Show J Millard County Chronicle Thursday, July 31, 1953 LYNNDYL MRS. MARY JOHNSON Wardi-'il and Eric Nielson drove to Salt Lake City and spent tin; July 2-lth celebrating. Word comes from Miss Susan Nielson, who is touring Europe, that she is having a wonderful time, she is at present sightseeing in Germany. Mrs. Margo Iverson and children of Logan and her mother, Mr.; Sadie Christenscn of Aurora vis ited here Friday with Mrs. Lucille Overson and family and with Mrs. Eunice Nielson and family. Eugene came down from Logan for thc weekend and took his family back home with him. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Dutson and family spent last week in Salt Lake where Eddie had eye surgery. He spent the week at the home of his narenls, Mr. and Mrs. John Dutson. Mrs. Dutson visited with relatives in the city. It will be another week before Eddie will be able to return to work. Mrs. Emily Wade and her mother Jane M. Ashby visited here Saturday Satur-day afternoon. They alU'ided the Finlinson Reunion at Leamington as special i nvited guests. Here, they spent their time at the Clead Nielson home on Saturday. Mrs. Norine Shipley and family, attended the reunion in Leamington Leaming-ton Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ray-mond Finlinson from Whittier California Cal-ifornia spent some time here with the Lee Shipley family. They left their daughter here for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. Finlinson returned re-turned home Wednesday. M. and Mrs. Sam Vest and family spent last weekend in Provo with Mr. and Mrs. Kirt Roper. The men folks drove on up to Strawberry for a day of fishing. Brother Clarence Hogan spent the 24th holiday in Salt Lake City with his wife. Sister Hogan is there for medical aid. She is responding favorably fav-orably to the treatment she is receiving. re-ceiving. Miss Enla Wilkins spent several days in Salt Lake City last week. Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Wilkins accompanied their son, Ray and Miss Mary Louise Sorenson to the Manti Temple for their marriage. A reception honored the newly-weds newly-weds that evening in Spring City home of the bride. Mr. .and Mrs. J. Alma Banks drove over from Manti and attended the reception. Miss Gladys Banks drove down from Salt Lake City, and on Friday, Miss Banks and Mrs. Ruth Abeg-glen Abeg-glen drove to Milford for the funeral fun-eral of a relative and they visited Mrs. Maurine Miller and family while there. .- Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nielson have had their grand children, Liz and baby Stewart Fowler of Salt Lake City, the past week. Their parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Bo'b Fowler came for them Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Talbot and children from Midvale came down Wednesday and made an overnight over-night stay with parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Talbot. They took them back for a stay with family members mem-bers in and about Salt Lake City. Mrs. Emogene Larsen and her children were in Salt Lake City for the pioneer holiday. Mrs. Larsen visited her father at the Vet (vans hospital there. Mrs. Colleen Levy of North Dakota Dak-ota flew to Salt Lake City to be with her mother, Mrs. Margie Greathouse -while- Fred is in the Mr. and Mi3. Joe McGuire and four children, of I)ng Beach, California., Cal-ifornia., and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Morrill, of Salt Lake City, made a visit in Delta Wednesday, wilh friends and former neighbors. While Joe was in Idaho two weeks willi Air Force reserves his family visited the Morrills. Miss Zelma Jensen has returned home again al'ler having been to Salt Lake City where she had surgery sur-gery performed upon the muscles of 'both eyes. Zelma is a Sophmore in High-school and hopes to be fully ful-ly recovered before school starts. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jensen of Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith and two young sons, of Los Angeles, Calif., are visiting in Delta this week with Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Pearson, , i tarn Sandra Lee Davis left Delta Sunday Sun-day to return to her father, W, Raymond Davis, at Lincoln Park, Mich., after a visit of two weeks wilh he.- grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gardner. Mrs. Donna Sundquist and children, child-ren, Buffy, Dennie and Lynn, of Vernal, Utah, spent ten days visiting vis-iting Mrs. Sundquist's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jensen, at Oasis. hospital. lie is seriously ill at this time. Miss Cheryl Greathouse who has been home and in Salt Lake the past two weeks left Sunday evening for San Francisco to resume re-sume her work there. Miss Linda Greathouse returned home with Mrs. Larsen and children Friday evening. Mrs. Phyllis Nelson visited Mr. Fred Greathouse at the Salt Lake hospital Saturday. She and family drove in for the day. Mrs. Lois McCardell and Jim returned re-turned home Friday after spending the week in Salt Lake with the Brant Wall family. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Nielson spent the day Saturday visiting in Fountain Foun-tain Green with relatives. A group of Mutual girls were taken to Gooseberry girls camp Monday morning by Frank Gross. The girls were Connie Gross, Frankie Shipley, Kay Nelson, Margaret Mar-garet Bowers, Janet Nielson and Melody Mills. Mr. Gross will go back for the girls Saturday morning. morn-ing. The program in church was given by the Earl Greathouse family with Miss Jane and Kay Nelson assisting assis-ting wilh a piano duet and an accordian solo. Talks were given by Earl, Nola and Dan Greathouse. Open House . The open house held at the Herbert Her-bert Abegglen home in honor of Mr. and Mrs. J. Alma Banks was a very nice affair. Friends and relatives rel-atives came from all around to greet the honored couple. Coming from Beaver were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Gardell Banks and family from Milford also the Hardy family, their sons and wives from Milford. Mrs. Mable Eckry and her daughter from Nampa Idaho, Mrs. Amy Erickson from Salt Lake City, and friends and relatives from all about the county called and wished them much happiness. After the summer closing, Mr. and Mrs. Banks will return to Manti to continue their work at the temple. SHIPLEY The 