli-ver Tripp in Callao. Last weekend her daughter, Pearl Jeffery and friend of Salt Lake visited with her. We express our sympathy to the Kenneth Wright family in the loss of their son, Bryant. Last Wednesday, Zelma Shallbet-ter Shallbet-ter received a phone call via radio from her husband, Raymond in Vietnam. Screaming to be heard and with an audience of operators (radio, telephone, etc.), nothing special was said. In a desperate attempt to see her husband, Verla Jensen traveled to HD1 Field Air Force Base where she spent a few hours with Major Warren Jensen between New York and Okinawa. Deciding that Verla had the right idea, Ruth Jensen and Elbert and Zelma Shallbetter also traveled to Hill Field where they visited with their son and brother for ten minutes. On the way home they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Jensen and family of Sandy and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farris of Spanish Fork. Also in Salt Lake last week were Clayton and Betty Jeffery. The prospective groom is completing com-pleting his tour of duty at Fort Sill, Oklahoma after serving a year in Vietnam. ABRAHAM MRS. AFTON FULLMER Last Monday morning our son, Jay was hurt quite badly at the Ashby feed yards. He is still hospitalized hos-pitalized but doing as well as can be expected. Probobly will be out within a day or two. Mrs. Gladys Tolbert took her daughter, Dorothy's three children home last weekend and stayed a few days. Dorothy is doing pretty good after surgery on her throat. Sherman Tolbert spent several days in Nevada last weekend. Mrs. Rae Petersen drove the school bus while Gladys and Sherman were away. Mr. Reuben Turner, our long time old friend, is slowly recuperating recuper-ating after his car accident two or three weeks ago. Mrs. Lola Stoneking is home after staying in Salt Lake a while withi Carl Stoneking caring for his wife Ferrol was down with phlebitis. phle-bitis. Congratulations to Sidney and Cecelia Young on the birth of their 4th child, a little boy born last week. This makes two boys and two girls for them. A letter I received from Mrs. Margaret Taylo in Phoenix, Aiz. says she is well and glad to be out of the cold. She recently flew from Sunnyvale, Calif, where she had been with son, Lee and Betty his wife for a while. Lee is a Salt Lake visited Mr. and Mrs. La-Mont La-Mont Works. Bird Center On Thursday, Dec. 18 will be the Annual Christmas Party. The pot luck supper will start at 6:00 p.m. We have a few dates left if any adult group would like to use the center contact Mr. Seegmiller. It is clean, warm and decorated for the holiday season. DONATIONS TO CENTER Christmas is a time for giving-but giving-but giving and donating has been part of the program at the M. E. Bird Recreation Center for Senior Citizens since July 1966 when the project started. Since that time, everything from quilting frames donated by Mr. and Mrs. LaClead Teeples to a huge display counter (worth approximately $300.00) was donated by Mr. Orvil Jeffery of Quality Market, at the time he remodeled his store. Just recently letters were mailed to ten civic and social clubs asking if they'd like to help with our "furniture re-do' project. The response re-sponse has been great. The Delita Lions Club was first with $50, the Hinckley Lions Club dnated $25, the Fidelity Club gave $25, the Jolly Stitchers have collected $32, Hinckley Rook Club $10, and Hinckley Hin-ckley Literary Club $10. Thanks to all who are helping to make life more meaningful for our senior citizens. SOCIAL SECURITY Mr. Alvin Anderson, social security secur-ity representative will be at the County Office Building in Delta on December 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. grandpa now. Their only daughter, Janice is the new mother. We have snow on the ground and Mr. Weatherman says more snoiw coming-it's that time of the year. Mrs. Cleone Tolbert hasn't been at all well lately, but only missed one day of school so far. Hope she is soon well aagin. Stanley Bliss of Payson visited Clark Bliss one day last week and they went on the desert. Bryant and Geniel Brush's baby, who has been so ill in Las Vegas is doing alright now. Soon after they got home 'their neice, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Martin of Sunset, Ut. visited them and Mrs. Rose Webb and Clarence in Delta. Belated birthday wishes for Mrs. Rose Webb on her 80th birthday Nov. 23rd. ,Mrs. Janice Corbett Spencer and baby, Donald came in from Ely, Friday for a check up with the doctor and shots for the baby. She wil visit awhile with the Chester Corbettss. Congratulations to Mrs. Anderson of Trout Creek school who was chosen as KSL Radio Teacher of the week. She has 19 in her one room school and might be the last or one of the last such schools. The children love her very much. |
