Show Millard County Chronicle Thursday, July 27, 1967 SUTHERLAND Mr. went and Mrs. Golden Erickson lng her 82nd birthday nt the home to Cedar last week to see Elder Sorenson who had been one of Ray's mission companions. Elder Sorenson showed some slides of the England mission and a couple of them Included Elder Erickson. Elder Sorenson will soon depart for the Army. The Ericksons also visited with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ervln Hatch and children. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Beagley and family of Cedar spent the 24th holi day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bunker. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wind of Orem came to see their mother, Mrs. John Wind, last Sunday and Hamblin and baby, all enjoyed n of her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Stanworth and baby. Mrs. Edwards is a former Sutherland and Delta resident, now living in Salt Lake. Her birthday is Tuesday, July 25th. She would welcome calls from her many friends and neighbors. Bishop and Mrs. Melvin Hepworth left for a tour to the Expo-67 in Canada and to visit other places of historical events such as the Sacred Sac-red Grove, the Pagent, Philadelphia and many more places of interest. They will be gone three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robinson and family, including Mr. and Mrs. Ellis returned home the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jensen made a trip to New Castle last week to take Mark, their grandson, back to his home and to see their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Woolsey. They brot Eugene back with them for a visit of a few days. Mrs. Woolsey is the former Marion DeLapp. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Callister of Cedar spent the 24th with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Jackson Jack-son and Steve and Mrs. Nell Callister Call-ister in Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Jack-son and the Callisters spent a few days in the Southern Utah Canyons last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Penrod of Orem were visitors of their sisters, Mrs. Frances Bohn and Mr. and Mrs. Heber Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Robinson, Ty, Trace, Lorl and Laura, visited with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Rose Gary had some geological work. checking the west springs. Mrs. Afton Briggs returned to her home after a weeks stay with her daughter, Mr and Mrs. Michael Rose and baby. Bishop and Mrs. Walker made a trip to the Southern Utah Moun tains to do some fishing and enjoy the mountains. Halel said it was very warm at this time but the fishing was good. Mr. and Mrs. Thurmon Moody attended at-tended one of the Shakespearean Plays last week, "The Comedy of Errors." Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Peterson hae moved to Abraham and are in the Sutherland Ward. We welcome them here. Mr. Warren Peterson and friend were visitors of Warren's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. John Ahlsrom and family, Marlene, Roy, Dorothy and Jodi, all of Ely, Nev., were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnson and Elouise. The Johnsons and the Ahl-stroms Ahl-stroms attended the Kanosh Centennial Cen-tennial last week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Larsen and baby are here to spend the remainder of the summer with the Johnsons. Carl has finished his summer school. Delia's children have taken turns staying with the Johnsons. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth (Delia) May is home from the hospital now and is doing fine. Jim was burned with thud degree burns right after school was out this spring and has spent most of the time in the hospital for skin grafting and care. Gloria and Clair Gubler of Las Angeles, were here to visit wilh their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Benson. The Young Marrieds held an over night family party at Oak City Can yon last Wednesday night and everyone hurried back to work. The Stake M-Men and Cleaners held an evening of roller skating at the Hinckley recreational center last week. Robert Owens, son of Mr. nd Mrs. Eugene Owens, was hurt in the rodeo Saturday night at Hinckley. Hinck-ley. Ho was hospitalized overnight. lie is doing fine now. Mrs. Elizabeth Tippetts of Hurricane Hurri-cane s staying with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Reid Tippetts and Lee. Mrs. Tippetts was a former resident of the Reid Tippetts home. It seemed seem-ed so good to see ner again. Miss Sally Pitt of Calif., is here visiting with her aunt an uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Herald Peterson and cousins, Shirley, Suzanne and Richard. Rich-ard. Dale Johnson visited with his Mother, Mrs. Mary Johnson. Mary spent a week in American Fork with the Johnsons. They have a new bahy. Ward Day will be on the 15th of August. Watch for further details. We were all saddened by the death of one of our dear neighbors and friends, Ray Johnson, Puly 19. Ray had been ill for quite a long time and spent almost two months in the Nephi hospital before his death. We wil miss his cheery smile and the warm friendly way he had in speaking to everyone. Our sincere sin-cere sympathy goes out to Elaine and her family especially Mark, who was unable