Baker Pharmacy Burns, Over $60,000 Damage Baker Pharmacy, owned and operated op-erated by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Baker, Ba-ker, was the scene of an early Saturday morning fire. The fire caused more than $60,000 damage to the firm. Mr. Baker said that approximately approximate-ly 75 of the pharmacy's stock was destroyed in the fire which apparently broke out around 4:00 a.m. Smoke and heat damage was caused to the adjacent Rod's Barber Barb-er Shop, owned and operated by Rod Ivie and the Delta Billiard Hall, owned and operated by Curly Robson. Reed Wood, Delta Fire Chief, said a faulty electrical line to the basement furnace room appeared to be the cause of the blaze. The fire charred one section of the floor in the one-story, brick building and damage was extensive exten-sive to most of the stock on the shelves and store equipment. Seventeen volunteer firemen brot the blaze under control being call ed at approximately 5:00 a. m. The fire department was alerted by J!m Nickle who was at Hatch's City Cafe for breakfast. An electrical clock at the pharmacy phar-macy had stopped at about 4:00 a.m., leading to the belief the fire had begun earlier, Fire Chief Wood said. Baker Pharmacy is now operating operat-ing from two locations. The prescription pre-scription dept. and general drug lines are located immediately north of the building, in the site previously pre-viously occupied by the post office. A fire sale is being held in Mr. and Mrs. Baker's building which they recently purchased from Mrs. Norma Nor-ma Wright and is located next to The Delmart. Mr. Ivie is temporarily quartered across the street next to the Day Insurance Co. He will be at his old location as soon as possible.
