Callister, Manager of the Millard County District, Utah Telephone Company is pleased to announce that telephone service in this area has progressed with no apparent problems because of the nation wide strike of Communications Communica-tions Workers of America (CWA). He also stated that some delay may be experienced on long distance dis-tance calls but only because of the shortage of operators at the distant ends. He requested that if delays occur, that the telephone subscribers sub-scribers be patient and that tho local operators will make every effort to complete their calls with a minimum of delay. Moss, through his W shington office, today urged the Federal Aviation Administration not to discontinue weather reporting report-ing service at Hanksville and Delta, Utah. In a letter to the FAA, Senator Moss said he has, in past years, urged the retention of the weather reporting service at the two locations loca-tions which is operated jointly by the Weather Bureau and FAA. "I am alarmed to learn that ellimina-tion ellimina-tion of this service is again being proposed," he wrote. The Utah Democrat pointed out that the weather reports from these points cover some of the most rugged and remote areas of the nation. "Because of the long distances involved and the rugged terrain, more and more persons are using airplanes in the Intermountain West, both for business and recreation recrea-tion trips. Those in the State of Utah best informed on aviaation and those most responsible for air safetly, including Governor Ramp-ton, Ramp-ton, vigorously oppose any change in the weather reported service at Hanksville and Delta," he said. He urged the proposed action be reconsidered and that the service be maintained. City Council (Cont'nued from front page) possibility of the city contributing $1,000.00 to the association. Council asked the Chronicle to remind Delta irrigation water users that time is drawing nearer for the water to be turned into the ditches. Ditch tax is $5.00. Water will not be delivered to those users who have not paid their tax. Council Coun-cil restated. Less than 50 of the users piad their ditch tax last year. It appeaers that about nine turns of water will be available during the summer. Two feet of water will be delivered for one share. Rental prices have not been established yet. yt. Council wishes to make the following clarification of the Delta City Water Surcharge: Recent action of the Delta City Council was to rescind action taken by the previous council on a $2.50 sewer charge for residential homes and $5.00 sewer charge of ail busi nesses. Later action was to assess a $1.00 a month charge against each water meter. The $1.00 a month charge is applicable to all meters in and out of city limits. These funds will be used on BOTH sewer and culinary water improvements.
