Black & Sou Delta, Utah Engaged to Wed In June Rites An engagement of widespread interest is that of University of Utah graduate, Miss Dolores Van Sickle, and S. Sgt. Robert C. Jones. The engagement news was announced an-nounced by the bride-elect's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Van Sickle, of Plain City, Utah. Sgt. Jones is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Jones, of Delta. The couple will be married June 6 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They will be honored at a reception recep-tion in Plain City on June 17, and a reception in Sacramento, Calif., June 20. An open house will also fete the bridal pair June 8 in Delta. Miss Van Sickle, who makes her home in Sacramento, is also a graduate of Weber College. Sgt. Jones graduated from Delta High School and attended College of Southern Utah. The bride is the former Jean Brasher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maisel Brasher, of Salt Lake City, and granddaughter of Charles M. Jensen. Marsha Ruth Talbot, four-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Cluff Talbot, spent a week in Cedar City. While there she played two pieces on the piano at the Varsity Variety Show, she also played for some of the professors. Mr. and Mrs. Aroet Taylor drove to Salt Lake Sunday to the Veter ans' Hospital to visit friends there, among whom, were Jack Aldrich George Abbott and Kenneth Rob ins. Lyla Rae, Wess and Evelyn Mor ris all went to Burley, Idaho, to see Larry, Jim and Joe Morris, who are up there farming. Mr. and Mrs. George Barton of Midvale, spent the weekend in town and George went out with Cluff Talbot to the west hills Sat urday on a cattle drive. Mrs. Isabel Brooks of Salt Lake visited with her sister Esther Peter sen for a few days this week. Students home from college for the weekend were Shirlene Talbot, Gale Bennett, Howard Carrol, CSU; Edith Rose Petersen, Gene Ekins and Hal Evans, BYU; and Grace Warnick from USAC in Logan. Patriarch C. R. Woodbury went to Payson Friday to spend his 59th wedding anniversary with his wife, who is in a rest home there. Mr. and Mrs. Don Mcintosh of Salt Lake were in town Sunday to visit family and friends. Because of the Alumni Banquet Saturday night, the ward show will be held Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 p. m. Babies Blessed Sunday Kathryn and Keith Black, of Provo, blessed and named their small son, Ronald William, in sacrament service, Sunday. Little Ronald had four grandmothers there to see him blessed. They were great grandmothers, Lula Cropper and Lydia Ekins, grandmothers grand-mothers Sebrina Ekins and Ella Black; three grandfathers, A. L Ekins, George Ekins and Ernest Black. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Ivie and family fam-ily of Sugarville were here to see their grandson blessed. Joe and Maxine Ivie named their little son, Bruce R. Maxine has been here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. El-ford El-ford Reeve, for two weeks. She returned to their home in Salt Lake with Joe Sunday evening. Paula Workman Christensen had her little daughter named Gloria Kim. and grandfather Karl Workman Work-man gave the blessing. Grant Robinson of Salt Lake was in town Sunday and Monday on business. Harriet Spendlove, Carol Talbot and Bonnie Manis attended the PTA convention In Provo, Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Spendlove drove to Spanish Fork Friday to take Harriet's mother, Mrs. Merrill. Carl Hardy and Blaine Robinson vent to Star Valley for the open-n open-n of Wyoming fishing. They said they stood on big snow banks to cast their hooks, and that the fishing was really great. They said they caught their limit of big cut throat trout ever' day. Rose Ceremony Twelve MIA Maids of the Hinck ley Ward Mutual presented a skit for their mothers and the Mutual officers Tuesday evening, under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Roma Ekins. Twelve girls, attired in beautiful formal took part in the skit on "Treasures of Truth", which they have been studying the past year. They had reached the percentage and met the requirements, so the tying of the rose bouquet could take place in the rose ceremony. A short program was given and refreshments served. Primary Conference A child's "Symphony of Reverence" Rever-ence" was beautifully portrayed Sunday evening by the Primary children. President Marjorie Judd took charge, with Beth Brown as the narrator. Joy Hurst led the children child-ren in singing the songs. The teachers and children did a good job of acting out the theme. Blanche Crafts was the stake visitor. Ait Club Clara Stewart entertained the Art Club members and their husbands hus-bands at dinner and a card party Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hilton captured captur-ed first prize and Mr. and Mrs Hugh Hilton received second. Orlando Or-lando and Fern Hepworth got the guest prize and Elden Hurst got both the go set and grand slam prizes. Buren is a graduate of the Hinck ley High School then attended the University of Utah, from which he graduated in 1952. He is now head executive in the office at Prescott. Finale for the recital will be a duet, "Nay, Bid Me Not Resign, Lqvo", from Mozart's "Don Giova-nl". Giova-nl". Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Twitchell, of Delta, and grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Zephyr Steele, plan to attend the recital. The recital is open to the public, and Ardythe and Noel send a cordial cor-dial invitation to everyone to attend at-tend the program Friday night. Ardythe was with the tabernacle choir on their European tour last year, and has, featured in several recitals at, the McCune school. Noel, freshman at Brighm Young University, is. majoring in music and has sung two roles in operas there this year. r. hi Ardyth Twitchell is Hostess at Literary Guild The Literary Guild met Monday evening April 29 at the home of Elaine Allred. A very enjoyable evening was spent listening, to a review of Sir Walter Scott's "Ivanhoe" given by Joye Bennion.
