Show Oak City News MACEl ANDERSON We ore having another winter spell at present with snow and plenty of moisture. It is good for all the crops that are planted but few days to work the ground with so much moisture. The temperature tem-perature was in the low 20's so we don't expect any fruit to survive this coid spell. The Relief Society had a fund raising project on Saturday to help build the new ward church. The rast half of town prepared dinner and a program and sold it. Over three hundred fifty dollars were raised to apply on the building fund, which is a big boost in the right direction. The Oak City town is having a hard time finding a day for the annual spring clean up, as the weather controls the time when they can work. Mrs. Louisa Lovell returned to her home Saturday where she plans to stay for the summer months. Mrs. Margaret Roper and Mrs. Ruth Anderson made an emergency trip Into Provo Friday to see about Margaret's eye which was not doing do-ing very well, as the stitches didn't dissolve. She Is Improving at the present time. Mrs. Roper has her granddaughter, Ruth Anna Morris staying with her at present. Miss Hazel Christensen visited a few days from Salt Lake with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Chris tensen. Mrs. Ada Jacobson and daughters Sheila and Connie and children of Provo visited Mr. Thurlo Jacobson, Bertha and Delia for a few days. Students home from school this weekend were Karl Finlinson, and Barry Anderson of Snow College and Miss Sharon Stuart of Provo. Mrs. Janet Torrens and children are visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Finlinson. She was here last week and helped her mother with spring cleaning. Mr. and Mrs. Delynn Nielson and children of Salt Lake visited a few days with their mother, Mrs. Twiss Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Anderson of Midvale visited Mrs. Helen Anderson Ander-son over the weekend. Miss Jane Finlinson of Logan was home for a spring vacation with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Finlinson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christensen of Salt Lake visited a few days with his brothers, Glen Christensen and Ralph Christensen and their families. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Walker and Junius Anderson attended the Ground Breaking ceremonies at the new beryllium plant at Delta last Friday. Roy said he had the opportunity to talk to the dignitaries digni-taries and invited both Governor Rampton and Rep. Lloyd to come to the barbecue at Oak City next August. We hope they accept the invitation and let's all get on the ball and do some .ooking ahead for the big day. Two carloads of people enjoyed the Relief Society Day at the temple tem-ple on Thursday last week. Then on Saturday Mrs. Max Cox and Mrs. Macel Anderson spent the day at the temple. It was very special as a group of missionaries were in attendance. at-tendance. They were such fine looking fellows. Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson entertained en-tertained Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Clark and family visited a week in Farming-ton, Farming-ton, New Mexico with Faye's brother, Bill Alldredge and family. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davis and Michael, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Lund-grecn, Lund-grecn, Steven and Mark of West Jordon visited Mr. and Mrs. Leo Davis and family Saturday. Don came to help his dad with the farming, but the snow came and they returned home the same nite. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Jensen ami small daugher of Calif, visited the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen and family. Then Mr. and Mrs. Val Soronson and sma.l son and Ross Jensen of 'Bountiful visited them over the j weekend. ! Mr. and Mrs. Zen Boot he ami Judy have moved back with us in I their home and we are most happy to welcome them back again. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Boothe and family of Alpine visited with them over the weekend. Sunday night the program was given by Evan Gardner's seminary class. Talks were given by Dan Johnson, Kim Rawlinson, Patricia man and Mrs. Jenny Gentry of St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Kleinman were speakers at Sacrament meeting meet-ing and the fireside that followed. He talked of the Book of Abraham and his people and of the land of the Arabs where they lived a year and a half while working as an electrical engineer. The ward has just finished remodeling re-modeling the scout room for the boys and also put new floor covering cover-ing and new dressing rooms on the stage. It looks very nice and we appreciate seeing it look so nice. Visiting Madge Christensen over the weekend was Carol Ann Pratt of Salt Lake. Donald J. Pratt and children, Spencer and Melissa, of Salt Lake recently visited with Mr. and Mrs. John I. Pratt for a few days. Weekend visitors at the Seth Jackson's were Dwaine and Janet of Salt Lake. College students home over the weekend to visit their parents were Florence Church, Steve Alired, Dan Jensen, Dale Roper and Stephen Church. Sunday afternoon Mr. George Bliss visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph F. Stoneking and Todd. Mr. and Mrs. Bliss just returned from a week's vacation. They visited in Herlong, Calif, with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Trauntvein (the former Zel-ma Zel-ma