to be here as he is on an LDS mission in Texas, and his wonderful parents, Maude and Oxel. The chapel was filled with Ray's many friends and relatives. Coming from a long distance were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kelsey, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kelsey, Mr. and Mrs. Orvil 0. Mr. and Mrs. Randell Bradfield went to Salt Lake over the week end to visit with Dee, Shirley and boy. They also visited the zoo and saw Dan and Elaine. Roger and Nyra Nielson and baby Rory, are living in Fillmore now. Victor Bradfield is working at Fillmore with the Forest Service. Carma Hansen went to Scipio last Monday to the celebration there, also to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Peterson. She took Kim, Shauna, and Wade with her also the boys horses which they had alot of fun racing witli the other kids. They brought their granddaughter, Peggy Nelson, daughter of their son, Harold, also Julie Prochko daughter of Oral's sister, Jewel. She had been spending spend-ing some time in Calif, with them. Her father will fly down from Salmon, Sal-mon, Idaho, and pick her up. She is visiting the Kenneth Nielson and Jack Nelson families until he comes Mr. and Mrs. Oral Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson went to Jackpot, Nev., and visited a cousin and wife of Oral and Jack's then up to Gooding, Idaho, and spent the day with sister, Jewel who is in the hospital there. They took her to Sun Valley and had lunch then brought her back to the hospital hos-pital and came on home in the evening. It was a beautiful trip and very interesting. The day was enjoyed with sports and program and lunch at the Tony Callister home. Mr. and Mrs. Lathel Callister had a very pleasant trip last week with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Callister and Lyndon Callister. First they traveled to Arvin, Calif., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Fernard (Marilyn Callister) Wood and family, fam-ily, then on to Hayward, Calif., where they attended church with their son, Elder Von Callister and visited the Oakland Temple and mission home. While in Hayward, they were entertained by the Mau-rine Mau-rine Briggs family. Maurine grew up in Delta and has a family of five children. Monday morning they continued on thru San Francisco, up the coast thru the Redwood forests, for-ests, lumber mills and cities to Ft. Lewis, Wash., to visit Kent and his army pal, JohnGriffiths, They toured tour-ed Seattle and returned home thru Boise, Idaho, bringing Kent home far a week leave, Kent will fly back to Ft. Lewis where he will continue his traingin in ambulance service. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Callister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mark By-bee By-bee ,and family, Joan and infant, son, also Jan Callister, son of Sheldon Shel-don remained to visit during the week with parents, Mr and Mrs. Lathel Callister. Kathleen Terrell who 's employed with KUTV spent part of her vaca tion touring the southwest and into the Redwoods. She is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Terrell and brothers, Max and Clark and their families. She also sang at the wedding reception of Colleen Farns worth and Stephen Rowley. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Terrell had all of their children here for a family reunion. Those enjoying a bar-B-Q, boating and waterskiing at the reservoir res-ervoir were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hogan and children, Todd and Hedi, Mr. and Mrs. Max Terrell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Terrell and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Jed Johnson and children, Gailann, Leslie, Jody, Caro lyn, Eradley, Mathew, Stacy and Joel. The Terrells have 20 grandchildren grand-children and all were in attendance Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Jeaen) Terry and children Keith, Russell, Allen, and Cindy of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen (Dorene Terry) Talbot and Stephen and tiny Tamera De, came to visit parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mont; Cook and to get the girls, Penny and Sheri, who had been visiting with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Cook and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Talbot of Hinckley. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Skidmore have had children home for a visit. Mr. and Mrs.. Sweney (Peggy) Wind chief and baby, Danielle, Mr. and Mrs. James D. (Muriel) Martin, and children, Sherryl, Kathy, Teri Ann, Doug, and Wendy, of Sunset. LeRoy flew fom Tooele to Delta for a days visit. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thomas and children, Bunny and Debbie drove to Rio Linda, Calif., they also took Chuckee, Ricky and Danny Melwee who have visited grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Thomas and other relatives this past month. While in Calif, they visited Lake Tahoe and spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Warnick, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mel wee Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Klien, Mr. and Ms. Bill Thomas. Bunny and Debbie are staying in Calif, for a real vacation, the parents return ed to Delta Monday. Mrs. Amanda Whicker enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Fern Mortensen and children, Cherrie, Paul and Jill ove the weekend. Mr. Charles Ahlstrom and sons, Steven and Mork, visited our neigh borhood Saturday. They had enjoy ed Kanosh Centenial Celebration. Steven has just returned from a Canadian mission. They lived on our block 11 years ago in the house CP. Ashby is now remodeling. Many who came for Bishop family fam-ily reunion visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Bishop, David and Dean Bishop, twin brothers, of Sandy; Don's sister, Mrs. Irene Skeem and son Mark of Buhl, Ida.; ason of Max Bishop's of Costa Mest Calif, and his granddaughter, Shell Brown. Mr. Glen Tullis of Cedar visited the Don T. Bishops also Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Elaine) Boyce of Salt Lake and son, David, attended the rodeo and visit them. Mava and Joan Whicker spent the weekend with us. We all enjoy ed the paiade on the 24th in Hinckley. Hinck-ley. Word has been received, Alice Gardner is no improved and will en joy cards and letters from friends. We are happy to say Jack Turner has been able to leave the hospital and is now home. Shirley Bunker has completed her summer school and is visiting par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bunker. The Arthur Bunker family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Bunker. Pot luck dinner, sw'ming in the home pool and boat ing and skiing on the reservoir. Miss Doris Dekker recently took an 8 day trip to Los Angeles and other scenic spots in that area. She toured Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Marineland, and many other spots. She made the trip by bus in the company of her girlfriend. She reports seeing many interesting things and having a wonderful time Mr. and Mrs. Arjann Dekker n company with Robert nnd Margaret made the round trip thru all of the canyons of Utah and into Arizona Second Ward Hews EDDYS BAHBEN Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Larsen and family of Nephi spent Sunday with their parents, Bishop and Mrs. Win. Bassett. Visiting at the home of S.O. Stoddard Stod-dard this week were the brothers and sisters of Orin Stoddard, Mr. George Stoddard and two children of Salmon, Idaho; Mr. f.nd Mrs. Robert (Helen) Davenport and son of Meridian, Miss.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lckan of Cleveland, Ohio and four sons. The Moody family has all been together this week at their parents, M. Ward Moody, home. They enjoyed enjoy-ed a family reunion Sunday and Monday. Those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Ross Esplin and family of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Peterson Peter-son and family of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Anderson and family of Provo, Mrs. Dorene Sheldon and family of Portland, Oregon, David and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moody. The program in church Sunday night was given by the Moody family. Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Black and family were visitors with the June Blacks. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Lyman and sons, Rick and Bob, just returned from a four day vacation and trip to Cody, Wyo., to visit Mr. and Mrs. John (Ruth Ann) Robertson and their new 7V41b. baby boy born to the Robertsons, July 14. The Lymans visited Yellowstone Nat'l Park while they were in the area. Miss Sylvia Hendrickson of Jerome, Jer-ome, Idaho, spent the weekend at the Edwin Lyman home visiting with Joe and the family. Her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Gayle Hendrickson, visited Sunday with the Lyman family. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lyman, Jane and Mary, spent five days in Calif, last week. They visited in Los An geles, and San Francisco. Leo was interviewing and will be teaching history in the high school at Riverside, River-side, Calif., next school year. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Carter and two girls, Francis and Margaret, of Ruth Nev., visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Crane, Friday. Rex and Peggy are brother and sister. Mr. and Ms. Lee Myrup of Kays-ville Kays-ville were visitors at the Grant Crane home Saturday. Grant and Lee Myrup were friends in the service ser-vice and have not seen each other for ten years. They had a fine visit and renewed old friendship. Miss Ellen Anderson of Cedar was a visitor at the Edwin Miler home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Miller spent Monday in Brigham City visiting. to view the Grand Canyon from all points. It rained every day which is keeping everything very green and lovely. Such a nice time was had by all. Wednesday the Arjann Dekkers' were surprised and delighted to have Judge and Mrs. Fred L. May of Gait, Calif., come to visit. The Judge and Mrs. May were accompanied accom-panied by their three children, Robert, Ro-bert, Carol and Peggy. Judge May works out of the Saciamento office where he had been a deputy for about 20 years, previous to being elected judge. The Dekker's have corresponded with these people for about 12 years but had never seen them until they came for a visit. They extended their trip over an extra day and night because they were enjoying each other's company com-pany so much. The Dekkers hope that the Judge and his family will return often and stay longer.
