Show ACS Fund Drive Goes Over Top In Otsh Crusade Thf American Cancer Society, Utah Division Inc., reports that 103 of the state goal was reached July 9 on the 1958 campaign to conquer cancer. . The crusade total as of July 9 was $133,506.61, or 103 of the self-imposed goal in Utah of $131,-000. $131,-000. They congratulated each and every one upon this thrilling a-chievement. a-chievement. Millard County's contribution to this total was $1,759.42. East Millard Mil-lard sent in $753.30, when their quota was $750.00. From West Millard Mil-lard came $1,006.12, 101 of their quota of $1,000.00. Mrs. Thirza Webb, 1958 chairman chair-man of the west Millard campaign, said today that a total of $887.63 was contributed locally, according to the report of Mrs. Ardt'Ua Riding Rid-ing treasurer of the west Millard ACS unit. Other contributions made by business firms brought up the total to over a thousand dollars. There was a little excitement in town Wednesday afternoon Walter Manis was cutting the1 motor out of an old car with his welding outfit when the upholstery caught fire, and was a good fire before he saw it. The car had about 113 tank of gas so they punctured the tank to let it out and they had such a fire it was necessary to call the fire department. Lois Wilson, Evelyn Morris and Fay Davis drove up to Salt Lake Monday and Thora, Petersen, Enid Damron Marjorie Judd, Kathie Carol and Connie Croppe all went to Salt Lake to shop Saturday. El Dean Greener returned Friday from a two weeks vacation in Salt Lake visiting Janice Moody. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hilton, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Bassett and all their children are spending three days camping at Puffers Lake. Karolyn Morris and LaWana Workman spent the weekend in Salt Lake and Tooele. Mrs. Hon Cropper went to Payson for a check up with her Dr. and he ordered her to bed for a two week period. We wish for he'r a speedy recovery. She has her small granddaughter, Kelly Ann with her while her mother, Ann is in the hospital with a new baby girl. Mrs. Nellie Workman of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harris and family of Lawndale California Cal-ifornia were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Workman last Friday. They also had Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jones and children, Karl, Linda, and Brent to visit them. Their daughter, La Wana returned from a two weeks visit in Tooele, Salt Lake City and Afton, Wyoming. Mrs. Nellie Webb had her sister Mrs. Weldon Rigby with her husband hus-band and son, Brent from Salt Lake City to visit her this week. Miss Norma Chaffin was her Sunday Sun-day to visit relatives and friends. Mrs. LuMena Galli, of Garrison, mother of Duane Galli was here to spend Tuesday with them. Mrs. Ruth Talbot received a call from KTVT asking for a return engagement of little Marcia Ruth on the Junior Council Program. So all her friends may hear and see ( her play Saturday, the 26th of July appeared once before and played a number of selections on the piano and was well liked so this is a real opportunity for her. Hay Rack Ride The literary club and their partners part-ners enjoyed an old fashioned party par-ty Saturday night. They rode a hay wagon to Gunnison Bend where they barbequed steaks and auctioned off old fashioned box lunches. A fellow from Colorado caught a ride in to try to get a part for his car that was stalled out 35 miles west of town, Jeff Carter took his pickup, went out and brought him in then worked on his car until un-til after 10 o'clock at night before he had it running and sent him merrily on his way to Grand Junction Junc-tion .
