The guests were: Mrs. Bert Adair of Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Adair Jr. and their two children from San Carlos, Culif., Mr. and Mrs. Keith Chriutenson and their two children from Los Altos, Cal., Mr. and Mrs. Smith Adair and their two children from Washington DC. Mr. and Mrs. Ilammner Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Thatcher Smith from Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Smithson of Mil-ford, Mil-ford, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hardy and two children from Delta, Mrs. Ray Smith and daughter, also from Delta. All enjoyed an excellent dinner cooked and served in the garden. Mr, and Mrs. Hampton Burke and Walter Miller were In Cedar City to attend the dinner and visitation visit-ation of the Grand Master F. & A.M. of Utah to the Cedar City and Milford Masonic lodges. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Allsop of Midvale, and Mrs. Allsop's Mother, Mrs. Jennie McCellan, of Payson, were weekend guests of the Merrill Mer-rill Millers. Their son Kent Is spend Ing a few days at the Black Rock Ranch. Bob Crippen from the Dugway Proving Grounds was a weekend guest of Walter Miller. They spent Sunday fishing In the Beaver Mt9. and had excellent luck. Kent All-sop All-sop accompanied them. Hampton Burke has been laid up suffering from a bad cut on his foot which was done by an ax. He had been replacing some fence at the windmill corrals of the Black Rock Ranch. TANCY SEAMERS 4-H NEWS Monday the Fanry Seamers 4-H club met at the home of Maxlne Reeve and worked on their skirts and scarfs. Refreshments were served ser-ved to the group by Kathleen Carroll. Albert Johnson was unfortunate in getting his arm "broken recently recent-ly while out riding with some other boys. The stockholders of the Oasis State Bank of Oasis met together recently and decided upon building build-ing a new, modern brick building 25 x f0 feet; they have secured a site from the Consolidated Wagon Wa-gon t Machine Co., an ideal building build-ing spot. Lynndyl Lights Lynndyl boasts of one of the finest opera houses between Salt Lake and Los Angeles. Dr. W. P. Murray and Joseph Vest were guests at the I.O.O.F. banquet last week. The Sevier Land it Water Co. has completed the construction of street culverts and now the water is running down the canals on every street. Frank Rapley, a citizen of Kan-osh. Kan-osh. was struck and killed by train No. 20 as it pulled Into the station here Saturday, June 20. Several persons noticed the man setting on the rail facing the opposite op-posite rail, as the train was approaching, ap-proaching, Engineer Brown blew several shrill blasts which were unheeded by the man, the engineer en-gineer made an effort to stop but was too close, the pilot striking strik-ing the man, threw him several feet, breaking his neck and cut ting off one arm. Mr. Walker of Oak City, Identified the body as that of Frank Rapley. Acting cor onor. Noble communicated with relatives of the dead man, who in structed that the body be sent to Kanosh for interment. Woodrow J. L Williams of San Diego, Cal., arrived last week, bringing with him a carpenter. A carload of lum her is on the way from Portland, Oregon, and soon a beautiful new bungalow will spring up on the ranch. Mr. Williams Is Mrs. Op- penheimer's father. Who says Bachelors are slow? Not we! Saturday night the bach elors of the Water Users Associa tion entertained the married men and their wives also incidentally their children and neighbors. An ice cream supper was tastefully served. Delicious cakes were there In profusion, but the boys would not tell who baked them. Leamington Swimming is fine in I-eamington come and try It. Mr. Alma Harder of this city and Miss Pearl Perry, of Mantl, were married in the Mantl Temple last week. They returned home Sunday. Delta The bridge across the Sevier on the Delta Branch has been com pleted and work in constructing the track from the bridge on to Omaha will commence at once. No information has leaked out as to where this branch is to go further than to Omaha. The track is of heavy steel rails, something some-thing unusual lor a spur or branch line of minor importance. So we can rest assured that at some future time the R.R. Co. fully intends in-tends to extend the line to ome place, but the officials only know J where. Our City Fathers are sweating blood these nights, they have two electric light companies knocking knock-ing at our dour for admission asking for a franchise to light our town. We hope this matter will be settled for the future welfare of our town. Serving In Pnsaii. Korea PrC. Merton N. Lovell, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell of Oak City, Utah, is now serving in Pusan, Korea, with the 2nd Base Post Offioe which recently was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation. Com-mendation. Lovell is a postal clerk in the unit, cited for operating '"with outstanding out-standing efficiency under extremely extreme-ly d.fficult and trying conditions", from June to December 1953. Private First Class Lovell entered en-tered the Army in Februray and was stationed at Fort Lewis Wash, before arriving overseas last August. Konald and Sharon Gayle Whit-aker Whit-aker Jensen are announcing the birth of a baby glri, C pounds and 6 ounces, on June IT, at El Paso Texas, where Mrs, Jensen is visiting visit-ing her parents. She and the baby will Svon be returning to their hor.