Bliss) and family and spent some time in Elko and Reno. She Is the daughter of Tommy Theobald. The ward farm cleanup was held Saturday In spite of the bad weather. A large number of men turned out to help. About a hundred hun-dred hours of work was done. The Relief Society served dinner. Ward Conference was held Sunday. Sun-day. Visitors to our ward were the Stake Presidency, Pres. Emerald Moody, Eldon Eliason, Frank Lyman, Ly-man, Ferron Loved and Ned Church They were accompanied by their wives with the exception of Mrs. Church. Mrs. Mary Ellen Evans and two children, Amy and Aaron of Amer ican Fork visited with her parents, the Hon Croppers over the weekend. Her husband was on National Guard Duty. Mr. and Mrs. George Ekins are so happy over the arrival of a baby girl to Margaret and Frank Wilde of Salt Lake last Monday, Apr. 15. Sebrina has been with the Wildes this past week to see the new little girl and to help with the family. The new baby has a sister, Lisa. Congratulations. Geneil Webb is now at home with her parents, the Robert Webbs She is working in Delta. Bessie and Willard Hardy 'A Spanish Fork visited here last week. They came to hear the mission report re-port of their grandson, Mark Skeem of Oasis. Saturday Bessie and Will-afternoon. Will-afternoon. Wasn't that a nice snowstorm over the weekend. I wonder if we will ever have spring? Let's all remember the Primary Family Hour this coming Sunday in Sacrament meeting. At the Cluff Talbot home this week has been their son, Carl, and a friend, Darlene DeVad and her daughter, LeAnna; also their son, Russell of Provo, Carl is home on leave from Point Magu, Naval Air Force Base in Calif, from Saturday until Thursday. Arvilla Workman had her brother Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Jacobson of Provo visit her and Karl ne day this week. Sharon Buchanan and family of Salt Lake came by train Saturday to see the recital that Teresa participated par-ticipated in. They all returned to their home Sunday. l ee nnd Lois Wilson of Dugway spent Saturday and Sunday here. At the Ted Dennisons this week has been their son, Harold, Elaine and their baby son of Salt Lake. Their son. Marion has also been nt their homo for a couple of weeks. He has been discharged from the service and is now attending an electronic school in Chicago. Ixnvoll nnd Ester Petersen have returned home from several days visit to Phoenix, Ariz, where they visited their son, Nels nnd family; also former Deltans, Clayton and Lucille Stapley, Ed and Kathy Petersen Colo, and Jim and Beverly Petersen DeWyze. i Allen and Llilian Keller have been up from St. George this week. Their daughter, Julia Simisky of .Salt Lake came to visit them. ' Thora Petersen and Donald went to Salt Lake Saturday where Don had a checkup with his doctor for his hand that he recently had operated oper-ated on. I Mrs. Fannie Hilton entertained I the Literary Club at her home this week. The evening's program was given by Mr. and Mrs. Verdell .Bishop on "Education Today" and particularly at the BYU. Dana and Verdell are serving on the Parent's Committee of the BYU. Films were shown in addition to the talk and information that they gave. Ruth Talbot, Arvilla Swensen, Belva Morris, Golda Talbot, Thora Petersen, Carl and Valyn Dutson went to the Manti Temple last Thursday on Stake Temple Day. Mrs. Alice Bliss had her grandson Reggie with her a day this week. Sympathy is expressed to the family of Max Bishop, who passed away in Calif, this past week. Max was a brother of Gordon Bishop and the son of Don T. Bishop of Delta. Gordon and Kay and family were in Calif, to attend the funeral services. Rita and Loren Jackson and son, Curt, of Nevada spent the Easter holiday at the home of Rita's parents, the Eugene Bishops. Mrs. Lillian Wood of Holden visit ed here with her daughter, Beryl Hardy and family Saturday. Diane returned to Holden with her grandmother grand-mother to visit. Beryl and Carl went over on Sunday and brought her home. Carl and La Verne Theobald went to Provo with their daughter, Elaine Turner and her daughter, Carolyn, Saturday where they attended at-tended open house for LaVerne's niece, Olivia Croft, and James Man-grum. Man-grum. Olivia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Croft. ROUNDUP BY SARAH ADAMS All of the West Desert people had a very nice Easter. We had a sunrise service for Sunday School on Easter Sunday. It started just as the sun came up. We had a very nice program provided by the local people and after meeting we had a very nice breakfast cooked over the campfire. The Bagley family made and cooked sourdough sour-dough hot cakes and the rest of the meal was furnished by the different families of the valley. Mr. Sam Falkenburg is back out to his place for a few days. He is feeling quite well now and hopes to spend most of the summer out here. Charlene (Davy) Bronson is feeling feel-ing a lot better now. She is able to be home most of the time.but she has to make frequent trips in to see her doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hinkle and son and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Christian and daughter spent the Easter weekend visiting with the Oliver Tripps. Linda Nevvbold got her leg hurt quite badly. She was standing behind be-hind a tractor when it started to roll back. It knocked her down and ran over her. She was lucky she didn't get hurt very badly. Her leg was not broken.