21lh celebration drew a large crowd to enjoy the parade, program races, horse shoe pitching, rodeo, picture show and dance and everyone every-one seemed to have a good time. The people of Oak City appreciate the very fine work the different committees did to make the day a success for all. Reception The weding of Mr. and Mrs. (Diane Harris) EIzo Porter was July 23 at the Manti Temple. Family members that we.e present were: Lulu Loveil, Angeline Mecham, Belva Jones and Gene Gardner, all aunts of the bride, her sister, Gene Kennedy, Josephine Lyman and Janice Cope from Provo, also another an-other carload of friends from Oak City also Diane's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Harris. The reception Saturday Sat-urday night at the Oak City recreation rec-reation hall was enjoyed by a large crowd. The bride was lovely in a white lace dress. Many lovely and useful gifts were given showing the love of friends and relatives. Grant Harris was Master of ceremonies. cere-monies. A nice program was enjoyed. en-joyed. The happy couple and their family left Monday evening for Walla Walla Washington where they will make their home. Mrs. Gene Kennedy left Monday night to join he.' husband, Tom Kennedy at Illinois where' they will live. Gene has spent most of the summer with her parents, Mr. and M.rs Earl Harris. Mrs. Geniel Martin and children from Crescent, L'tah are visiting a wt'.-k or two with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shipley. Larry Shipley Ship-ley was in Oak City for a weekend visit. He returned Sunday to Salt Lake where he is attending vocational voc-ational school. Mrs. Rachel Melville and children Lynn and Marilyn spent sevedal days in Oak City. They returned to Salt Lake City Sunday. Roberta Loveil went to Salt Lake with them for a visit. Other visitors in Oak City were Mr, and Mrs. Willis Lyman from Rexbuig Iilaho. Mrs. Amy Faust came from Salt Lake the past few-days, few-days, Mrs. Clar a Atkins and children spent last week at Spanish Fork with her sisters, Julia Bliss and Virginia Moody and other friends. A very enjoyable day was reported re-ported by the many Finlinson relatives rel-atives in Oak City Saturday at Leamington for the Finlinson reunion. re-union. . Sacrament services had over a 60 audience counselman Bruce Loveil took charge of services, Mrs. Clara Atkins and Mr. Elzo Porter were the speakers. The choir furnished fur-nished the music. Mr. and Mrs. David Eoshard and family from Salt Lake City are visiting here with Mr. and Mrs. June Hinckley and family also with thir parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holman of Sutherland. David, Steven, and Kathleen visited us ri our Sunday school. Bobby and Terry Abbott are visiting vis-iting with their grandmother, Doris Abbott. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Shumway from Blanding are visiting with (heir daughter and family, Bonnie Abbott. Bishop and Mrs. Frelen Shurtz and Mrs. Leo Davis made a trip to Provo on Friday. So keep this date in mind and come one, come all. The program in Sacrament meeting meet-ing last Sunday was given by the Bishopric. Talks were given by Bishop Cropper and Loenza Wil-loughby. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Swensen and three children from Midvale visited vis-ited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Gillen Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Bishop and family from Cedar City came up Friday and attended the Bishop reunion in Oak City Canyon, Saturday. Sat-urday. They returned to their home Sunday evening. Their son, Jimmie stayed to visit his grandparents this week. Mr. Mark Lewis who is attending school in Provo visited last Sunday with Miss Marlena Carling. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carling and 3 children visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fon Hawley on the 2-lth of July. The Carlings live in Salt Lake. Mr. Emanual Stanworth and his son-in-law from Canoga Park Calif., spent last week visiting in this part of the country. They made their headquarters with Mr. and Mrs. George Stanworth. Now I've got to go back a week and catch up with my news. Things go on that I don't know about. Such as Biah Sjostrom shipping off to Calif. w;ith Mr. and Mrs. Hilt Kelly a week ago Monday. She will visit her daughter, Virgie Mur-ry Mur-ry and family in Gault Calif, and other members of the Kelly family from there before returning home. And Inez Kelly went to Provo July 17 and stayed with Darrel and Ann Cropper to help care for the new baby girl. They all came to Oasis July 23 and stayed until Monday morning when the Croppers Crop-pers had to go back to School on Provo Congratulations Darrel and Ann on the new daughter. Bishop Lawrence Cropper left early Friday morning to spent the day at the Boy Scout Camp at Maple Dell. He stayed all flight and brought some of the boys and their gear back Saturday. Mr. Jack Willoughby left Saturday Satur-day morning and brought the rest of the boys back. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ludwig and family attended attend-ed the program Friday evening at the Maple Dell Scout Camp and then went on to Draper to visit their folks over the weekend. Martin Mar-tin returned home Sunday but left the family to visit for a week. Mrs. Ula Day took Janet Stanworth. Stan-worth. Bonnie Day and Barbara Howell up to the girls camp at Gooseberry. The Lucky Seven 4-H club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Eppich our leader. The members mem-bers who were there were Margery Mar-gery Wright, Geri Ashby, Barbara Lake, Renee Stephenson, Linda, Barbeu, and Judy Callister. Judy and Renee both gave demonstrations demonstra-tions in sewing. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting. Secretary, Renee Stephensen Nathan Hale, Trout Creek rancher, ranch-er, was at the Delta hospital two days this week, 'being treated for burns.' Mr. Hale was working with his tractor and had spilled sonv? gasoline on his clothing as he filled the tank. A spark, as he started the outfit, ignited his clothes, and he was burned on both legs and one arm. He rolled in a nearby pile of hay to put the flames out. Luckily the hay was not yet dried and did not catch afire, too. Parley Roper, of Oak City, was a medical patient at the Delta hospital hos-pital during the past week, released re-leased Wednesdav.
