Show Pay Tribute To Deseret Mother At Rites Friday Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Dewsnup Christensen were held in the Deseret ward chapel Friday at 11 a. m., by Bishop Ormus L. Dut-son. Dut-son. She died the preceding Tuesday Tues-day in a Salt Lake hospital. Opening the services was a prelude, pre-lude, played by Norma Moody, voc al duet, "Absent" by Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Bennett, and prayer, by Dee Black. Bishop Peter Peterson ,of the Oasis Ward, was the first speaker, speak-er, paying tribute to the sterling qualities of Mrs. Christensen's Cha racter, esteemed by all who knew her. He was followed by a piano solo, "To a Wild Rose" by Miss Moody. The second speaker was Frank i Dewsnup, of St. George, a cousin of Mrs. Christensen. He was followed fol-lowed by remarks by Bishop Dut-son, Dut-son, and a vocal duet, "Mother Macree" by Ethel and Melba West ern. The closing prayer was by Ralph Crafts. Burial was in the Deseret cemetery, cem-etery, under direction of L. N. -Nic-kle and sons, where the grave was dedicated by Will Bradfield, of Scipio. The flowers were taken care of by the Deseret Relief Society. Soc-iety. Among the out-of-town people who attended the services were Mrs. Vernell Thatcher and son, of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Her-mann Munster and Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Jensen, Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Johnson, and son Clifford and daughter, Helen, from Ely, Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. William Mace, Fillmore, Henry Jackson, of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Allred and son Cowley, Provo, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dewsnup, St. George. |