-e in IVlta. HINCKLEY Bertha Love The Hinckley Rook Club and their partners enjoyed a hot steak dinner Wednesday night at the fireplace. Hostesses for the party were Helen Shurtliff, Angie Pratt, Belva Morris, Verna Anderson and Arvilla Swensen. Those present were Dick Shurtliff, Dana Pratt Harold Morris, Rulon Anderson, R. Swensen, Ruth and Duff Talbot, Tal-bot, Arvilla and Karl Workman, Vi and Elaine Robinson, Thora and Wayne Petersen, Ruth and Grant Robinson, Bertha Love, Dolpha Eishop, Nina and Kenneth Mecham and Lois and Lee Wilson. Games were played. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Wright of Salt Lake City visited with friends in Hinckley Thursday. They were on their way to St. George to visit with Mrs. Wright's sister. Miss Linda LeFevre of Ely Nevada Nev-ada is visiting with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Spencer. Spen-cer. Mrs. Cherol Elake and Mrs. Joanne Jo-anne Stewart were hostesses at a party for the Coalesce Club mem bers and their partners Thursday Thurs-day night. The party was held at the Reservoir boat dock. Lunch was served and the evening spent swimming and boating. Mrs. LaVern Theobald and Mrs. Joyce Manwell visited in Provo last week. Mr. Ed Woodbury, of Orem has been visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Woodbury. Mr. Rhead Gunn of Hayward, California came to Hinckley Saturday Sat-urday to get his wife Colleen, and baby who have been visiting for a month with Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Robinson. Mr. Leonard Mecham and granddaughter grand-daughter of Salt Lake are visiting visit-ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mecham. Mr. Meyers was a cousin of John and Bertha. Mr. and Mrs. Rut Finlinson drove to Huntsville last week end to attend the wedding reception for the former Barbara Wanpgar-den, Wanpgar-den, Klees' niece. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lovell and children were down from Spring-ville Spring-ville over the weekend. They attended at-tended the wedding reception Saturday Sat-urday for Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Vest. David Lovell returned home with them Sunday after visiting two weeks with his aunt, Mrs.! Margaret McCunn. Mrs. Margaret Bradfield, Mrs. LaVerne Peters, and Mrs. Opal Lambright visit last week in Salt Lake City with Mrs. Margaret Ritchie. Rit-chie. were hostesses. A lovely lunch was served after which games were played. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Milo Eishop, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Theobald, Mr. and Mrs. George Cahoon, Mr. and Mrs. George Geo-rge Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hilton. Prizes were awarded to George Stewart, Alice Bishop and Roy Hilton. Mrs. Cora Blake Cox and Miss Pearl Cox of Shelly, Idaho, visited from Thursday to Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Dutson and Mr. and Mrs. James Blake, Mr. Hyrum Blake and Mr. Howard Blake. A fireside chat for M Men and Gleanors was held Sunday night at the home of Helen Black. A study of the book of Mormon was continued under the direction of Melvin Hepworth. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Paulsen are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Greener and family. The Government's lead-zinc ing plan has been disappointing. It has weakened, weak-ened, not strengthened, metal prices. Our real need is adequate tariffs to control imports and prevent dumping. This will enable Utah mines to compete with low-wage foreign producers. Nielson, of Delta, recently completed the Wheel Vehicle Repair Course at the Ordance Automotive School at Atlanta General Depot, Atlanta, Ga. Private Nielson attended the College of Southern Utah, Cedar City, before entering the military service Dec. 1, 1953, from Fort Douglas. He was recently reassigned to -duty at Fort George T. Meade, Md. His wife, Cherie Bishop Nielson is remaining in Delta while he is in the east. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Dutson and Lueila spent the weekend in Provo with Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Dutson and family. On Sunday the group celebrated Merrill's birthday with dinner in Provo canyon. On Wednesday Wed-nesday Mrs. Dutson was surprised by a visit from an old school friend and neighbor of. girlhood days in Emery Mrs. James Gar-man Gar-man now living in Payson. Mrs. Louise Lovell has had her sister, Peggy visiting her the past few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gunn, of Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nielson went fishing at Fish Lake over the weekend. Mr. and Mxs. Bob Weagle and son visited over night with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Finlinson en-route en-route to their home in Lark, from Panguitch. The in-coming Junior Gleanor girls were honored with a canyon can-yon party last Tuesday evening. Hostesses were Margene Finlinson, Janice Hanson, and Annette Nielson. Niel-son. Verdie Nielson and Louise Nielson accompanied the group. Mrs. Emma Nielson has been visiting in Lynndyl the past week staying with Imogene while her parents were on vacation. k h.
