Show Millard County. Chronicle- Minutes of Regular Meeting Held April Following are the minutes of the Board of Education meeting held April 14, 1965 at the district office. All members, the superintendent and clerk were present. Meeting convened at 10:00 a.m. President Clifton Beckstrand con ducted. The minutes of the regular board meeting on March 10, 1965 and the special meeting of March 22, 1965 were approved on a motion by Member Delma Jean Galll and sec onded by Member Jack Nelson and was carried unanimously by the members of the board. Payment of the bills as they were listed through check no. 11821 were approved by a motion by Member Dr. Evans and Member Delma Jean Galli seconded and was carried unanimously by the members of the board. Supt. Barney and Member Nelson reported on the National . School Board Association meeting held in Boston, Mass. . Supt. Barney presented the budget bud-get and expenditure to date for the 1964-65 fiscal year. A review was requested to be made in the area on Sites and Other Capital Outlay. Supt. Barney presented the salary and policy concerning teachers with Military service. Supt. Barney read the resolution made in board meeting meet-ing of June 5, 1963 as follows: "A motion was made by Member Evans Ev-ans that, effective in the 1963-64 school year, hew personnel being brought into the district may be given credit for military service not to exceed two years. The . motion was seconded by Member Ashby and carried. There was one . "no" vote." Member Jack Nelson made a motion to remove the same resolution reso-lution and it was seconded by Mem be Huff and was carried unanimously unani-mously by the members of the board. It was suggested that a letter let-ter be written to each teacher concerning con-cerning this matter. ; v. '.'Mr. Duane Peterson, Peterson Insurance In-surance Company, presented a student stu-dent insurance program from Amer lean Casualty Company. There were four plans available to each student stu-dent and the premiums ranged from $1.00 to $10.00. However, students stu-dents participating in f o o t b a 1 1 would be required to take out an additional insurance policy. Supt. Barney suggested the possibility pos-sibility of declaring an epidemic due to the amount of flu and measles mea-sles to cover the Increased amount of absentism. Mr. L. C. Miles was present to review the medical program for the employees in this district. A schedule sched-ule was prepared showing the current cur-rent cost and the cost to furnish employees the extended benefits. The additional cost to the district was $2,819.16. It was the opinion of the board members that the additional ad-ditional cost was relatively small in comparison to the additional benefits be-nefits that employees would receive. re-ceive. Member Gerald Huff made a motion to accept the additional Medical and Extended Benefits to the present Hospitalization and Surgical program at the same ratio of cost, 25 to the employee and 75 to the district, seconded by Member Nelson and carried as follows: fol-lows: Delma Jean Galli, "Nay"; Jack Nelson, "Aye"; Dr. Evans, "Aye"; Gerald Huff, "Aye". Supt. Barney presented a letter from Ashworth Architects, which covered an estimate to relocate the new section of the Kanosh Elementary Elemen-tary School to Fillmore at an approximate ap-proximate cost of $21,025.00. This may be considered in connection with consolidation of the elementary elemen-tary schools. Supt. Barney presented the Quit Claim Deed to the board which were signed by the President and the clerk to exchange the property which the school district owns describes des-cribes as follows: Commencing at a point 150.00 ft. east of the Southwest corner of Lot 2, Block 61, Plat A, Delta Townsite; thence north 18 degree de-gree 26,06" west 158.113; -thence south 125.00 feet; thence south 45 degree OO'OO" east 35.35 feet; thence east 25.00 feet to the point of beginning, for the property owned by the Phillips Phil-lips Petroleum Company, a Delaware Dela-ware Corporation, described as follows: fol-lows: Commencing at a point 150.00 BREMEN A?' Mr. Ray Warner, SEA Testing Company and Miss LaZell Borg, Elementary Supervlser, presented the results of the testing program which indicated that the pupils were above the National Average. Supt. Barney and Miss Borg reviewed re-viewed the teachers required and recommended changes and vacan cies. Member Delma Jean Galli made a motion to accept David Church for Principal of the Hinckley Elementary Ele-mentary School which was seconded second-ed by Dr. Evans and was carried unanimously by the board. Member Huff made a motion to accept Kay Bassett as the band Instructor at the Delta High School which was seconded by Member Nelson and was carried unanimously unanimous-ly by the board. It was the opinion of the members mem-bers of the board for Supt. Barney and Miss Borg to adopt a policy to recommend classes for teachers to take to increase their skills during dur-ing the summer months. Supt. Barney presented the tenta tive, school calendar for the fiscal year 1965-66 which was approved. Member Dr. Evans made a motion to dismiss school on Monday, October Octo-ber 25, 1965 for the deer hunt, which -was seconded by Member Huff and was carried as follows: Galli, "Nay"; Nelson, "Nay"; Huff, "Aye"; Dr. Evans, "Aye"; Beck-strand, Beck-strand, "Aye". Supt. Barney requested that it be made known that the site of the present Delta Junior-Senior High School is for sale and this was in agreement with the board. Tht following emergency leaves were approved by the board, Fran cis Aitken, Louise S. Nielson, Barbara Bar-bara Webber and Winona Dutson. Adjourned 6:15 p.m. Mrs. Sherman Perkins entered the Salt Lake LDS Hospital Wed nesday, April 14 for surgery. She is recovering nicely and is expected home this weekend. Here for Easter weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Peterson and family from Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. Arland Peterson and family from Pleasant Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Peterson, baby Cindy, from Salt Lake City, with parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson, and brothers, bro-thers, Shirley and Carlyle and fam ilies. THIRD WARD AREA NEWS BEA WILLDEN A lovely Easter day for a change. I'm sure everyone enjoyed it. And, also, the visits from families and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Don Roesner and daughter, Jeri, are spending ten days in Delta visiting. They will re turn to Chicago the 25th of the month. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Forster and children of Roy spent Easter in Del ta with Mr. and Mrs. Al Willden and family. Also visited Mrs. Ila Forster. Mrs. Austin McWilliams visited her mother, Mrs. Ila Forster. Fors-ter. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Lambright and daughter Cris visited Mrs. Zola Lambright over Easter. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Anderson were home visiting with the Alfred Lakes and Nels Andersons. Mr. and Mrs. Lathal Callister had most of their family home for the welcome home address given by their son, Neuman. Neuman gave his report Sunday night. Those of tht family home were Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Callister and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Callister of Ogden, Miss Jo-Ann Jo-Ann Callister of Roosevelt, and Lyndon and Jerry from college. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ashton and baby ba-by Todd visited Mr. and Mrs. Dar-rell Dar-rell Taylor over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Young and children of LaMirada, Calif, are visiting vi-siting Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Mills and Butch. LEGION AUXILIARY ELECTION Election of officers of the American Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary will be held Thursday, April 29, at 8:00 p.m. at the post home. Following the elections a musical program will be presented by the choral group of Delta High School under the direction of Miss Julia Bogh. All auxiliary members are urged to be in attendance. SINGING MOTHERS PRACTICE Sineine Mothers oractice Is set for Thursday (today) 2:00 p.m. and aerain Sundav at 2:00 D.m. at the Deseret Stake Center. CORRECTION It was erroniously stated in last weeks Chronicle in the article headlined "New Patrolman" that Tom Rynearson, Highway Patrolman Patrol-man had put in his application for the transfer as soon as he received word of the resignation of Mr. Ken Clements formerly of: Delta." The article should have read "He put in his application for the transfer trans-fer as soon as he received word of the request of a transfer by Mr. Clements." Trooper Clements is still with the Highway Patrol. He and his wife Audrey and their daughter Murna reside at Panguitch.
