Show epostle 99 DIES ahter ILLNESS e WAS LONG A LEADER IN CHURCH AND AFFAIRS OP OF MILLARD apostle alonzo A hinckley died at the home of his daughter mrs airs frank craven in salt lake city wednesday morning at the age of sixty six he had bad been in ill III health tor for about two years he was chosen as an apostle in 1904 the youngest in point of ser vice but of many years in faithful and efficient service in church mat he had been president of the millard and deseret stakes tor for a combined period of twenty seven I 1 ebi eat 0 he I 1 lad ad ben three years on a mission in holland a six moths mission in the southern states also a acl ool teacher assessor and col lector of taxes in millard bounty a postmaster lost master in hinckley which town was so named in honor of his father ira N hinckley head of the de apartment part ment of agriculture under gov mabey prominent in the affairs of the utah central water company a stock raiser and a successful grower of alfalfa seed he was born at cove fort which his father built in 1867 the date of his hla birth was april 23 1870 when four years old his family moved to where the young man in time went to school winters and tol fol lowed farming in the dumn er time he ile went to school at provo to the B Y U for two years then back to rill more and again at provo tor for two years in 1892 he married rose may robison of Fi Ilmore to which union fourteen children were born of whom twelve are living he ile moved to hinckley where he lived tor for thirty years running at one time ahe the hinckley co op farmed raised liptock and grew alfalfa seed lie ile owned a farm near lynndyl lynndal adoth er at hinckley and a third at salt lake city he ile Is survived by his widow three sons and nine daughters sixteen grandchildren five sisters and six brothers funeral services are being held in the tabernacle salt lake city to day thursday the pall bearens are the sons and sons in law apostle hinckley was loved by all who knew him respected tor for his great worth and conceded to have been one of the really areat great and con mandina men of millard county his passing is deeply mourned the chronicle joins with his hosts of friends friends in extending messages of sympathy to the sorrowing family |
